FW: A RECENT VIRGINIA CHURCH SERVICE

A RECENT VIRGINIA CHURCH SERVICE

I would love to give the Minister of this predominantly black church in
Virginia a hug and a high five. This guy is obviously a leader and not one
of the sheep. Perhaps we should each decide who our real leader
is............. It is amazing to see that very little has changed in 4,000
years.

RECENT VIRGINIA CHURCH SERVICE -STIMULUS SERMON ... Gen 47:13-27

Good morning, brothers and sisters; it's always a delight to see the pews
crowded on Sunday morning, and so eager to get into God's Word. Turn with
me in your Bibles, if you will to the 47th chapter of Genesis, we'll begin
our reading at verse 13, and go through verse 27.

Brother Ray, would you stand and read that great passage for us?

....(reading)...

Thank you for that fine reading, Brother Ray... So we see that economic
hard times fell upon Egypt, and the people turned to the government of
Pharaoh to deal with this for them. And Pharaoh nationalized the grain
harvest, and placed the grain in great storehouses that he had built. So
the people brought their money to Pharaoh, like a great tax increase, and
gave it all to him willingly in return for grain. And this went on until
their money ran out, and they were hungry again.

So when they went to Pharaoh after that, they brought their livestock -their
cattle, their horses, their sheep, and their donkey - to barter for grain,
and verse 17 says that only took them through the end of that year..

But the famine wasn't over, was it? So the next year, the people came
before Pharaoh and admitted they had nothing left, except their land and
their own lives. "There is nothing left in the sight of my lord but our
bodies and our land. Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our
land? Buy us and our land for food, and we with our land will be servants
to Pharaoh." So they surrendered their homes, their land, and their real
estate to Pharaoh's government, and then sold themselves into slavery to
him, in return for grain. What can we learn from this, brothers and sisters?

That turning to the government instead of to God to be our provider in hard
times only leads to slavery? Yes. That the only reason government wants
to be our provider is to also become our master? Yes.

But look how that passage ends, brothers and sisters! Thus Israel settled
in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen. And they gained possessions in
it, and were fruitful and multiplied greatly." God provided for His people,
just as always has! They didn't end up giving all their possessions to
government, no, it says they gained possessions!

But I also tell you a great truth today, and an ominous one. We see the
same thing happening today - the government today wants to "share the wealth
"once again, to take it from us and redistribute it back to us. It wants to
take control of healthcare, just as it has taken control of education, and
ration it back to us, and when government rations it, then government
decides who gets it, and how much, and what kind. And if we go along with
it, and do it willingly, then we will wind up no differently than the people
of Egypt did four thousand years ago - as slaves to the government, and as
slaves to our leaders.

What Mr. Obama's government is doing now is no different from what Pharaoh's
government did then, and it will end the same. And a lot of people like to
call Mr. Obama a "Messiah," don't they? Is he a Messiah? A savior? Didn't
the Egyptians say, after Pharaoh made them his slaves, "You have saved our
lives; may it please my lord, we will be servants to Pharaoh"?

Well, I tell you this - I know the Messiah; the Messiah is a friend of
mine; and Mr. Obama is no Messiah! No, brothers and sisters, if Mr. Obama
is a character from the Bible, then he is Pharaoh.

Bow with me in prayer, if you will.

Lord, You alone are worthy to be served, and we rely on You, and You alone.
We confess that the government is not our deliverer, and never rightly will
be. We read in the eighth chapter of 1 Samuel, when Samuel warned the
people of what a ruler would do, where it says "And in that day you will cry
out because of your king, whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the LORD
will not answer you in that day." And Lord, we acknowledge that day has
come. We cry out to you because of the ruler that we have chosen for
ourselves as a nation. Lord, we pray for this nation. We pray for revival,
and we pray for deliverance from those who would be our masters. Give us
hearts to seek You and hands to serve You, and protect Your people from the
atrocities of Pharaoh's government.

In God We Trust....

"Doesn't this remind you of "The Obama Tactics" in America today ?"

"Oh yeah, I forgot, we're not a Christian nation anymore !"

HOPE is the ability to hear the music of the future.
FAITH is the courage to dance to it today.

Pffft. Yeah, you WISH.

Then you could really moan and groan and stoke
the fires of your collective persecution complex.

