be sure and care enough to watch this it will change your life. or at lest it should.

Danny

SOMEBODY LEFT THE "E" OUT OF AWESOME IN THE TITLE, BUT SOME WILL BE LEFT OUT OF THE RAPTURE, TOO, SO I GUESS THAT IS COMMENSURATE WITH THE THEME...MY ONLY PROBLEM WITH THE FILM IS THAT I DOUBT THAT SO MANY OF THE MEMBERS WOULD BE TAKEN UP AND SO FEW LEFT BEHIND IN THIS DAY OF APOSTASY.

AS JESUS SAID, "WHEN THE SON OF MAN COMETH, SHALL HE FIND FAITH ON EARTH?" (LUKE 18:8). THE IMPLICATION SEEMS TO BE THAT IT WILL BE IN SCARCE SUPPLY. REGARDLESS OF YOUR VIEW OF THE RETURN OF CHRIST, IT WON'T DO YOU ANY SERIOUS DAMAGE TO WATCH THIS (WALT)...

Don't have time to watch this drivel. Good luck to the intrepid person who watches and reports back.

But: dibs on all their stuff when these ignoramuses are raptured outta here. Can't happen soon enough for me, thanks very much.

Is that the horn of Gabriel that I hear???....

What kind of god says "You're not good enough for me even though I made you in my image?"

Okay, here's the funny thing. The idea of a "Rapture", of the saved disappearing in a flash, is a VERY recent invention.

There are bible verses that say 1) Jesus will come back to gather his followers, 2) We'll all be changed in a flash, 3) an awful tribulation of successive disasters is coming, and so on. The problem is that those passages are nowhere near each other and don't fit into a actual timeline. It's only in the last hundred years or so that people started connecting this dot here with that dot over there to "discover" that the True Believers will just vanish and leave the rest to suffer through the Tribulation.

Basically, the pre-tribulation Rapture is NOT n the bible.

I'm fuzzy on the details but anyone who wants to read up on it, a Evangelical named Fred Clark keeps an absolutely fascinating blog going about the "Left Behind" books, where he's slowing going through the books an annotating them for horrendous writing *and* bad scripture interpretation. For instance, in this entry he points to a particular parable of Jesus' that indicates, if anything, that the *non-Christians* would be "taken" first:

Meh. I liked the trailer for Terminator: Salvation better, myself.

To Anon commenter #3: thanks for that info; I'll check it out as a tip of the hat to Fred Clark for doing us all a favor.

Many years ago some nice person I knew kind of "forced" those horrid "Left Behind" books (the entire series) on me. Out of perverse curiosity, I read most of the first book.

I know that all of this Book of Revelations/rapture junk is a load of hooey splodged together in more recent years, and I have actually READ most of the Bible, so I know whereat I speak.

I found the LeHaye book insufferably boring, very poorly written (as, uh, "literature" it gets a giant F Minus, minus, minus), hard to follow and not at all scripturally accurate. Plus it was anti-semitic despite the so-called love of Israel.

And so on...

When these books were first published I ran into a plethora of folks who insisted that they "couldn't put the books down" bc they were so "intriguing" and "interesting."

I could barely skim book one, and I found it hard to even glance at any of the other books. I recycled them very soon after getting them.

All this rapture stuff equates to is more "meaness" on the part of most folks who are "into it" bc it is all about: I will get raptured up to greater glory whilst YOU will rot in Hell.

Nice way to gloat. Nice way to extend your "christianist" charity (apologies to those Christians who don't think & act this way; in no way do I think this applies across the board).

Yeah, if you hated the Left Behind books, you'll LOVE his blog.

This guy has been posting every week for about four years now. He deserves a frikkin medal or something.

(I worked at Borders for a few months and HATED this series.)

Again thanks for the blog tip. It's well worth checking it out (albeit very long & detailed) if, as the prior post says, you hated the Left Behind series and/or if you want to learn more about how such apocalyptic folks think.

As I said (as echoed in Fred Clark's blog) it's mainly about these folks saying: HA HA HA, suckahs!!! We win & you lose. go rot in hell.

NICE!! Can't wait to join up w/that group, can you???
