That's it! Back to freedom fries for me.

I'm a little lost as to why we need to boycott France.

@ Soar

Well its cause.. um.. well if there are a few anti-Semites there then we should boycott an entire country. Right?

Of course by that logic we should boycott our own country, since we have quite a few anti-semites of our own. So everyone... go boycott America! Or something like that.

Ya, that's why they so quickly dropped all their objections and joined up with our Iraq war plans after the whole Freedom Fries thing! Total pushovers.

Well there's always been a level of anti-semitism in France, but so what? There's anti-semitism *everywhere*... duh. Like, what: let's boycott Planet Earth!!11!! Stop eating anything!!!11 Wear no clothes!!111

Allegedly a "Sept 11 was hoax" book was Number One on the French "best seller" list?? So? Per usual double-standard hypocritical rightwingers in the USA - who appear to feel vastly entitled to *demand* the entire planet *dance to their tune* - are now opposed to freedom of speech in France?? Have I gotten that right? THAT's what conservatives want to do? CENSOR French books, while telling French citizens what they can & cannot read???

I think there's a word for this: Facism.

Wake up, sheeples, indeed.

What a nasty fascist screed. Don't know what think tank this eminates from, but it's pretty heinous. And what other point is there? That because there's some anti-semitism in France, which is definitely regrettable, we're also just going to point some weird finger of blame at all the booga booga scary scary Muslims that live in France... even though the *majority* of anti-semitism acts are mostly done by white French supremicists... oh, was that tiny insignificant factoid left out of this diatribing screed??

If the nutbar fringe in Team USA wishes to "boycott" French clothes, food, wine, whatever: so what? Go for it. Most of you losers wouldn't know something from France if it hit you upside the head. Your "boycott" is stupid and useless and only reflects your ignorance.

One article (from 2006) responding to this and pointing out, for example, that the quote about anti-Jewish violence is from a 2002 Boston Globe article.

But more importantly, it reminds us that even if the problems described in the e-mail are true, that is not a fault of an entire country, and knee-jerk anti-French jingoism is not the answer.

Second anon nails it.

The reason FOX News and its masters hate France is precisely because they don't bend to pressure, especially US pressure.

I, for one, respect the hell out of them for that.

All of which makes up about 1% of the French economy. Now if you want to seriously hurt the French, boycott their Airbuses, their nuclear technology, their chemical industry or their heavy machinery. But then you might have a problem with your planes falling out of the sky.
