Fw: Fw: Dear Grim Reaper

Dear Grim Reaper,

So far this year you have taken away my favorite dancer Michael Jackson, my favorite actor Patrick Swayze, my favorite singer Stephen Gately and my favorite actress Farah Fawcett.

Just so you know, my favorite politician is Barack Obama.

Regards,

I hope the Secret Service is reviewing emails like this to keep tabs on rightwing teabaggers who send and receive them.

This is outright vile, revolting and disgusting.

although lefties made fun of Bush, no one I know ever, ever advocated assassinating him, yet it's the ultimate teabagger wet dream re our current POTUS and Commander in Chief.

For shame!

This one tipped the scales for me -- I have now blocked my right wing relative -- There is nothing funny about wishing for the death of our President.

This one, along with the Psalm 109:8 crazies - left me depressed and no longer willing to accept email from this source. When righties are this mean, you can't expect reason.

I wonder if the person who composed this e-mail had heard of Stephen Gately before he died.

Anyway, right-wingers may be reading this and thinking "well, I bet you wanted Bush to die!" Speaking only for myself, as only I can, I didn't and still don't. I mean, I wouldn't care that hard if he did die (peacefully, of natural causes), but the main thing is that I didn't want him to be President. If he'd just stuck with owning that baseball team or whatever it was, there'd be no trouble.

Yeah! one I forwarded here made it.

Did anyone see the Psalm 108/109 shirts?

Scholars of fascism and right-wing wingnuttery say that this sort of sentiment is extremely important in promoting political violence. The people say these things jokingly and, however much they want him to die, would never actually try to kill him (or, hopefully, any other dem or minority), but their words are empowering.

The few people out there crazy enough to actually kill people whose politics they don't like hear this kind of thing and are encouraged, getting the idea that this would actually be a good act that people would support. Without this encouragement, such violent acts would virtually never happen.

The people who send these emails are not murderers, but they are still reprehensible.

Katz: exactly. It's probably only a small minority of wingnuts who actually dream of murder, but to send forth "jokes" like this pushes the thought out there. Words are powerful. Something like this is never a "joke."

Responsibility extends to our thoughts, what we say, what we send out in emails/tweets/texts, and not just to our actions.

This is sickening and dangerous.

I remember this exact thing 4 years ago with John Paul II, George Best, Hunter S Thompson and George W Bush

Please note: above forward was received in Ireland. The pretence of shock here in these comment, as if you suddenly all believe the stuff said in stupid conservative should be taken at face value, is still amazing though.