So lets get this straight:

GOD decides that there is to be 7 years of feast followed by 7 of famine.

GOD tells Pharoah this in a dream, which is interpreted by Joseph. Joseph becomes the Grain Czar, basically because God wills to to be so.

Joseph plans ahead so there will actually be food in the years of famine so everyone won't starve on account of GOD's deciding to be a hard ass and kill all the crops.

As a result, GOD's chosen golden boy becomes a big shot who basically takes everything from the people of Egypt because GOD made it possible.

Seems to me like things worked out a certain way because GOD willed it so. He killed their crops, he impoverished them, he made them sell out to Pharaoh and become slaves.

So, wingnuts, tell me how we know that this whole economic mess wasn't some plan by God to put BHO in power so he could implement his chosen policies?

gruaud said...

@ anon:

That was a thing of beauty.

ferschitz said...

Thanks, Anon. Agree w/Gruaud: said beautifully.

It's been one of my bugaboos, as well. Wingnuts believe that ONLY they have some "direct line" to God, and so, if they don't like what's going on, it means that God is displeased, too... because God told them so, or they KNOW what's on God's mind! Project, much?

I've long said, if you really believe that God is guiding everything, then I guess God decided that BHO gets to be Pres and enact stuff. Get over it.

Not sure what it is that they don't "get" about their own man-made thesis about how "god" operates.

But that's why we also speak about the vast cognitive dissonance on the right.

Sore losers, temper-tantrum throwing three year olds screaming about how they didn't "their" (eg, not God's) way.

To Son of Dad "FW: A RECENT VIRGINIA CHURCH SERVICE"

Woo hoo! It's about time someone out there told the truth! THANK YOU!

Hey Mr. Leftist, Obama-lover, play your lottery and win 100 million. The catch is that you MUST GIVE ME and your neighbors 1/3 of it and then give the government 1/3. On top of that, you are going to be taxed again whenever you purchase anything with it. It will also put you in a different tax bracket, so now you are paying more taxes. So, how's that hope and change working out for you now?

OR, win that lottery and it may be illegal to do so UNLESS you divide it among us all. NOW, HOW'S THAT HOPE AND CHANGE WORKING OUT FOR YA?

Obama is a socialist marxist commie, clear and simple, and it doesn't take someone with 2 degrees and a PHD to know that. If you don't think so, then it's probably because YOU WANT WHAT EVERYONE ELSE HAS, BUT YOU DON'T WANT TO WORK FOR IT.

THIS CURRENT ADMINISTRATION IS RUINING THIS COUNTRY FOR OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN. We must stop them before we all become slaves to their life-long careers.

Go here: http://www.usdebtclock.org/

A devastating CNN poll that shows that 61 percent of Americans reject ObamaCare. The poll also found that just 36 percent supported it. In response to other questions, 79 percent of respondents in the poll said they thought the bill would increase the deficit, and 85 percent said it would raise their taxes.

Reid and the Democrats have shut out all GOP input and want you to believe that the public option is gone. Instead they have cut a deal creating a path to the public option.

Reid's Backroom Scheme To Create Government-run Healthcare:
-Abandon the public option in the Senate bill to get votes
-Cut Medicare Benefits and Funding
-Add 30 million NEW patients over 55 to Medicare
-Increase Medicaid funding to cover the uninsured

Do not be fooled by the Senior Senate Democrat tentative deal reached to abandon ObamaCare's government-run insurance plan. Any bill will have to be reconciled with ObamaCare passed by the House that has the public option the cornerstone of Obama's plan to create government-run healthcare.

Make no mistake, Democrats will push through the public option in back room committee meetings if this bill is passed.

"Only 27% of voters nationwide favor a single-payer health care system (Government Run ObamaCare) where the federal government provides coverage for everyone." - From Rasmussen Report

64% Of Voters Not Affiliated With Either Party Reject The Idea.
- Rasmussen Report

There are 17 new taxes imposed by the bill, which also creates a levy on elective plastic surgery - some call it "BOTAX" - and places a 40 percent excise tax on those who have generous health care plans.

"If you have insurance, you get taxed. If you don't have insurance, you get taxed. If you need a life-saving medical device, you get taxed. If you need prescription medicines, you get taxed," said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Kentucky Republican, who is leading the fight against the bill.

