Fwd: FW: A Parable - Worth the Read......

                      A Parable

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall

to see the farmer and his wife open a package.

"What food might this contain?" The mouse wondered.

He was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard,

the mouse proclaimed this warning :

"There is a mousetrap in the house!

There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The chicken clucked and scratched,

raised her head and said, "Mr. Mouse,

I can tell this is a grave concern to you,

but it is of no consequence to me.

I cannot be bothered by it."

The mouse turned to the pig and told him,

"There is a mousetrap in the house!

There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The pig sympathized, but said,

"I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse,

but there is nothing I can do about it

but pray.

Be assured you are in my prayers."

The mouse turned to the cow and said,

"There is a mousetrap in the house!

There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The cow said, 'Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you,

but it's no skin off my nose."

So, the mouse returned to the house,

head down and dejected,

to face the farmer's mousetrap

......Alone......

That very night

a sound was heard throughout the house

-- the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey.

The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught.

In the darkness, she did not see it.

It was a venomous snake

whose tail was caught in the trap.

The snake bit the farmer's wife.

The farmer rushed her to the hospital.

When she returned  home she still had a fever.

Everyone knows you treat a fever

with fresh chicken soup.

So the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard

for the soup's main ingredient:

But his wife's sickness continued.

Friends and neighbors

came to sit  with her

around the clock.

To feed them,

the farmer butchered the pig.

But, alas,

the farmer's wife did not get well...

She died.

So many people came for her funeral

that the farmer had the cow slaughtered

to provide enough meat for all of them.

And the mouse looked upon it all

from his crack in the wall

with great sadness.

So, the next time you hear

someone is facing a problem

and you think it doesn't concern you,

--- Remember ---

When one of us is threatened, we are all at risk.

We are all involved in this journey called life.

We must keep an eye out for one another and

make an extra effort to encourage one another.

YOU MAY WANT TO SEND THIS

TO EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER

HELPED YOU OUT...

AND LET THEM KNOW

HOW  IMPORTANT THEY ARE.

- REMINDER -

EACH OF US IS A VITAL THREAD

IN ANOTHER PERSON'S TAPESTRY.

OUR LIVES ARE WOVEN TOGETHER

FOR A REASON.

One of the best things to hold onto

In this world is 'A FRIEND'.

In God We Trust, but Never Trust Obama

A RW dad's letter of ideas to the RNC and the McCain campaign

"I sent these ideas to the RNC and the McCain campaign. Watch to see if they show up in a debate or ad campaign." -Rachel's Dad

1. Acceptance speach: I have no problem with Joe Biden - Joe Biden is a friend of mine. Senator Obama, You are no Joe Biden.

2.Debate: I have no problem with Joe Biden. Joe Biden should be here debating me you should be debating (McCain's VP choice).

3. Ad: He shut down Interstate 25 in both directions(backed up traffic video would be cool) just so he could accept his coronation.
He may be entitled... to his party's nomination...but is he ready to lead

4. Ad: Obama says: "So let me introduce to you the next president - the next vice president of the US of America, Joe Biden."
John McCain: "Obama is not even sure who should be on top of the ticket is he ready to lead?"

love,

dad

Fox News has taken a different angle:

Problems Posting Comments - Fixed.

Hey RWD guy,
"I tried posting to your blog the other day, but nothing happens when I click the "post comment" link. It's a real shame since i was going to comment on the Democratic Convention forward, since it is the easiest forward in the whole world. My mom has only recently seen the light on these emails, but it's almost a shame she did not sent it earlier. The response would have made her think and as we know, thinking is what cures people of this affliction.

Anyway, back to the link. Doesn't seem to be working, however, I am able to post comments to other blogger blogs. Thought you ought to know.
Thanks
-matt"

Thanks Matt. I had no idea why no one was outraged at the latest post. Now I know why. It should be fixed.

Does anyone know why I can't post a graphical header? It says ok and goes through the motions of uploading a header but it never shows up. Sighh.

A nice note

"I came across you blog today after my dear right wing dad sent me the "Bad American" one (after, of course many other hyperbolic, painful, badly written, oh jeez, you know what I mean). I was looking for something to write back; after finding your blog I realize I don't need to, just enjoy it as the art(?) it is.

Just knowing I'm not the only one makes them much easier to laugh at instead of getting would up over them.

Thanks!"

-Scott

Thank the forwarders! BTW: I did that exact same google search move when I was face to face with an absurd forward from my dad once, that's why this site is here. I needed a place to vent, commiserate and then celebrate these historic yet flitting communications. -mike

MRWD: Easier on the Eyes?

