FW: Gray Haired Geezers

The typical U S, household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday. They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogjes, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are "Baby Boomers getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a lite slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We have worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.  In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don't know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam. We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn't fight for the Socialist States of America we fought for the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave." We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America, and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America. Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent. It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fall for the "Hope and Change which in reality was nothing but "Hype and Lies You have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face and have found you don't like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or "Climbing the Social Ladder to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the Great Lie" in 2008 are now having buyer's remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn’t have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the Kool-Aid.' Now you're paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom. This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded for a paycheck and a fancy house. Well, don't worry youngsters, the Gray-haired Brigade is here, and in 2014 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we're going, and in 2014 we're going to the polls by the millions This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, it belongs to "We the People and "We the People" plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the "Grey-Hared Brigade." Footnote: This is soot on. I am another Gray Haired Geezer signing on. Will circulate this to other Gray Haired Geezers all over this once great county Can you feel the ground shaking??? It's not an earthquake, it is a STAMPEDE.

(The 2014 United States elections will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. During this midterm election year, all 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 33 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate will be contested in this election. Get out and VOTE!!)
A movement has been started by our armed forces to get out the vote in 2014. They are organizing themselves, but this can be done by all of us. The President has made the Rules of Engagement (ROE) so difficult, that our troops are often killed before they can even get permission to fight. Nothing has been done to stop our troops from being murdered by the Afghanis they are training, either.
Now, the President wants the US to sign on to the UN's International Criminal Court (ICC), which would allow the UN's ICC to arrest and try US troops for War Crimes, without the legal protections guaranteed under US Law, and from which there is no appeal.
The President, with his Democratic control of the Senate, has nearly all the power. If the Republicans, can take back the Senate in 2014, our troops can once again be protected from unnecessary danger. Please consider this, and send it on to your mailing lists.
Thank You.
Interestingly enough, when GW Bush was President you heard about the military deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan almost daily. With Obama in the White House, the mainstream media has been strangely quiet. --- Because of the Obama Rules of Engagement, more than 1,000 American soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan in the last 27 months. This is more than the combined total of the nine years before. Thirty have died in August alone. During the last month, over 50 additional NATO and US servicemen have been murdered, inside jobs by those who are hired to be a force for good in Afghanistan.
The commander in chief is AWOL. Not a peep, although he ordered the White House flag flown at half-staff for the Sikhs that were killed. There is a deep disgust, a fury, growing in the ranks of the military against the indifferent incompetence of this president.
It has taken on a dangerous tone. No one knows what to do about him, but the anger runs deep as the deaths continue with no strategic end in sight to the idiocy of this war. Obama has had 5+ years to end this futile insanity, during which time he has vacationed, golfed, campaigned, and generally ignored the plight of our men and women in uniform. But, there is now a movement afoot in the armed services to launch a massive get out the vote drive against this president.
Not just current active duty types, but the National Guard, Reserves, the retired, and all other prior service members. This is no small special interest group, but many millions of veterans who can have an enormous impact on the outcome of the November election if they all respond.
The one million military retirees in Florida alone could mean an overwhelming victory in that state if they all show up at the polls. It might not keep another one hundred U.S. troops from dying between now and November, but a turn out to vote by the military against this heart breaking lack of leadership can make a powerful statement that hastens a change to the indifference of this shallow little man who just lets our soldiers die.
Veterans: Please forward to your lists. High Priority!
In God We Trust.

Roger Williams is the              former Secretary of State in Texas under Governor Rick Perry. In              that position he was the state’s director of elections.

He              won the 25th Congressional District in 2012 and was just              re-elected.

The district is in South Central Texas and              includes a  portion of Austin, the citadel of Liberalism in              Texas. Those folks must be beyond themselves over his re- election,              because he is a staunch conservative.

