What is it? See below the photo....
This statue currently stands outside the Iraqi palace, now home to the 4th Infantry division. It will eventually be shipped home and put in the memorial museum in Fort Hood, TX
The statue was created by an Iraqi artist named Kalat , who for years was forced by Saddam Hussein to make the many hundreds of bronze busts of Saddam that dotted Baghdad
Kalat was so grateful for the Americans liberation of his country; he melted 3 of the heads of the fallen Saddam and made the statue as a memorial to the American soldiersand their fallen warriors . Kalat worked on this memorial night and day for several months.
To the left of the kneeling soldier is a small Iraqi girl giving the soldier comfort as he mourns the loss of his comrade in arms.
Do you know why we don't hear about this in the news?
Because it is heart warming and praise worthy. T he media avoids it because it does not have the shock effect .
But we can do something about it. We can pass this along to as many people as we can in honor of all our brave military who are making a difference.
And please pass this on!

Here in Reality*, Snopes explains that the US Military commissioned the artist to make the sculpture, and provided the melted Saddam heads, in addition to refuting other inaccurate details in the forward.
Pretty cool of them to use a local Iraqi artist.

*According to Stephen Colbert, Reailty has a well known liberal bias.
Why are they even still bothering with the "greeted as liberators" thing? We are leaving, the vast majority of Americans are glad we are leaving, the Iraqis "asked" us to go.
Certainly we should honor our soldiers, but is it really honoring them to pretend they were there under different circumstances than in reality?
isn't it nice the little girl is offering comfort to those that made baghdad a smoldering pile of rubble.
one day the united states might wake up and realize they created to worst hell pit on earth -- baghdad, iraq.
its also might be a good time to learn all about propaganda art -- the germans coined a phrase for it -- kitsch.
A-holes. You think you own patriotism because you bleat like sheep about it.
Wrong, as always.
Then the soldier got up, shot the little girl, firebombed her home which her family was occupying, and blamed it on liberals.
But it's not terrorism, 'cus he didn't shout Allahu Ackbar before he did it.
Yeah, hearing "heart warming" FABLES made up by wingtards makes my day...
Where were all the conservatards when dead US soldiers were shipped home in boxes bc of W's illegal war over nothing except to line Darth Chaney's pockets??
They griped and moaned about ANY mention of the fallen bc it gave "aid & comfort to the enemy."
But now they victimize themselves over some dumb statue that allegedly pays homage to fallen soldiers...
Please! And where were you when everyone found out about the horrific conditions at Walter Reid Hosp? You'd rather wring your hands and whine about a statute, that's where you are.
If it was commissioned to have an Iraqi artist do it: fine. I guess that's, uh, "nice."
But I mean, really: we're there bombing and killing folks to line the pockets of the wealthiest Americans, and I'm supposed to have my heart "warmed" over some fairy tale of a sculpture?
Yeah, you're right, wingtards, I don't really see anything much that's redeeming in your current fairy tale. Next topic, please!
