Pro 6:6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

I think this little story is a good illustration of how Republic's begin a story with the ending and work backwards, thereby getting everything screwed up.

Ants are not lone individuals working hard for themselves alone. They live in a hive, each dependent on the other, each specializing in one job that benefits the whole hive. Basically ants are communists! The real lesson of the ant is group effort, common goals, cooperation. jeesh!

@ Bebe

I was gonna say: ants are totally socialists.

Reactionary fail, as always.

I agree re the FAIL of the ant analogy. Teh stoooped, it burns.

Plus the usual rightwing think tank talking points: if you're poor, it's ALL & ONLY your fault because you are a lazy, party-animal, drug addict, who doesn't work at all. And of course, the fantastically hardworking "grasshoppers" are being totally ripped off by these debased, grasping, lazy ants.

GAH. Speaking of Larry King, he was interviewing Deepak Chopra the other night in conjunction with the conviction of Michael Jackson's doctor. Chopra commented that vast majority of drug addicts in this country are addicted to presecription meds, and NOT to street drugs.

Generally, it is the middle class & up, who are addicted to prescrip. meds... yeah, Lush Rimjob: I'm looking at you (ugh, ick, my eyes, my eyes....).

I remember this one going around about 10 or 12 years ago in the wee early days of email forwards. It wasn't quite as dire then; it didn't end with the death of civilization as we know it.

Simplified version: Colored people are stealing your money to party. Hate them.