What Republicans plan to do to demolish Obama’s legacy if they win the Senate

One of these guys would like to dismantle the legacy of another one of these guys. (AP Photo/Charles Dharapak)
When Republicans seized control of the House four years ago, Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) took over the House Energy and Commerce Committee and compared his plans for President Obama’s health care law to strategy in the game of Jenga, in which players remove wooden blocks one by one from a tower until it collapses.
"It's like this game," he told me back then. "We're going to pull out the pieces."
With Republicans increasingly likely to win control of the Senate in two weeks, and perhaps the White House in two years, they again smell opportunity -- a better chance than ever to undo what they see as the liberal government policies that are core to Obama’s legacy.
At the top of the agenda: reining in Obama’s climate-change policies and dismantling parts of the Affordable Care Act.
“There’s tons of planning going on,” says Arthur C. Brooks, president of the conservative American Enterprise Institute, which has produced many of the top ideas for how to push Washington in a conservative direction. “The good news is that Republicans are starting to get serious to figure out how to counteract what’s gone wrong. Every American knows that a lot needs to be changed.”
In the next two years, Republicans are looking to force the president to allow more oil and gas exploration on federal lands, a position opposed by environmentalists who say it will mar vistas, endanger certain species, and spoil water resources. They’re also looking to vote on approval of the Keystone XL pipeline, a decision Obama has resisted for years. GOP lawmakers are also contemplating how they can erect a legislative roadblock to the proposed Environmental Protection Agency's limits on carbon emissions from power plants.
On the Affordable Care Act, Republicans are wary of Obama’s veto pen. But they could start the process of scaling back the law by watering down the employer mandate, reducing subsidy benefits to higher income people, and tackling Medicaid's overall financial weakness, which has been exacerbated by its expansion under the Affordable Care Act.
“It will be repeal, repeal, repeal and then once they've run up San Juan hill," Republicans will turn to proposals more likely to garner bipartisan support, said Thomas A. Scully, head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in the George W. Bush administration and now a partner at a private equity firm.
Wresting control of the Senate is key. Without it, Republican-backed legislation will most likely continue to die on the desk of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.). Even with the GOP in control of the Senate, however, GOP bills would still face Democratic filibusters and presidential vetoes, big hurdles before becoming law. But a change in control could have a big impact on the congressional agenda and put pressure on Obama to play defense rather than seek ways to burnish his legacy.
“One very noticeable change if there’s a leadership shift is that it will be harder for Democrats and the White House to block votes on bipartisan measures that, despite their bipartisan pedigrees, have been blocked in the Democrat-led Senate,” said Don Stewart, spokesman for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Stewart cited a bill to repeal the medical device tax as one example. “There are a LOT of things that can be done,” he said. “Remember, Reid has blocked us from considering almost all of the House-passed legislation. A lot of jobs and energy bills passed with broad support, [garnering] 300 to 400 votes, that are collecting dust over here.”
Energy issues – such as EPA limits on greenhouse gases and a measure to approve the long-pending application for the Keystone XL oil pipeline -- offer other opportunities, Stewart said, because some Democrats could side with Republicans. GOP leaders might also turn toward expanding drilling on federal lands, speeding up permits for gas exports, and lifting the ban on crude oil exports.
“As to the president’s EPA regulations, there is bipartisan opposition, but again, votes on that have been blocked,” Stewart added. “We haven’t had a real energy debate in the Senate in seven years. Keystone, like most of the bipartisan energy bills that have been blocked, has wide support, but Reid has been acting like a veto.”
Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), the ranking Democrat on the House Budget Committee, said he doesn't believe the GOP will win the Senate, but if they did he said he expects they would try to block carbon pollution rules and executive actions Obama might take on immigration. "Most of what I see would be a negative agenda," Van Hollen said, "trying to stop the president from doing things through executive authority." He added, "then the question is whether they can put together a positive agenda. They’re talking a good game." But he predicted that if they followed through on their own budget proposals they would face a "heck of a backlash."
Robert Dillon, spokesman for Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), who would become chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said that she would like to see legislation that would, for example, open up the Alaska Natural Wildlife Refuge, but she recognizes it would never become law. Instead, Dillon said, she would she would probably first promote an energy efficiency bill that had considerable bipartisan support early this year and one dealing with interim storage for waste from nuclear power plants. These were measures that already have been supported by a majority of the committee, he said.
In the end, however, the Republican plan for next year isn't about congressional harmony but is mainly aimed at discrediting the Obama record, defining a new conservative vision, and building an appealing Republican platform for the 2016 presidential election.
Brooks, the AEI president, has a long list of issues he thinks Republicans could champion beyond healthcare and energy in coming years: relocation tax credits, expanding the earned income tax credit instead of raising the minimum wage, liberalizing laws on health care spending accounts and more to help working Americans.
All that, he said, could be part of forging a new conservative agenda built on "fighting tyranny" and helping "people left behind," stealing some of the Democrats'  thunder at home. Republicans, he said, "have to not fall prey to the premise that they are fighting against the president’s bad policies." He added, "Republicans want to set themselves up to have the White House in 2016."
“Don’t fight against Obamacare. Fight for people who have been hurt by Obamacare,” Brooks said. He said the party could focus, for example, on “making sure that catastrophic insurance is for everybody and that there is a sliding scale if you can’t afford it. You don’t need toupee insurance in Ohio.”
It sounds a lot like a campaign platform.
Until the White House is captured, “there’s only so much they can do,” Brooks said of GOP lawmakers. “They can propose a lot more if have both houses of Congress, but … the Republicans shouldn’t convince themselves that somehow everything is going to get turned around.”
Pushing aggressive new positions - framed not as opposition but as new ideas -- will be key to taking the White House, Republicans say.
“Is the purpose to define the direction of the country or to oppose Obama over his last two years?” says David Winston, a Republican pollster and consultant. “We’re seeing a growing consensus that if things are going to work out in the long run -- and in 2016 -- it has to be about defining a direction.”
Even now before the outcome of the mid-term elections, Winston said that the most important thing is to look toward the 2016 election.
“The one definitive thing you can say is that in 2016 there will be a new president,” he said. “As we look at the last two years of the Obama presidency, the challenge is really defining where the country goes in a post-Obama environment.”