New Layout. Like it? Does it load ok? Can you read it all right?

Reader follow-up on "Fwd: FW: Fw: Interesting yes? What a black columnist has to say about Obama. What do you think?"

Follow-Up: I always wonder if it's worth the trouble to try and convince a right-winger that his/her forwards are factually insufficient dribble. It just seems like a waste of energy.  I have no faith that members of the forwarding right are able to fully read a counter-reply from a critical recipient and are willing to pull of their red-lenses long enough to contemplate sources other than Fox News Co. and email.

Roy in New Mexico has the good faith I lack; he actually researched a nice (if not a little gnawing) reply to the below forward post "Fwd: FW: Fw: Interesting yes? What a black columnist has to say about Obama. What do you think?", calling out New York Sun columnist Ken Blackwell as the political tool he really is while shining some light on the true media bias:

"I thought you might be interested in my reply ro the blackwell e-Mail"

I appreciate receiving the Blackwell comment with the vile comments by some brain-dead moron. You realize of course that:

Blackwell is a lousy propagandist for Murdoch’s New York Sun, Right-wing website townhall.com, and a “Senior Fellow” at the far-right-wing Christo-Nazi Family Research Council. The column quoted by the wild-eye, brainwashed e-mailer first appeared at Townhall.com on March 14, 2008.

Blackwell did his best to disenfranchise Black voters in Ohio. The Ohio election was rife with, deception, dishonesty, and outright fraud. He has been shown to be a liar on many occasions. Despite being so reviled and beaten so badly in Ohio, he remains a darling of the Rapture Right. Kenneth Blackwell: Pontificating from on high posted here offers a good overview. .

So Blackwell regurgitates that fake National Journal analysis without even referencing the source. This piece of propaganda has been debunked and ridiculed by so many sources (but not the corporate media which just joins in this Big Lie) Here are links to a three of my favorites:

* Daily Howler It isn’t that hard to debunk phony spin. Let Jon Stewart—a comedian!—show you: Here.

* Huffington Post Flawed Study Ranks Obama As "Most Liberal"

* AlterNet Debunking the Myth of a 'Liberal Media'

Only the totally brainwashed, intellectually deprived, or totally ignorant could believe Blackwell’s screed that consists of nothing but wild, false, and many-times rebutted accusations, ad homium attacks, and outright LIES. Which is your friend? Treat them gently, they obviously have a lot to learn.

MAIL CALL! Would you date/befriend a right-wing forwarder?

Here's a funny story from MRWD reader Jane. If you are a right-winger in a new relationship, when is the proper time to start emailing forwards?

"Not too very long ago a ?gentleman? began visiting me at the retail shop
where i work (slow out here in retail-land, lots of time to chat)
local guy, bright, funny, though my political opposite. one thing led
to another and we exchanged email addresses.... before very long
he began forwarding me this truly shockingly ignorant right wing stuff
(naive of me, i know). i would duly look them up at snopes/urban legend
and zing them right back at him.

Needless to say this budding relationship didn't get
off the ground (Hello, dude! ....what's a bright guy like you doing
watching fox news and reading such gossipy garbage .... )

I've deleted them all and the guy who was sending them to me,too, lol ....

Thanks for the chuckle,
j"

Mailbox Time! "I feel your pain..."

Here's a funny note of empathy from a fellow right-wing rant recipient in Arkansas...
I thought I was the only person who got these hideous things forwarded from my ultra-right-wing brother (and sister-in-law) and niece! I have dozens of liberal (read “rational”) friends but none of them send me leftwing versions of this stuff. At first, I started trying to debunk the worst of them by politely pointing the sender to snopes or urbanlegends. Then I started just trying to ignore them by trashing them immediately but then I started missing actual family correspondence (grandniece’s birthday parties, brother’s travel plans, etc). Once I even started a really vehement response but then trashed it in favor of familial harmony (we don’t Talk politics – it’s a rule). Then I started seeking out maybe a good “Mother Jones” or “Nation” article to start forwarding to counteract this but I was fearful that it might start a blizzard of these things coming in response. So now I have to actually READ the horrid things and then trash them.

Thanks for the bit of relief and a place to rant about it! Fortunately, my main source of these things just dried up a few weeks ago when my ultra-Christian, rightwing, traditional family values, God-fearing niece got caught by her husband flirting with men online and he’s taken her PC access away (ahhh the irony)!

Best regards from, as my brother would say, “the Peoples Republic of Fayetteville” Arkansas (it’s very tree-huggy, liberal here in Northwest Arkansas),

Rebecca

Oh. PC access denied.. That had to of been a rough spot. Nothing faith in Right-Wing righteousness won't cure!
