Fw: Fwd: Presidential comparison quiz

Subject: Presidential comparison quiz

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Tony Blair a set of inexpensive and useless (to Tony Blair's UK video formatting) DVDs, when Tony Blair had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive?

Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 10 weeks -- so you'll have three years and nine-and-a-half months to come up with an answer.

Not that I've read much about it, since I DON'T GIVE A CRAP, but it seems to me that the people making most noise about the whole "gifts" business are right-wing Americans. Which is to say, those who would have complained whatever Obama gave Gordon Brown.

Also, as far as the king of Saudi Arabia is concerned, there are pictures of W holding his hand being circulated far and wide. Surely whatever idiot composed this e-mail has seen them. Must be nice to be able to shut stuff away in the forgotten memories compartment if it ruins your political arguments.

Barack Obama isn't perfect, but this e-mail was almost certainly written by someone half a step away from worshipping Ronald Regan like a god - as are most of the people that accuse left-wingers of thinking Obama is the messiah.

Brilliant strategy. Keep comparing Bush to Obama and see where that gets ya.

The two near the end about the debt are frickin killing me. If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt... Bwahahahaha!

This is too long to go into point by point, but here are the greatest hits.

"If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?"

I'd have called him hypocritical.

"If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?"

It would certainly have been an improvement over kissing him and holding his hand.

"If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?"

If it was a one-off misstatement, as opposed to showing a generalized ignorance of and contempt for non-American cultures, yes.

"If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved?"

So long as they didn't ignore memos that went along the lines of "Bin Laden determined to strike in US," and didn't spend their time on vacation and shoe-shopping while NOLA drowned, I don't think I would have cared what their income tax situation was like.

"If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?"

Beats ordering the unconstitutional surveillance, torture, and detention of American citizens.

"So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? "

Well for starters, he's managed to last 10 weeks on the job without taking 2 weeks of vacation. So, overall, I'd call that an improvement.

Like: ohmyeffengawd!! Where to begin & when to stop??? The sheer NERVE of this is what is so breathtaking.

Lessee: not only does the shrub BOW to the GROUND in front of the Bin Saud family, there are numerous photos of him: 1) holding hands w/ them and/or 2) kissing the big kahuna full on the lips (really). I'm sure there's photos of the shrub also *appearing* to bow to them. Puh-leeze!

And again with the "OH NOOOES" the n****r gave our British overlords "bad" gifts!!! OH NOOOOOES!!! Teh horror! Like: who the eff cares? I doubt that Gordon Brown or the Queen do. FEH.

And then: the shrub didn't "fill his cabinet" w/ folks who had tax problems??? Maybe, maybe not, but how about all of the Shrub's crony appointments of complete
INCOMPETENTS w/ absolutely no background for the position. I could go on for pages, but let me just mention: Heckuvajob Brownie, who was - what? - some layabout rich playboy who owned Arabian horses or somehthing? Katrina... oh, gad, fageddaboudit, cannot go on, you get the drift. aagghhh..

Yeah, I don't love it that Tim Geithner had that tax issue like about a decade ago, and I'm not sure if I'm thrilled w/him being picked to do that job, but at least Geithner has a LOAD of training, expertise, actual RELEVANT WORK experience, a good education, etc etc to back up why he was chosen.

Sheesh.

So much stupid on so many levels that it's making BOTH eyes twitch and giving me a major migraine.

I'll leave it to the rest of you posters to vent some addtional spleen on the idiocy of this bullshite canard....

And as if, BHO is just sitting around w/his feet up... GAH!!! BHO has been insanely busy since the morning AFTER the election (not just since Jan 20). Remember the interregnum bet the election and his inauguration??? It is the first time in history that a just elected Pres, who is not yet in office, has worked that hard from day one.

Just since November, I would lay good odds that BHO has put in more hours doing REAL work than the idiot monkey boy did in 8 years (esp bc lately the DICKhead Cheney has made it abundantly clear, himself, that it was HE who wielded the reigns of power in the last Admin... no big surprise).

But one poster here said it well: use Karl Rove's tactic of attacking your enemey's strength. And that's all this is: a Rovian attack.

You can tell that it comes from a more polished source than many RWF, esp bc the language used "makes sense" in terms of sentence construction, there is avoidance of incessant use of all CAPS and loads of unrelated Bibilical verses.

Me smells a Faux News, Sean Innanity/Glen Speck/Karl Rovian intruder w/this one...

"If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?"

I don't know...does kissing him count?

"If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?"

Austrians call their version of German "Austrian."

Wingnut moron.

No wonder freeperville is so confused... the daily talking points memo with which they are brainwashed & taught to vomit back on command lately is often in conflict w/the prior day's talking point.

Weren't the rightwingnuts just recently gacking on about how BHO had "taken on too much" and was trying "to do too many things at once"???

All of the above posts hit on numerous good points about the blind ignorance of this drivel, but I mean, really: which is it, freepernuts? Is BHO "too busy" or "not busy enough"????

the stupidity: it burns!!!

If George W. Bush had done any of those things... would anyone have even noticed?

FWIW, Bush gave Gordon Brown a bomber jacket a few years ago that apparently was considered to be in questionable taste, but I had to go hunting for any mention of prior gifts to find out about it.

Lots of good posts which sum it all up, but agree also w/last post: Not that I gave a $hite, but when did the media even tell us what presents any former Prez's gave to foreign dignitaries?

And why all of the ersatz outrage?

Crazy stuff... like many RWF's, there's a TON of ersatz indignation and feigned outrage at how allegedly "awfully" BHO is behaving/acting/ doing/ treating others, yadda yadda.

Get over it: we won, you lost, get used to it and shut yer yap.

If Obama were white would you be looking for petty crap like this to call him it on?