1.  Dear Republicans: No One Elected You to Work with Democrats
As the reality of a Republican wave became imminent last night, a dangerous narrative began to take hold among the conservative talking heads on cable news and in the victory speeches of the victorious Republicans. The narrative was that now that the Republicans have control of both chambers of Congress, it is incumbent upon them to work with Obama and the other Democrats in the service of “getting things done” and “fixing the broken system.”
My hope is that Republicans reject this patent nonsense for the poppycock that it is. Not only should Republicans not work closely with Democrats, they should instead keep them as far away as possible, preferably across a large moat filled with sharp stakes, acid, and alligators. That way, our side will be safer from friendly fire when we launch the flaming tar at the remaining Democrats in office.
Let us review the bidding. Republicans ran this year on very little of substance. Their brand ID is still very underwater with the American public. There is no program right now that the American public is clamoring for the Republicans to undertake with one exception: they hate what President Obama is doing and they want Republicans to stop it. Exit poll after exit poll last night showed that the single most important thing in the minds of the voters this year was the looming shadow of death Obama cast on all his Democrat allies.
If voters really wanted people who would work closely with Obama and other Democrats to “get things done,” they would have just voted for more Democrats. After all, virtually every elected Democrat has “worked with” Obama (in the sense of doing exactly everything he asked) for the last six solid years. Say what you want about the information level of the average voter, but absolutely no one was confused into thinking that they were replacing a Democrat with a Republican in the hopes that the Republican would be more friendly to the Democrat agenda.
Consider what the Democrats have stood for the last two years – they have literally tried to rewrite the First Amendment to make it not apply to wealthy conservatives. They have tried to force religious institutions to pay for abortions and participate in gay marriage ceremonies regardless of their religious convictions. They have confiscated billions of tax dollars in the name of “economic stimulus” and self-dealt their families and friends huge awards of taxpayer money. They have consciously eliminated the free choice of Americans in their health care decisions. They have shown more concern about Islamic terrorism being called “Islamic terrorism” than about stopping Islamic terrorism. They believe in eliminating the death penalty for convicted first degree murderers but in using taxpayer funds to pay for the deaths of unborn children. They have consciously and deliberately fomented racial, class and gender divides in America for the sole reason that they perceived that it would help them to remain in office.
They have not apologized for doing any of these things and they show no remorse for any of it. None – zero – of them have taken a stand against the excesses of their party while they were in power.
Not only should they not be worked with, they should not even be invited to the table to be part of the discussion lest their gangrenous, festering and destructive ideas should further infect our caucus. These are not people who should be trusted to babysit a cat, much less to have access to the levers of all the coercive powers of the Federal government.
Working with these people is not what America elected you to do, Republicans. It elected you to stop them. So for the sake of America, stop being so concerned about sounding “reasonable” to the talking heads on cable and get the buckets of flaming tar ready.
We’re going to need them.