The American people are TIRED of being lied to -- which is why over ONE MILLION of us went to Washington, D.C., to bring the voice of the MAJORITY to the doorstep of Congress. You see, the "sleeping giant" in America has been awoken... and we aren't going back to sleep... not while our own government tries to cram a socialist health care plan down our throats!

CNN, CBS, ABC, and NBC would have you think that only a few thousand showed up. What a lie.
There were more than 1 million people there lining the streets, behaving, without any trouble, and
there was absolutely NO TRASH on the streets afterwards because conservative Americans love
this country and contrary to what the left would want you to believe, we believe in caring for our country.

IF YOU DO NOT LIKE WHAT OBAMA AND CONGRESS ARE DOING TO THIS COUNTRY, THEN GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND CALL YOUR LOCAL SENATORS/CONGRESSMEN AND TELL THEM SO. DOING NOTHING WILL NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. AND YES, YOUR VOTE DOES COUNT. Vote in the 2010 election YOUR WAY. If you want a Democrat. Vote that way. If you want an Independent, then vote for one. BUT, MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION AND ACTUALLY GO OUT AND VOTE!

2010 - THE YEAR OF MAJOR CHANGE: we are kicking Congress in the butt
2012 - Obama will leave the White House as the biggest loser, except for Jimmy Carter, of all time

There were 3 good arguments that Jesus was black:

1. He called everyone brother

2. He liked Gospel

3. He didn't get a fair trial

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Jewish:

1. He went into His Father's business

2. He lived at home until he was 33

3. He was sure his Mother was a virgin and his Mother was sure He was God

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Italian:

1. He talked with His hands

2. He had wine with His meals

3. He used olive oil

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was a Californian:

1. He never cut His hair

2. He walked around barefoot all the time

3. He started a new religion

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was an American Indian:

1. He was at peace with nature

2. He ate a lot of fish

3. He talked about the Great Spirit

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Irish:

1. He never got married.

2. He was always telling stories.

3. He loved green pastures..

But the most compelling evidence of all - 3 proofs that Jesus was a WOMAN:

1. He fed a crowd at a moment's notice when there was virtually no food

2. He kept trying to get a message across to a bunch of men who just didn't get it

3. And even when He was dead, He had to get up because there was still work
to do....

Can I get an AMEN!!

Five Myths of Socialized Medicine

A great read for all your newbies out there who think Christianity is the same as Socialism. WRONG.

Hey gruaud...
You opened the door when you stated that I WAS A 'HE'. And, YES, I have a degree in Political Science from Yale, and also one in History (major), which is what my PHD is in, so I do think I am an authority, moreso than you, unless you can beat that without lying. Am I smarter? Maybe not, but it sure beats people like you who sit around and do nothing but blog all day. At least I actually can formulate an opinion based on history and current facts. Right now, I am in between classes because of the holidays. So, I am blogging... you see, I was one of those liberals out there who hated conservative values and big corporations, etc.. UNTIL I saw the truth in why we have all this BECAUSE OF MY EDUCATION. Believe me when they say that education is power - it is! I think what most people fail to understand is that if we enforced our current laws that are already on the books, we wouldn't have corporate greed, which is why some liberals hate big business anyways. But, if you force them out, you force all business out, and there goes Free Enterprise and here comes socialism, also known as BIG GOVERNMENT. Try reading your history books. Try getting an education so you know what you are talking about before your criticize something you know absolutely NOTHING about. And, if you looked in the mirror right now, could you honestly say YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT? I doubt it. I do, so put up or shut up. I debate morons like you all the time and it sickens me because instead of trying to making this country better, you figure it would be better to tear it all down and start over. What a moron. Our country is not broke. It's our politicians, it's our government, it's our laws. FIX THEM. Leave businesses alone until you fix what needs fixing. Go ahead and rant and rave. That's fine. For every 3 of you out there who don't know any better, there are 10 who do and that's what makes this country so great! And, the problem is, those 3 out there don't want to work to be part of the 10....they wanna cry to Daddy government to gimme, gimme, gimme. Very pathetic. Don't you think, oh smart one?

