Subject: Can President Obama be defeated in 2012?
According to Walter Williams, we have reached and passed the “tipping point”. He says we now have more “takers” than tax payers! I can only pray that he is wrong! - Noel

Can President Obama be defeated in 2012? No. He can't.
I am going on record as saying that President Barak Obama will win a second term. The media won't tell you this because a good election campaign means hundreds of millions (or in Obama's case billions) of dollars to them in advertising. But the truth is, there simply are no conditions under which Barak Obama can be defeated in 2012.
The quality of the Republican candidate doesn't matter. Obama gets reelected.
Nine percent unemployment? No problem. Obama will win.
Gas prices moving toward five dollars a gallon? He still wins.
The economy soars or goes into the gutter. Obama wins.
War in the Middle East? He wins a second term.
America's role as the leading Superpower disappears? Hurrah for Barak Obama!
The U.S. government rushes toward bankruptcy, the dollar continues to sink on world markets and the price of daily goods and services soars due to inflation fueled by Obama's extraordinary deficit spending? Obama wins handily.
You are crazy Williams. Don't you understand how volatile politics can be when overall economic, government, and world conditions are declining? Sure I do. And that's why I know Obama will win.
The American people are notoriously ignorant of economics. And economics is the key to why Obama should be defeated. Even when Obama's policies lead the nation to final ruin, the majority of the American people are going to believe the bait-and-switch tactics Obama and his supporters in the media will use to explain why it isn't his fault. After all, things were much worse than understood when he took office.
Obama's reelection is really a very, very simple math problem. Consider the following:
1) Blacks will vote for Obama blindly. Period. Doesn't matter what he does. It's a race thing.
2) College educated women will vote for Obama. Though they will be offended by this, they swoon at his oratory. It's really not more complex than that,
3) Liberals will vote for Obama. He is their great hope,
4) Democrats will vote for Obama. He is the leader of their party and his coattails will carry them to victory nationwide,
5) Hispanics will vote for Obama. He is the path to citizenship for those who are illegal and Hispanic leaders recognize the political clout they carry in the Democratic Party,
6) Union members will vote overwhelmingly for Obama. He is their key to money and power in business, state and local politics,
7) Big Business will support Obama. They already have. He has almost $1 Billion dollars in his reelection purse gained largely from his connections with Big Business and is gaining more everyday. Big Business loves Obama because he gives them access to taxpayer money so long as they support his social and political agenda,
8) The media love him. They may attack the people who work for him, but they love him. After all... to not love him would be racist,
9) Most other minorities and special interest groups will vote for him. Oddly, the overwhelming majority of Jews and Muslims will support him because they won't vote Republican. American Indians will support him. Obviously homosexuals tend to vote Democratic. And lastly,
10) Approximately half of independents will vote for Obama. And he doesn't need anywhere near that number because he has all of the groups previously mentioned. The President will win an overwhelming victory in 2012.

I really hope an actual college professor didn't write this, because it denies (at best) pretty much everything we know about US presidential elections.
The economy is, and pretty much always has been, the #1 determinant in who wins these elections. There are other issues and candidate quality matters, but mostly they affect the point spread, not so much the result. If the economy is going strong or getting stronger, the incumbent party will do well (as in, better than you might expect given the partisan breakdown of the electorate). If not, the challenger will do well. The key is always independent and swing voters, who generally cast their votes based on economic conditions.
As for the supposed wisdom, lets look at the breakdown:
1) Blacks tend to give strong support to democrats, regardless of race. Even John Kerry and Al Gore, two of the whitest guys you'll ever see, got 90% of the black vote.
2) College educated women do tend to vote slightly more for Democrats. This has been the case for generations.
3) Liberals support Democrats. Notice a pattern?
4) Democrats support Democrats (crazy!)
5) Latinos (except Cubans) support Democrats
6) Union members support Democrats
So the big evil conspiracy here is that.... groups who traditionally support democratic candidates might continue to do so! Fucking incredible Professor! Someone call the Nobel Committee!
7) Big Business supports Obama... huh? What? I thought he was the most "anti business" President ever! Haven't they already spent billions fighting his agenda from day 1?
And if they do, in fact, support him... isn't that a good thing in Republican eyes? I thought we were suppose to worship big business?
