First Lady Requires More Than 20 Attendants
There has never been anyone in the White House at any time that has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady's social life. One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense, when even Hillary, only had three; Jackie Kennedy one; Laura Bush one; and prior to Mamie Eisenhower social help came from the President's own pocket.
Note: This does not include makeup artist Ingrid Grimes-Miles, 49, and "First Hairstylist" Johnny Wright, 31, both of whom traveled aboard Air Force One to Europe .
Recession, Depression, What, Michelle Worry?
July 7, 2009
Dr. Paul L. Williams
"In my own life, in my own small way, I have tried to give back to this country that has given me so much, she said. "See, that's why I left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service, "
Michelle Obama
No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn't perform any official duties. But this hasn't deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession. Just think - Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary.
How things have changed! If you're one of the tens of millions of Americans facing certain destitution, earning less than subsistence wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart or serving up McDonald
cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and then come to realize that the benefit package for these servants of Miz Michelle are the same as members of the national security and defense departments and the bill for these assorted lackeys is paid by John Q. Public:
1. $172,2000 - Sher, Susan (Chief Of Staff)
2. $140,000 - Frye, Jocelyn C. (Deputy Asst. to the President and Director of Policy And Projects For The First Lady)

Note who wrote the story; not the U.S. press, but the Canadian Free Press. Kudos to them!

Canadian Free Press is a neocon rag, so using that as a source already puts your credibility in the toilet.

Fail again, dummies.
It's funny that people would be mad at you rather than at, I don't know, your Right Wing Dad.
Anyway, I already tried to debunk this on BlogCatalog, where the person who started this thread used it as another example of the government getting gigantic (on the way to Communism, what else?). And of course, the fact that the writer calls for a crusade against Muslims is just too funny.

Typical b.s. ginned up by nasty wingtards hoping to smear the Obamas as being outrageous when they're not. I also "enjoyed" this quote:
"No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn't perform any official duties."
It's correct the Mrs. Obama is NOT paid, but it's quite false that she has "no official duties." This jerk implies that Mrs. Obama sits around eating bon-bons all day whilst having a giant staff "stepping & fetching" for her. Whether you love or hate the First Ladies, they are all very, very busy and are expected to do quite a lot during the term that their spouse is in office.
More contard hot air nonsense. If it's a slow news day, why not gin up a bunch of lies to inflame the militia-types even more???
Yes, working class Walmart stockers and McDs' workers, get angry over this waste of tax payer money.
*flies jet for 5 minutes at airshow*
OH BUT THIS IS SO PRETTY
Thanks to gruaud for wrapping this up in the first post. Considering Laura Bush was never seen without full and professionally done makeup and hair, she must have had a very talented single assistant.
Oh, and history-wise, Mary Todd Lincoln got in trouble for purchasing a LOT more than just china, and I doubt the fashion and social spectacle that was Jackie Kennedy operated with a staff of just one.
Well, let's not forget St. Nancita Reagan... firstly, she did get a lot of china, couture clothing, silverware & other stuff donated to her, but it was done illegally. Of course, contards were quite happy to have the St. Reagans do anything and everything illegally bc IAOKIYAR. I have no doubt that St. Nancita had a very large staff, indeed. But again, I'm sure that contards would wet their pants w/joy to know that Nancita's every whim & fancy was served in royal fashion.
St. Nancita (don't cry for me California) entertained in quite the style and has actually advised Michelle to give MORE, not less, state dinners. So, what's a girl like Michelle to do?
Listen to bigoted wingtards who will hate Michelle no matter what she does? Or listen to St. Nancita of the Shrine of Reagan? Hard to decide.
That's it! They'll love Michelle Obama if she blows Frank Sinatra!