2.  Republicans Were Elected to Stop Barack Obama, Not to Work with Him
Rush Limbaugh             November 05, 2014
. . . It is rare that a political party running for office in a midterm election not standing for anything ends up with a mandate, and they have one, and it is the biggest and perhaps the most important mandate a political party has had in the recent era, and it is very simple what that mandate is. It is to stop Barack Obama. It is to stop the Democrats. There is no other reason why Republicans were elected yesterday. Republicans were not elected to govern.
How can you govern with a president that disobeys the Constitution? How can you govern with a president that is demonstrably lawless when he thinks he has to be? The Republican Party was not elected to fix a broken system or to make it work. The Republican Party was not elected to compromise. The Republican Party was not elected to sit down and work together with the Democrats. The Republican Party was not elected to slow down the speed the country is headed to the cliff and go over it slowly.
The Republican Party was elected to stop before we get to the cliff. And that's the mandate: to stop Obamacare; to stop amnesty; to stop the open borders policy of Obama and the Democrats; to stop the Big Government assault on the free enterprise economy; to stop national security policies that have allowed terrorist networks all over the world to pop up and fill a vacuum created by the absence of the world's lone superpower on the world stage. That must be stopped.
The Republican Party was elected to stop the run-up of a debt greater than all previous presidents combined have created. The Republican Party was elected to stop efforts by this administration to use the IRS and other agencies of government, in violation of manners and law, in attacking political opponents. The Republican Party was elected to put an end to this incessant and divisive lie that is the War on Women. Yesterday's result cannot in any way mean that voters want Republicans to work with Democrats. And anybody who tells you that and anybody who thinks that could not be more dangerously wrong.
You do not have election results like we had yesterday with the intent being that the voters intend the winners to work with the losers. This election was about stopping the losers, in this case the Democrats. There can be no other correct analysis of what this election was about. They were not elected to "fix a broken system."
They were elected to stop the people who are breaking the system.
The results do not mean that voters want Republicans to govern. The election also does not mean that the country's become conservative. It can't be said that there was an ideological component to the mandate, because the Republicans did not run on ideology. The Republicans ran everywhere to stop Obama, and that's what the mandate is. Now, whether they want to accept the mandate or not, that's another question.
Whether they are even aware of the mandate is an even bigger question. As I listen to the wizards of smart -- all the analysts of both parties, all movements on TV last night and today -- the thing I'm hearing from everybody is that what the voters want is for Washington to compromise and people to work together. That's not what they said.
That is not what the voters said. They didn't say it in the exit polls. They didn't say it in the election results. This was a skunking of the Democrat Party. This was the people of America "standing athwart history and yelling, 'Stop!'" There's only one entity that can do that, and that's the Republican Party. They were not elected to "get along." They were not elected to "reach across the aisle."
They were not elected to "compromise." They were not elected to "end gridlock." They were elected to stop the policies of Barack Obama and the Democrat Party. Too much damage has been done to too many people. Because of a president of the United States, people are having their jobs converted from full time to part time. The American people didn't think that was on the table.
They didn't think the president, when he was promoting Obamacare, meant that they were gonna get fewer hours to work. They didn't think it meant that they were gonna lose their health care. They didn't think it meant that their premiums were gonna skyrocket. The American people showed up yesterday and voted in numbers and voices with one message: "Stop this!" There is no legitimate alternative analysis.
I don't even know how you come up with the idea or the conclusion that the message in the vote yesterday is, "Yeah, they want us to cross the aisle and work with the Democrats." If they wanted you to work with the Democrats, you wouldn't have won. If they wanted the Republicans to work with the Democrats and to help the Democrats accomplish more, they would have just elected the Democrats!
