Fw: For your consideration: White Racism

White Racism

Although I didn't vote for Barack Obama, I welcomed the election of a black man to America's highest office. I assumed his election signaled that white America had finally atoned for the sin of slavery. I assumed that Martin Luther King's dream of judging a man by the content of his character instead of the color of his skin had become a reality.

No more would I have to spend my life proving a negative, as in 'I am not a racist.' No more would I have to automatically lower my voice when issues of race entered the conversation. No more would I have to censor my thoughts and actions when dealing with people whose skin color differed from my own. Alas, I was wrong.

America's elites seem intent on continuing to identify citizens by their skin color instead of their character or achievements. Case in point: This February has been designated by President Obama as National African American History Month, sending the clear message that black history is separate from the history of everyone else.

Hispanics also have their own Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 to Oct. 15) in which they focus on their own cultural achievements, as distinct from American culture. Even American Indians have their own Native American Heritage Month.

With all this focus on celebrating multiculturalism, whites, especially white Christians have gotten a bum rap. For the last 40 years white Americans have been blamed for all of the world's ills. Possessing white skin is automatically associated with oppression, slavery, paternalism and colonialism. And everyone knows that's bad stuff.

No-one has dared point out the absolutely phenomenal achievements of White Americans. That would be considered racist, under the faulty assumption that any white achievement necessarily demeans or excludes black achievements. This premise, however, doesn't apply when touting black progress, or Hispanic progress, or progress of any group not burdened with white skin.

Last week, the city of Farmington, New Mexico, unanimously voted nto to participate in any event celebrating a proposed "white history month." As a white American, this tells me that whites are still not allowed to celebrate their own achievements. The media backed, self anointed race hustlers have decreed that whites are still the oppressors and blacks are still the victims, despite all the evidence to the contrary. Whites must still atone for the sin of being white.

NBC is currently being lambasted for the sin of offering fried chicken on the menu of a special NBC Black History Month lunch spread. How dare they point out that blacks like fried chicken! I guess its a good thing they didn't offer watermelon on the menu, as that might have triggered a national boycott.

No-one, however, is questioning the overt paternalism and outright racism evidenced by billionaire Bill Gates. His Millennium Scholarship Project specifically excludes whites from participating. That kind of racism is OK. After all, it perpetuates the myth that whites are the ones with all the power. Tell that to the increasing number of whites displaced under the racial spoils system that operates under the benignly named 'affirmative action.'

If Obama were truly a 'post-racial' president, I would be allowed to comment on the fact that blacks dominate the NBA. I wouldn't give a thought to mentioning the overwhelming percentage of blacks working for the postal service. I could, without fear, comment on the fact that most blacks dance a heck of a lot better than whites.

But no, for a white to dare mention cultural differences between blacks and whites is verboten. But when blacks set aside a whole month to celebrate these very differences, it is somehow acceptable. What's wrong with this picture? And how much longer will whites have to atone for the sins of their ancestors? Inquiring minds want to know.

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

I think February has been Black History Month in America for a few years now. In the UK, it's LGBT History Month (we have Black History Month in October, which is when America has LGBT History Month). Anyway, everyone gets their History Month. White history is learned about in all the other months, which is how we get 2945647956 years of the rise of the Nazis and WW2 in school.

It's a shame this woman feels that the end of racism would only be a good thing because she wouldn't have to worry about people thinking she might be racist. Rather than because it would signal an increase in goodwill towards our fellow human beings. She seems to have thought the election of Barack Obama would have meant she could be as rude as she pleased to ethnic minorities without any bad consequences. After all, what else does "No more would I have to censor my thoughts and actions when dealing with people whose skin color differed from my own." mean?

Ugh, I cannot even be bothered to read whatever nasty racist screed the execrable Nancy Morgan - queen of victimized self-entitled bigotry - is barfing out. No doubt she was shrieking with joy & having starbursts when Tom Tancredo was having his orgasmic ecstacy about re-enacting Jim Crow laws again in the USA at last weekend's racist bigot fest in Nashville (aka, the astroturfed teabagger extravaganza that cost so much money that hardly anyone could afford to come).

People like Nancy & Tancredo should just stand up & be honest and say: I HATE all "n" words, I just HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE them, and I want to trample them under my lily white feet.

At least then I could have the teensiest smidgeon of respect for them being honest for a change. Not gonna hold my breath. For some reason, these bigoted creep racists keep wanting everyone to see them as some kind of wonderful person for whom racism is the furthest thing from their minds, and insist on getting offended when they look in the mirror and see how debased they are.

Go away, Nancy Morgan, go far far far away....

Not pretty, is it folks?

Really? REALLY?!? Obama was the one who created "Black history month"? Are they really this ignorant? Black history month has been in February for as long as I can remember, and according to a quick Wiki search it was first celebrated in 1926!

I never stop wondering about the sanity and intelligence of people who piss and moan about black history month (or women's history, or latino or whatever). Do they not realize the reason there is no "White history month" is because every single month is white history month!?! Whites dominate the history books, fairly or unfairly, and so there is no need to make a special effort to cover their contributions.

