FW: Refuse the New Dollar Coin

FW: Refuse the New Dollar Coin

REFUSE THE NEW $ COINS
This simple action will make a strong statement.

Please help do this....refuse to accept these if/when they are handed to you. If you received one from the Post Office as change asked for a dollar bill instead.

U.S. Government is releasing New Dollar Coins

You probably guessed it, it is a beautiful coin but,
'IN GOD WE TRUST' IS GONE FROM THE FACE OF THE COIN!!!
If ever there was a reason to boycott something, THIS IS IT!!!!

DO NOT ACCEPT THE NEW DOLLAR COINS AS CHANGE

Comment: According to the U.S. Mint, an unknown number of the new one-dollar George Washington coins (at least 50,000 of them) were erroneously struck without the motto "In God We Trust" on the edge and accidentally found their way into the batch of 300 million issued on February 15, 2007. A rumor began circulating soon afterward to the effect that the religious slogan "In God We Trust", which ha
s been a standard inscription on U.S. coins since 1938 and the national motto since 1956, was intentionally omitted from the entire run of one-dollar coins. That rumor is false, though it remains unclear whether it was inspired by the minting error or the fact that the newly designed coin, properly manufactured, bears the inscription "In God We Trust" on its outer edge instead of its face, per the Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005 which stated:

10) In order to revitalize the design of United States coinage and return circulating coinage to its position as not only a necessary means of exchange in commerce, but also as an object of aesthetic beauty in its own right, it is appropriate to move many of the mottos and emblems, the inscription of the year, and the so-called "mint marks" that currently appear on the 2 faces of each circulating coin to the edge of the coin, which would allow larger and more dramatic artwork on the coins reminiscent of the so-called "Golden Age of Coinage" in the United States...

Even though the omission on some of the coins was a "minting error", the fact is the words "In God We Trust" were removed from the face of the coins supposedly for "artistic" reasons. If that was the true reason then why wasn't "1st President 1789 - 1797" placed on the side of the coin and "In God We Trust" placed on the front?? It is a historical fact that George Washington invoked the help of God on many occasions and was not ashamed to voice his strong belief in God, so I will still refuse to accept the coin.

I think they'd be happy. The text around the edges was not punted there to hide it, like the small text in a pharmaceutical ad, that's the guard against counterfeiters. Turns out it's a lot harder to stamp text into the side of a coin than cast it on either side. "In God We Trust" (and "E Plurbus Unum" - which our official motto for a LOT longer they don't seem to be missing) is now thwarting thieves.

Oh, and your patriotic duty should actually be to use the coins instead of dollar bills. A paper bill lasts 18 months in the wild; coins last decades. The US Mint itself estimates they could save $500 Million if they didn't have to keep printing and shipping all those dollar bills.

It's a shame; I was getting my hopes high there for a minute.

Ah, I see they realized the motto was on the edge. I'd love to see "In God we trust" not on currency anymore, and of course these people's reactions would be priceless. Yes, I'm one of those 14% of evil scary atheists who "want God taken out of everything." (otherwise known as 'believing in separation of church and state')

I agree, this is an outrage! Refuse the coins!

Or better yet, go out and collect every single one you can and then ship them to me. I'll be sure that they get the treatment that they "deserve".

Don't be shy people, its your patriotic duty to go to the bank and demand that the entirety of your savings be given to you in the form of these devil coins. Collect all you can and then send them my way, I'll take care of this abomination and make sure it never bothers you again.

I'm pretty sure that since the coins are legal tender for all debts both public and private, you can be required to accept them in payment.

Sheesh... these people just love getting their nickers in a knot about anything and everything. I don't know when they find the time to have anything equating a "life"... oh yeah: they probably don't have one!!!! What a bunch of dunderheads.

firstly, In god we trust only started getting used in the 1950's. It was not etched on the tablets that Moses brought down from Mt. Sinai.

But I agree w/ one of the above posts: hey, y'all, just send them satan coins to me, and I'll "deal" w/'em for ya!

Ummm...well, Moses' tablets did say "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me" (Exodus 20:2-3), which is a pretty good paraphrase of "In God we trust" except in the second person.

But the valid points to be made are a) you don't have to believe in God to be an American, and b) it's only 50 years old anyway, so it isn't an age-old American value.

If you look at the new 2009 coins, they have the phrase "In God We trust" moved back to the front of the coin.

I am a true patriot and I love America I think we have the greatest country because a group of men who loved God (laugh if you like--it is true--I have proof)men who sincerlly loved God and knew the Bible wanted to creat a country that would also love Him and His word. If you look at the consitution in compaired to the law in the Bible you will see a direct corrilation.
That being said, If God created this country than we NEED to trust in Him to keep it. If you agree, great, pray for our country. If you do not agree I am praying for you!
PS separation of church and state was not ment to keep church out of the government--in fact just the opposite they did not want the government to control the church. Just read some of T. Jefferson's, B. Franklin's, and A. Hamilton's writtings, along with the other 55 writers of the consitution!

IN GOD WE TRUST was a result of our heritage in God almight the one and only creator of you...even if you don't believe it..you will face Him one day and wish you had trusted in Him!!

I'm so glad the Government is stepping up and doing this...FINALLY! I hope this is just the begining, they should remove that filth from all currency. First off, this country was not founded as a Christian nation, it has no official religion. Many of the founding fathers, including Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson where Masons, not catholic or any type of protestant religion. Plus, those of us that are religious in this nation are composed of multiple religions, not all religious people here are monotheistic, or maybe their religion does not have a god per se, so what about them? Are they to be forced to accept God just because some radical right-wing conservatives are accustomed to getting their way in this country? No more!

Are you people serious!! What does God have to do with money really. Arent their more important things to worry about than this phrase? It doesn't belong on any currency. Since it is and has been since the beginning, I think we should go ahead and charge advertisement fees to all churches. Bottom line it doesn't belong on currency!

Masonry is not a religion. Many Christian men are Masons. Look it up.