"Yeah, well, they want us to work together. They want us to fix things. They want to stop gridlock." No, no, no. They want as much gridlock as it takes to stop what's going on. The country is careening out of control. All of the public opinion shows show it. Right track/wrong track? Two-thirds of America says: Wrong track. The number was increasing as we got closer to the election.
The mandate the Republicans have is to stop Barack Obama, to stop the further implementation of Obamacare, to stop government policies that are destroying the private, free-enterprise economy. Voters across this country know this is not how this country is supposed to be. They know that this is not what they were electing in 2008 and 2012.
So they have shown up here; they have thrown Democrats out of office all over this country. They have thrown Democrats out. Even the polling data could not have been more wrong in several key races, and that's a subject for later on in the program. But there is no confusion about the message the voters sent yesterday.
It may be the myth or the dream of the establishment types from both parties in Washington that what all this means is, "Ah, they want us to work together to get things done. They want us compromise and like each other and stop all the arguing and stop all the acrimony. They just want everybody have fun, go-along-to-get-along and get things done."
That's not what this vote was about. This vote was about stopping Barack Obama. It can't be that it was about anything else. Now, how do we do this? How do you go about stopping Barack Obama when you've taken impeachment off the table? Well, let's listen to Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz was on Fox this morning about 12:40.
He was interviewed by Bret Baier. Baier said, "One of the messages of this election could be that America wants to see Washington work. Some people said compromise would be a good thing. What's your thought on that sometimes evil word, 'compromise,' in Washington?"
CRUZ: It is incumbent on Republicans to stand up and lead. It is incumbent on us to deliver that bold, positive, optimistic agenda. You know, the fact that the people rose up and voted the Democrats out of power doesn't necessarily mean they trust the Republicans. They've given us another chance. But we've got to earn that trust, and the way to earn that trust is to listen to the priorities of the people.
And I hope come January Republicans stand united, we stand as one, and we systematically -- one after the other -- vote on positive, pro-growth ideas. We vote on tax reform. We vote on regulatory reform. We vote on embracing the American energy renaissance. We vote on going after and stopping Obamacare. We deliver on the promises that Republicans campaigned on.
RUSH: Bret Baier then says, "Well, you bring up Obamacare. You have a Democrat president. His name's on the legislation. He's gonna veto whatever you send up there. So how do you do it?"
CRUZ: With Obamacare, I think we should start by using reconciliation to pass complete and total repeal. Now, you're right: The president will, in all likelihood, veto that. If that happens, we should then systematically repeal the most onerous parts of Obamacare. We should pass legislation saying, you can't have your health insurance canceled because of Obamacare.
We should pass legislation saying, you can't be forced into part-time work like so many people, especially single moms have been. We should pass legislation saying, no bailouts for insurance companies under Obamacare. And force the president to pace those single, rifle-shot repeals and decide whether he's gonna listen to the American people or just remain an absolute partisan. And, you know, if he vetoes those bills, I think there's a real chance we might be able to get the votes to override those vetoes.
RUSH: That's how you do it. That's how you start. That's how you use the ammunition you have in your arsenal. But you must understand. They, the Republican Party, must understand that they have one objective. There was one lesson that was being taught last night, one message being sent: "Stop Obama. Stop this. Stop this country careening out of control and being transformed into something it was never founded nor intended to be.
"Stop the Democrat Party. Stop Barack Obama." The Democrat Party part of that has been dealt with in the Senate and the House. Make no mistake: If voters wanted Republicans to work with Democrats, they wouldn't have seen to it that so many Democrats got creamed last night. The country is tired of Democrats. The country is worn out with Democrats.
The country's depressed because of Democrats. The country is out of work because of Democrats. The country is feeling aimless because of Democrats. The country is not optimistic about its future because of Democrats! There is no way the vote yesterday was a signal to work with them. They have had six years of unstoppable destruction, and the American people -- and I, by the way -- want it stopped.
