It's people such as this that have made America GREAT!  I salute them with pride.

The story is about Channing Moss, who was impaled by a live RPG during a Taliban ambush while on patrol. Army protocol says that medivac choppers are never to carry anyone with a live round in him. Even though they feared it could explode, the flight crew said damn the protocol and flew him to the nearest aid station. Again, protocol said that in such a case the patient is to be put in a sandbagged area away from the surgical unit, given a shot of morphine and left to wait (and die) until others are treated. Again, the medical team ignored the protocol. Here's a short video put together by the Military Times, which includes actual footage of the surgery where Dr. John Oh, a Korean immigrant who became a naturalized citizen and went to West Point , removed the live round with the help of volunteers and a member of the EOD (explosive ordinance disposal) team. Moss has undergone six operations but is doing well at home in Gainesville , GA. I think you'll find the video absolutely remarkable.

WHAT???? A nasty dirty Korean *immigrant* did something bravel?? Why why why ... what would Jan Brewer say?? Did John OH have proper identification proving that he was all American citizen-y enough to touch the hem of Channing Moss's white guy Team USA military uniform????

And btw, inquiring minds REALLY need to know if John Oh stayed up late on July 16 1969 to watch - LIVE on TV - the USA conquer the Moon & plant the US flag 'n all.

After all conservabaggers *simply cannot see* how Barry Oilbummer can properly relate to whitey 'murkins bc he didn't stay up late to watch Neil Armstrong land on the moon - live while it happened.

So I gotta know exactly what John Oh was doing at the fateful moment that Neil Armstrong put his foot on the moon... otherwise, according to T-GOPers, John ain't American-y enough to believe or venerate or be a hero or something or other or be all bravel enough.

Left wingers are MORONS!!! They look past the real theme of the forward and point out misspellings and other little tidbits that have no relationship to the main subject.

Is it too much to ask that a forward celebrating such valor and courage should at least spell the word "bravery" correctly? Is that too much to ask? Isn't it disrespectful to the acts described to be so slipshod with basic writing skills?

ferschitz, bravo!

It's great that this worked out alright, and that dozens of people weren't splattered by that live round. Hey, I bet there are stories where that happened, too. Those soldiers would have been, of course, equally brave. But less lucky.

The theme is that our soldiers are very brave and risking their lives. We all get that, nimrod.

The ISSUE, as opposed to the theme, is WHY THEY ARE STILL THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Hey fershitz: Cherchez la femme!

As a public service I offer this link:http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Front_Page/JB26Aa01.html.

I hope you read it. Inquiring mind? Really? You gonna continue to run with that?

I thought the theme was, "We apparently have protocols that should be circumvented by the soldiers they are meant to protect."

Thx 4 Fish said...

Like Valyard, the question that jumped to my mind was: Does the military ususally celebrate circumvented protocols? If this story is true, it was indeed heroic of the individuals involved and they deserve praise. But I do know that other soldiers who do not follow orders by publicizing unpleasant information about the military are generally charged and imprisoned and not celebrated-though they may also be acting with conscience, patriotism and bravery.

Nothing like a dated, poorly written piece of psuedo-science based hack job propaganda to answer the important questions.

Questions like:

How low can wingnuts stoop?

Is there no end to their idiocy?

Do they have anything real to offer to discourse?

And so forth...

Dear Anon-ConservaBlogger:

YOWZER! Well, geez, NOW that I KNOW that, that definitively PROVES that Barry Oilbummer just ain't all that 'murkin... at least according WHITE RED NECKED 'murkins.

Cherchez la femme - eh? Savez-vous même ce que cela signifie?

Give it a rest, please. I don't even LIKE Obama, but frankly I'm not *distracted* by trivial idiocies like that pathetic junk.

Wake. Up. Get. a. Clue.

There's a class war going on, and the Elites - like David Koch who fully funds the Tea Party in order to get his well-paid goons in to tear down the middle class - don't like you ConservaBaggers any more than they like me. We're ALL just serfs to be ground under into third world status.

This story is in fact true.

It's also the plot of a MASH episode.

Go figure, huh?

The plot of a left-wing anti-war show written, directed, and acted in by a bunch of Hollywood liberals is now a true story that the right thinks is a heartwarming tale.

But liberals suck, right? Better to keep voting for the party of war-mongering billionaires! Their tax cuts are doing you SO much good!

An heroic story for sure. Funny, I saw and American soldier cared for by an American Army medical team comprised of Americans who give of themselves every day. Lefties always see colors, too bad, it is a great story.
(BTW this story is 4 years old and Dr.Oh is now Chief of General Surgery at Darnell Med Center at Fort Hood.)
PS to Obama/Clinton:Matching up the serial numbers on the RPG to its original makers would make a great welcome gift the next time the Ruskies and Chicoms come into town.

Where exactly did any "lefties" say or imply that this wasn't a good story? And when did "color" come into the discussion? Lame.

Oh we do NOT want to get into that game. There are plenty of American made weapons all over the freaking globe, many in the hands of people who are not always the nicest people to be associated with. Ask the protesters in Egypt all about it...

To latter ConservaAnon:

No, it's not "the left" who always sees "colors," but nice try at *projecting* what the right does constantly onto progressives. I note that Conservatives play that neato trick all the time.

Read through the past 10 or so of these RIGHTwing forwards, and it might just provide a clue as to who sees "colors" and who's racist or not.

It's all very nice to come here with your heartwarming "story" about good ole conservative you never even *noticed* the races of the soldiers mentioned in the ever so heartwarming story... yet look at Rightwing Forward after RWF, and they're riddled with racism, bigotry & sexism throughout.

Nice try, but doesn't work for any sentient being who uses their brain, is even halfway honest while reading the nasty racist diatribes spewed forth in an endless stream of Rightwing Forwards.

I don't think conservatives "get" the concept of irony, along with not having much of a sense of humor.
