Subject: A $100 Bill
Subject: FW: A $100 Bill
It’s a cold day in the small Saskatchewan town of Pumphandle and Streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody is living on credit.
A Traveler comes to town and lays a $100 bill on the hotel desk saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs to pick one for the night.
As soon as he walks upstairs, the hotel owner grabs the bill and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher.
The butcher takes the $100 and runs down the street to retire his debt to the pig farmer.
The pig farmer takes the $100 and heads off to pay his bill to his supplier, the Co-op.
The guy at the Co-op takes the $100 and runs to pay his debt to the localprostitute, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer her "services" on credit.
The hooker rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill with the hotel owner.
The hotel proprietor then places the $100 back on the counter so the traveler will not suspect anything.
At that moment the traveler comes down the stairs, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, picks up the $100 bill and leaves.
No one produced anything. No one earned anything....
However, the whole town is now out of debt and now looks to the future with a lot more optimism.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how a "stimulus package" works.

So then... the Stimulus was a good thing? Is that what we are driving at?
And just think...if one of those assholes had put the money in the bank...the whole friggin' thing would have collapsed, and the inkeeper would have gone to prision for theft.
I'm missing the point of this post. Not to mention the point that apparently the conservatards support prostitution.
And how is it that everyone in town is in hoc for the same amount? And apparently they are all current with their debts, except for this $100?
Fail
Anon, I think the point is that prostitution is vital to the success of that economy.
BOOM...

I've seen this one before, and it's as much of a dumbf*ck failure now as it was then.
However, I do rather enjoy the fact that conservatives are quite willing to highlight how they endorse and support prostitution.
I guess that's a win of a sort.
Very specious, just like comparing the fed govt debt to a family budget or individual citizen's debt.
Stupid and inept and trying to twist facts to fit a non-reality by providing a ridiculous "comparison" of two entirely different things that aren't really comparable. Of course, that's no suprise. That's a hallmark of rightwing propoganda, which ... this IS!
zomg!
So, the debt that was caused to us by people using money they made out of thin air (MBS, credit default swaps, etc), and losing it is disappearing as a result of the stimulus, that is fake, and it's gone? Or have I missed something?
I might have.
Actually, couldn't that guy be describing any type of spending with money using this metaphor. i think I saw something similar to this in a comic about 5 guys on an island, and it was trying to explain why Social Credit was awesome.