God almighty you have to be some kind of bitter, ignorant, racist egomaniac to really get offended by such things.

And as for Bill Gates: bravo sir, for using your vast fortune to help the less fortunate.

I wonder if this person also has a beef with the United Negro College Fund for their "racism" in helping poor black kids go to college.

What a complete dolt. This woman is too mentally challenged by her warped sense of white entitlement to be able to write anything comprehensible about racism.

She's worried about "whites displaced under...affirmative action." huh? i've always wondered how many more Einsteins or Marie Curies were lost to the world because they were born into American slavery. So yeah there's a lot of unfairness in the world, stop whining already, lady.

I loved the good old days when the coloreds knew their place. You know they crossed the street when I came along, and cast their eyes downward & at most, tipped their hats or tugged on their hair and called me "Misses" in a quiet, respectful voice.

Now we have this uppity n**** in the White House, and I'm sooo oppressed. Things were much better when my Big Daddy was alive. He knew how to keep those darkies down and in their place. waaaaah

We need a white history month just like we need organizations that promote white civil rights. You know, like the KKK.

So I sort of agree w/ her...aside from the Black History Month thing. I always thought it odd that people want equality and yet segregate themselves by having 'Black Only'(or Hispanic or whatever else) groups/events/etc. I really became aware of it in high school. We had a prom everyone was invited to...and my school also had an "Afro Ball"...like the 'black prom'. I just totally didn't get it. If the white students had put together an "Anglo Ball", holy crap we'd be RACIST!

@ Karli

AA history month was started back in the 1920s when African Americans were essentially denied rights, equality and oppourtunity at the whim of white Americans. It was and is meant as a celebration of all the contributions of African Americans to our history. February was chosen because both Lincoln and Fredrick Douglass were born in that month.

Hispanic and Women's history months serve the same purpose.

If regular history ever got around to actually talking about or paying more than lip service to the history of non-white men maybe these special months wouldn't be as necessary. Ironic (and sad) considering that if you add up all the women and minorities in this nation you get an overwhelming majority.

As for "white proms" they do exist. For years even after segregation ended there were segregated proms at public schools in the South. When people finally decided enough was enough and the proms became intergrated, white kids at some schools boycotted the official proms and threw their own private "whites only" proms.

And for everyone complaining about when "white history month" is or when "white culture" will be acknowleged, do me a favor. Look in your wallet. Whose faces adorn your money? Whose likeness is carved into Mt. Rushmore and the vast majority of national monuments? White history is alive and well, and should be celebrated, but not at the exclusion of every other race who have suffered and toiled and built up our nation as well.

Possessing white skin is automatically associated with oppression, slavery, paternalism and colonialism. And everyone knows that's bad stuff

Is this an attempt at sarcasm, you think? Is this writer trying to imply that oppression, slavery etc are NOT bad things?

No more would I have to censor my thoughts and actions when dealing with people whose skin color differed from my own. Alas, I was wrong.

If you weren't racist, you wouldn't have to self-censor in the first place.

America's elites seem intent on continuing to identify citizens by their skin color instead of their character or achievements. Case in point: This February has been designated by President Obama as National African American History Month, sending the clear message that black history is separate from the history of everyone else.

February has been "Black History Month" for years and years - Obama didn't start it. In fact, it was started in 1926. Long before Obama was born in Indo...um, Hawaii.

White Americans have perpetuated and caused much of that, so yeah - it makes sense that we'd be blamed for/associated with it.

And oh, you poor poor white Christians. Poor dears, being in power most of these many hundreds of years.

FTR, I'm white (but not Christian).

Except that all of HISTORY (at least the stuff we're taught in school) is about white achievements. But besides that? Yeah, you're totally right. Poor, deprived, oppressed white Christians.

The media backed, self anointed race hustlers have decreed that whites are still the oppressors and blacks are still the victims, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Until all racism is actually gone, this will continue to be the case. The people (race/gender/etc) in power will continue to be seen as oppressing the people (race/gender/etc) not in power - because they are.

NBC is currently being lambasted for the sin of offering fried chicken on the menu of a special NBC Black History Month lunch spread. How dare they point out that blacks like fried chicken! I guess its a good thing they didn't offer watermelon on the menu, as that might have triggered a national boycott.

Yeah, how dare they perpetuate a stereotype that keeps them negroes on a lower class level - because no matter how delicious they are, fried chicken and watermelon will never be the class equivalent of a filet mignon or caviar.

Oh, and that comment I made after the first thing I quoted? Yeah, this would have been a good idea to self-censor, as "blacks like fried chicken (and watermelon) is one of those aforementioned actually racist things you should STFU about.

But no, for a white to dare mention cultural differences between blacks and whites is verboten. But when blacks set aside a whole month to celebrate these very differences, it is somehow acceptable. What's wrong with this picture?

If all white folks could talk about the diversity between racial cultures in *positive* terms, then that would be a fair complaint. But since we can't - kiss off.

And how much longer will whites have to atone for the sins of their ancestors? Inquiring minds want to know.

For as long as those whites continue to repeat their ancestors' sins, dumbass.
