Fw: Letter from the BOSS

Thanks Don for this forward, another version of a hapless businessman's tale.

------begin forward-------

an actual letter from las vegas....

Letter from the Boss,

As the CFO of this business that employs 140 people, I have resigned
myself to the fact that Barack Obama is our new President and that our
taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.
To compensate for these increases, I figure that the clients will have to
see an increase in our fees of about 8% but since we cannot increase our
fees right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay
off eight of our employees instead. This has really been eating at me for
a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose
who will have to go.
So, this is what I did. I strolled thru our parking lot and found 8 Obama
bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will
be the first to be laid off. I can't think of a more fair way to approach
this problem. These folks wanted change; ...I gave it to them!
If you have a better idea, let me know.

Sincerely,
The Boss

Conservatives are so paternalistic... in the child oriented sort of way. When they feel job insecurity, it's not the economy or corporate greed at work, it's that rich entitled people aren't getting their due. It's like by forwarding this on they're saying, "please mister business man, I know you need you big house and your kids need a trust fund, but please don't kill my job."

They're projecting, of course, to the wrong place. Let's look at one possible tax increase:

First of all, if top level marginal rates go up two percent, then it is a minor hit to the PROFIT margin of business, not the cost of DOING business.

Even to cut 8 EXTREMELY low wage workers with total corporate expenditures of $25000/yr, that 200000 tax increase would be offset by $10,000,000 in profit:

25000 * 8 employees / 0.02 = 10000000

Sadly there are entitled business folk who truly think this way. I have worked in businesses where the management really talked this way about their staff, as if their staff were literally sucking their life blood out them.

I "get" that the business owner takes on a lot of risk (esp if it is a small to medium sized business) and has to go out and drum up the work. And yes, that is both nerve-wracking and commendable.

But in my personal experience, the biggest whiners are also the same ones who: 1) own multiple large expensive homes, 2) make a choice to send their kids to private schools from K thru college, 3) often their wives don't work (a huge luxury these days), 4) go on at least one very expensive vacation per year (as in flying to Europe first class & staying in high priced hotes), and 5) belong to the most expensive country club in town, plus other expensive private clubs, etc. and they & their wives dress only in super expensive clothes, etc.

I realize that belonging to some clubs can be viewed as part of the cost of doing business, but still.

The sense of entitlement is so vast and has grown dismally so totally out of proportion over the past 20 years or so that it's sickening & frightening all at the same time.

As usual, these yo-yos miss the point entirely that if they don't have a good (eg, at least decently paid) & adequate work-force, their idiotic business will probably go into the crapper... and along w/it their so richy-rich lifestyle.

Blaming Obama now is what these idiots are going to whine incessantly about for the next 16 years. Better to victimize themselves to the boogeyman of mis-named "socialism," rather than to self-examine their greedy, hogging lifestyles that are simply out of control and truly need to be reigned in.

The tax rates simply will not be that onerous (as discussed in the first post), and it's about time that these hogs contribute something that is still not remotely akin to their "fair share."

Tax rates are simply returning to what they were under St. Ronnie of the Ray-gun, and when blessed St. Ronnie raised the tax rates back in the way-back machine, guess what??? Our economy grew and we enjoyed a much better economic climate. Guess ole St. Ronnie musta been a real socialistic dude, too?

A better way: slaughter your wife and kids and put their remains up in your freezer. That'll be good eating for you.

Hahaha! A CEO who crassly breaks the law by demonstrating bias due to political leanings! Hahaha... now they're FREE from work! That's so funny!

Hey Anon, your heart's in the right place by explaining the logic of the logistics of the man's plan... but the authors of these emails and their believers are just not interested in logic. They're interested in spreading happy feeling through party orientated propaganda and having something their views (reguardless of how retarded) validated.

Trouble is: all these people read Ayn Rand as if it her novels were real-life biographies, rather than the very poorly written, tawdry, dull ridiculous tomes they are.

Me first, me only. I got mine, eff you.

Like several other recent forwards, this one's theme is that Obama voters should be punished for the economic downturn, as if it is all the fault of hated liberals.

Uh, got news for ya knuckleheads: you're the ones who've mostly been "in charge" over the past 20+ years or so. The downturn in the economy is due mainly to failed conservatard policies, endlessly giving more money to the obscenely wealthy while increasing taxes on the middle & lower classes, and an absence of regulations in the marketplace.

If you are going to childishly and unprofessionally choose to fire folks b/c of their bumperstickers, I suggest those who have PALIN (and just PALIN) on their bumpersticker.

Asshole is buying himself a big fat lawsuit if he lays off people based on political affiliations. It will dwarf any imagined lost profits as a result of Obama's tax hikes.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving person (if this letter is real, which I doubt)

Exactly what taxes have Obama raised? I guess the liberal media was just making it up when they claimed a major part of the "Repair the Bush Catastrophe" stimulus bill was tax cuts.