SOCIALIZED MEDICINE DOES NOT FULFILL ITS PROMISES

HEALTHCARE IS NOT A RIGHT, AS YOU MAY THINK. It is NOT in our Bill of Rights, nor is it listed anywhere in our Constitution, so I really wish you'd all stop saying that you have a right to healthcare. YOU DON'T. Go get an education, make some money, and buy it like the rest of us. It is part of our free enterprise system. If it's a right, then so is a brand new free house, a free car, and free food. IT IS NOT A RIGHT.

Socialized medicine is often lauded in countries that have it, but America's health care system is more effective and produces better health outcomes, says John Goodman, president of the National Center for Policy Analysis.

Socialized medicine, explains Goodman, makes many promises that it does not keep:

* Health care as a right: Not only do patients have to wait for care, but if they are the hundredth person waiting for an operation they are not entitled to the hundredth surgery.
* Better quality of care: Due to better access to technology, Americans enjoy two or more times as many procedures per capita -- such as renal dialysis, coronary bypass, and coronary angioplasty -- than their counterparts in Canada and Britain.
* Better efficiency: Among women diagnosed with breast cancer, only one-fifth die in the United States compared to one-third in France and Germany and almost one-half in Britain; similarly, Americans enjoy significantly better outcomes for prostate cancer.
* Equal access to health care: While minorities in the United States are underserved, this is also true for native populations in Canada; elderly patients are frequently discriminated against in socialized systems, which prefer to serve younger patients.

Nonetheless, says Goodman, the American system is far from perfect. One of its key shortcomings, he explains, is a lack of market forces: Half the health care spending is done by government and most of the rest is done by bureaucratic institutions.

The cosmetic surgery market, he explains, is about the only market where patients are spending their own money. There, patients get package prices and can compare prices. Over the course of the 1990s, when costly technology was emerging, the average price of cosmetic surgery fell in real terms, notes Goodman.

@ Anon

Did you get your "degree" from Yale.com or Yale.net?

Your examples are idiotic and you're worldview is clearly divorced from reality. Hell, divorced might be too generous a term, because that implies that they were once connected.

If you want to post your hairbrained rants please go ahead and send them to the site owner, I'm sure he'll be glad to put it up as its own post so we can all point and laugh.

And for the love of God use some paragraph breaks!

Oh that's right: you were probably all rah rah more war on a credit card. And now that things are crap, you just walk away from it and blame someone else.

Feh. Stupid trolls blog just the way their other RWF's are: lotta word salad signifying absoeffenlutely nothing, take no responsibility for their own choices and actions, totally victimize themselves, their research is lousy, and then yell and point at those with whom you disagree, rather than engaging in a respectful discussion.

No surprises there - eh? Seen it all before. Shoo, shoo, go away trollie.... not interested in the shit sandwich you're trying to sell. Stinks just as badly as you do.

@ lady with a PhD:

Well, I minored in history/poli-sci and have
an advanced degree in the biological sciences.
So I think I have an education. I just don't
feel the need to show off. "Ooo, look at
me, I'm so much smarter than all of you
combined!" Like I said, it seems childish.
A couple of Phd's at my work feel this need,
too. It's not uncommon, I guess.

I find your opinions, and that is all they are,
to be rather shallow, as some others here
have noted. And in my opinion, conservative
ideology is steeped in selfishness, not
self-reliance. And this permeates your
posts.

So you wanna debate me, great. I don't know
if we can PM (thus not clogging the thread)
but we can spar publicly, too.

My free time is early mornings, but I spot
check during the day when I have a moment.

ferschitz said...

Hey Gruaud: good luck w/that. That person doesn't seem interested in "debating" anything. Rather it's all one-upmanship and showing off, along with selfishly blaming others for their perceived misdeeds.

But: good luck with that. Better you than me.

And frankly, I could list all the degrees that I have (I have several advanced degrees), but I don't feel the need to IMPRESS everyone with how much "smarter" I am than everyone else. Nor does having degrees prove a fig about whether you know more or are more correct than someone else.

I know plenty of dumb lawyers, judges and PhD's, but often they are the kind most likely to be bullies with something to "prove."

Actually, if I won the lottery, that's more or less what would happen, because I would have to pay taxes on the winnings, which would get used to provide government services such as roads, Medicaid, military defense, and federally funded scientific research. And right now, I would have to pay only about 33% of it (although at Clinton levels it would have been a little closer to 35-40%). And I'm okay with that.

Also, epic fail citing the Cato Institute. Fake academia doesn't count.
