A shame our gas, food, heating, and jobs don't come from Christmas, the schools, or the government (well, for the most part).
But if God can heal private enterprise too, more power to Him.
How can the same people who declare that we need less government in our lives demand that we all be forced to observe their religious beliefs as a matter of law?
Imagine if, instead of just using the name Jesus or a cross in public places, people decided to promote their religious beliefs by example. Instead of loud, prayerful exhortations to publicly prove their holiness, they instead just behaved in accordance with the golden rule. Oh wait, people already do that! They're just different people than the ones who need to wear their religion on their sleeve.
I'm a missionary priest and I think that letter is one of the dumbest things I've read in days.
"I know some have taken you out of our schools, government..."
It's called Separation of Church & State, and it has nothing to do with our nation's economic trevails, believe it or not.
I thought Tea Partiers loved to worship the Founding Fathers. Needless to say, Tea Partiers make up their own fictional fairy tales about what the Founding Fathers wanted, believed, said or did.
Knock knock, yoo hoo: it was the Founding Fathers who made separation of church and state part of our nation's heritage and laws.
I get so sick & tired of mega-religulous people trying to ram their belief systems down everyone else's throats. Believe what you want, and leave everyone else alone, please.
If you're concerned about the state of our nation & economy, how about *paying real attention* to what's going on, rather than being a God-botherer.
So God has somehow "un-blessed" the US and it now needs to be "re-blessed"?
Of course there are more of you who want God than don't.
But you sillies seem to think those who don't have much more powerful voices. Why is that, I wonder? Why are you so afraid of atheists and agnostics -- because it's obvious they TERRIFY you.
God's a real prick, isn't he? Why is He blessing China while screwing The Shining City on a Hill?
