Fw: Ever Wonder Why Obama's Team Seems To Lack Business Comprehension?

?

In case you missed it, on a recent Glenn Beck Show, he had a graph that illustrated the percentage of each past president's cabinet who had worked in the private business sector prior to their appointment to the cabinet. You know what the private business sector is... a real life businesses, not a government job. Here are
the percentages presented by Glen Beck.

T. Roosevelt........ 38%
Taft......................40%
Wilson ................. 52%
Harding................49%
Coolidge.............. 48%
Hoover .................. 42%
F. Roosevelt......... 50%
Truman.................50%
Eisenhower.......... 57%
Kennedy.............. 30%
Johnson.................47%
Nixon................... 53%
Ford...................... 42%
Carter................... 32%
Reagan.................56%
GH Bush.............. 51%
Clinton ................. 39%
GW Bush............. 55%

And the winner of the Chicken Dinner is..............

Obama................. 8% !!!

Yep! Thats right! Only Eight Percent!!!..the least by far of the last 19
presidents!! And these people are trying to tell our big corporations how
to run their business? They know what's best for GM...Chrysler... Wall
Street... and you and me?

How can the president of a major nation and society...the one with the most
successful economic system in world history... stand and talk about business
when he's never worked for one?.. or about jobs when he has never really had
one??!

And neither has 92% of his senior staff and closest advisers.! They've spent
most of their time in academia, government and/or non-profit jobs....or as
"community organizers" ..when they should have been in an employment line.

MAY GOD HELP US THROUGH THIS TRIAL!!

Yes, the private sector. Maybe Obama should have hired some of those geniuses from Wall Street, who apparently were so savvy they thought they could make money appear out of thin air and subsequently got us into this whole mess? Or maybe they could get some people from GM, which has been running so smoothly?

I'm sure this list is wrong percentage wise, and whatever the actual percentages are the classification is nearly impossible anyway. What counts? If a person works for a year in private business, does that put them in the "experienced column"?

And of course I love the swipe at teaching, non-profit jobs, and community organizing. Those don't count as jobs, because its only a job if your goal is to squeeze every last ounce of blood from a customer. I suppose the military falls into this category of public sector work, but wingnuts would never make that connection.

A total playing with numbers game and completely false and misleading.

I was going to post the Politifact link, but byslexic beat me to it.

Interesting constuction of "real" and "not real" jobs.

I wonder if all the government-employed firefighters, soldiers, teachers, law-enforcement officials, bus drivers, etc., and all of the non-profit employed doctors, nurses, teachers, clergy, etc. realize that the right doesn't think they have "real jobs"?

"Business" is so boring

Republics like to make up "facts" to fit whatever fantasy bullshit they are peddling today. If Glenn Beck is peddling some shit, than it's less than useless info.

If they're going to hold up having "experience in private business" as the measurement that somehow proves something or other, then what the fack happened with George W Bush?? From what I understand, Legacy Bush was handed every "job" in the private sector on the silver spoon that he was born with, and then proceeded to run said businesses into the ground. So: thanks, but no thanks, for all the "great private business" experience that W brought to office with him.

We could go on, but you get the picture. A bunch of horse hockey, per usual, and proving absoeffenlutely nothing, as usual.

Obama is slick...surprised you missed this point. He doesn't have to hire corporate execs....Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid make sure that both branches of Congress are fully stocked and feverisly working BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. Oh! BTW, Ben Bernake, Federal Reserve Chairman also has a fair share of execs. That revolving door we hear of so frequently is the one constantly spinning with corp. execs checking in to write important legislation like the Health Insurance Reform law. Written by large health insurance and HMOs. Of course, they all had to throw in their fav earmarks but now, health insurance companies will be assured of a nice steady stream of customers until 2011 when America rejects the Democratic Party and its Elitist lies and manipulations. Wake up folks. Check out Open Secrets and see how the insurance cos began investing in Health "Care" Reform 4 years ago. They even came out in 2004 and said they were "investing in development." How clear do you need to get. Obama's the man, he ...he just lets other people do his dirty work like any good pimp.

@ Anon

I'm sure you were whining the same way when the Republicans had their closed door meetings to decide policy under Bush without input or transperancy? Yes?

Also, get your narrative straight: is the Democratic party the manipulators and liars, or are they merely being manipulated by the health care industry (the same industry which spent $20 million dollars on negative campaigning last year AGAINST health care reform)?

Gee Anon (2 up, not the most immediately prior), where the fack were YOU when Dick Cheney had Energy Industry execs & lobbysists writing our country's energy policy during the last admin? Where oh where was your outrage then???

Where was your outrage & protest when Bush was stacking at the gov't agencies with incompetent cronies like "Heckuva Job, Brownie" at FEMA?

Where were your high & mighty morals when it was discovered that Bush agreed to illegally wiretapping US citizens?

I somewhat agree about your aggravation over the intrusiveness of the Health Care Industry (including big Pharma, HMOs, big Insurance & the medical device industry) in the development of the so-called health care reform bills. You're right to have some objections to what you see.

But I suspect that you were just fine & jim-dandy when the same, exact stuff went on during the 8 years of the Bush Admin.

Wake up!

Calling BHO a pimp may make you feel morally superior, but it really doesn't resolve the overall situation. Right or left, we are all being screwed by the corporations, the banks & politicians on both sides of the aisle.

Until the rightwing wakes up to this fact and stops knee-jerk reacting to every little thing that BHO or the Dems do - rather than THINKING for yourself, ANALYZING the situation & taking action no matter which Admin is in power - you will continue to be screwed, whether the Republics or the Democrats are in power.

It's really up to you.

Looks to me like the rightwing troll Anon post is just PROJECTING what the Bush/Cheney admin DID DO onto the BHO Admin.