8) The media love him? No, the media love ratings and controversy, and they hate to be called "liberal" by Republicans, so they spend extra time sucking up to anyone with an R by their name and giving credence to any crazy right wing theory or meme. Because facts aren't as important as "balance".
9)Another list of groups which traditionally support Democrats supporting a Democrat. Though I can't imagine why gays would be so anti-Republican...
Finally, point 10 is just fucking wrong, on multiple counts.
If the election were held today, Obama would NOT win half of independents, unless the Republican was an absolute nutter (possible, I know). The state of the economy and his current approval among independents show that he would lose this group to a generic Republican.
Point 10 is also wrong to say that he, or anyone, could win the Presidency while losing significantly more than half of the Independent vote. That's just wrong. Its wrong for Democrats, its wrong for Republicans. The math just doesn't work on that, and this supposed Professor (if he did write this) should be ashamed of writing such crap.
Oh lord, no. He's a "professor" in name only. His chair was purchased by the gigantic RW think tank the John M. Olin Foundation. They also pay his salary, not the university.
Walter E. Williams is the same guy who wonders if democracy is really such a great idea, after all.
Btw, nice demolition, anon.
Oh no, a hivemind of enough Americans to elect a President are going to blindly elect Obama instead of...
...Trump? T-Paw? Romney? Newt?
Obama seems to love stepping on his base's toes, but he can afford to when the Tea Party will eviscerate any Republican popular enough to be electable.
Maybe Paul Ryan can run, now that he's so well known for trying to shutter Medicare!
Its kinda fishy that Mr. Distinguished Professor misspelled Barack twice. Also as noted by others, if he's a prof of economics you'd think he'd mention the effects of economics on presidential elections instead of focusing on racist, sexist and other bigoted reasoning. The writer is either not a professor, or a really bad one.
Well I've stated often here that I am as far left as one can go, and I really really really dislike Obama, who I see as a Manchurian candidate for the hard-right NeoCon agenda.
Sure Big Business LOVES Obama bc Obama has given them a huge giant PASS the entire time he's been in office. WHAT has changed? Banks & Wall ST and other giant corporations are making more money than ever, hiring less US citizens than ever, getting HUGER bonuses than ever, and yet Obama's considering cutting their taxes, yet again! What's not to love with Obama from their perspective??
This jerkwad's already been shown to be a neocon thinktank plant, and he's just mouthing out the party line.
this is sent out to reliably rile up the booga booga scary scary T-GOPers, who don't know how to think for themselves and who enjoy the Southern Strategy.
Whatever. My prediction (fwiw) is that Obama will win in 2012. It's why I think we're seeing an ever increasingly nutbar fringe of doltish hack idiots being put forth as the GOP "candidates." Obama will seem "reasonable" by comparison (which, to be truthful, in some ways he is).
The upper 1% hired Obama, put him in office, and Obama does their bidding. If the upper 1% wants Obama to appear to "win" in 2012, then the upper 1% will "make it so."
The end.
This is just sent out to make the T-GOPers feel like they have some affect or impact on the political process. In point of fact, no "average citizen" has any affect or impact anymore, and it's my opinion that our votes are worthless, as was evidenced quite boldly in Bush v. Gore.
I shall always vote, but I live in factual reality and I know that it's what the upper 1% wants that happens.
Again: the end.
@ Ferschitz
Big business tolerates Obama because they can control him to a certain extent, but they would much prefer Republicans in charge. Last year showed us that: thanks to CU, oceans of money from "Big Business" flooded to support Republicans and/or attack Democrats.
They will tolerate him, and probably even hedge their bets with some donations, but the majority of Business money and support is going to fall behind the Republican candidate, whoever it turns out to be. So its incorrect for the author of this to say "big business will support him, therefore he will win". If he wins, it will be the less preferred outcome for Big Business.
So unions, blacks, hispanics, minorities, non-Christians, and gays will all support the Democratic candidate?
I can't imagine why. Can't all of those lazy, overpaid, welfare-collecting, illegal, un-american, God-hating, sexual sickos see that the Republicans are their friends?
Hey folks, like so much else that gets e-mailed around to the gullible, this column is a phony, Williams had nothing to do with it:
