Fw: Fwd: Suck It Up Seniors

Date: Wednesday, June 1, 2011, 9:49 AM

Each of these facts by itself may seem innocuous. But, when you put them all together, it demonstrates an abusive and arrogant pattern of conduct that is totally inappropriate.

May 30, 2011:  No one begrudges a president getting some down time from the "pressures" of his job.....But.....from the UK....

"The business of memorializing our war dead done, President Obama headed out to the Fort Belvoir golf course today, finding his way onto the links for the ninth weekend in a row.

Obama earlier today laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and met with families of those killed in battle. But he emerged from the day’s solemnity to go golfing for the 12th time this year and the 70th time of his presidency.

The decision to golf on Memorial Day invites comparison with President George W. Bush, who gave up the game early in his presidency and said he did it out of respect for the families of those killed in Iraq.

Does it matter if the president chooses to play golf on Memorial Day, and for the second time in his presidency (he did so as well in 2009)? I think it does, and it displays extraordinarily bad judgment, not only by Obama himself but also by his advisers. His chief of staff for example should have firmly cautioned against it. President Obama is not just any American but Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces. The United States is currently engaged in a major war in Afghanistan with over 100,000 troops on the ground, and more than 1,500 have already laid down their lives for their country.

The least the president can do on Memorial Day is spend the whole day with veterans and servicemen’s families while acknowledging their sacrifice. As Koffler points out above, President George W. Bush stopped playing golf out of respect for the families of Iraq War dead. This demonstrated not only good judgment but humility and respect for the men and women who keep America safe. It is little wonder that, as  Gallup reveals in a new poll, US military personnel and veterans give Barack Obama lower marks for his job performance than members of the general public.  The president’s actions smack of poor taste, as well a lack of empathy and support for the US military, hardly the kind of leadership the White House should be projecting at a time of war."

From the Los Angeles Times January 3, 2011 and follow up articles (I looked it up).

The Obama supporters will argue "he is just doing his job." What pray tell is that? Oh..forgot...running for office again....

If this does not disturb people; they are beyond redemption.  If the facts offend you, sorry! I find these facts appalling.

In 2010 Obama flew in Air Force One 172 times, almost every other day. Overall, up to December 2011, he flew Air Force One 328 times.

White House officials have been telling reporters in recent days that the Democrat doesn't intend to hang around the White House quite so much in 2011.  They explain he wants to get out more around the country because, as everyone knows, that midterm election shellacking on Nov. 2 had nothing to do with his health care bill, over-spending or other policies, and everything to do with Obama's not adequately explaining himself to his countrymen and  women.

And with only 673 days remaining in Obama's never ending presidential campaign, the incumbent's travel pace will not likely slacken.

At an Air Force-estimated cost of $181,757 per flight HOUR (not to mention the additional travel costs of Marine One, Secret Service, logistics and local police overtime), that's a lot of frequent flier dollars going into Obama's carbon footprint.

We are privy to some of these numbers thanks to CBS' Mark Knoller, a bearded national treasure trove of presidential stats.  According to Knoller's copious notes, during 2010 alone, Obama made 65 domestic trips over 104 days, and six trips to eight countries over 22 days.  Not counting six vacation trips over 32 days. Obama attended 20 basketball games in 2010.

In 2010, Obama took 196 helicopter trips (total 386 since he took office), signed 203 pieces of legislation and squeezed in 29 rounds of left-handed golf. In his first two years in office (up to December 2010) he played golf 57 times. Contrast that with the fact in two years, he has held only 12  cabinet meetings.
"
Obama last year gave 491 speeches, remarks or statements.  That's  more talking than goes on in some entire families, at least from fatherly mouths.

In fact, even including the 24 days of 2010 that we never saw Obama in public, his speaking works out to about one official utterance every 11 waking hours.  Aides indicate the "Real Good Talker" believes we need more.

According to Mark Knoller at CBS (Wow!),  between Jan 2009 and June 2010 (17 months) Obama made 13 foreign trips, taking all or part of 54 days. Knoller says Obama took more trips in the first year of his administration than any other president, visiting 22 nations, six of them twice. (His foreign travel is now 19 trips to more than 30 countries.)

Seven vacation trips (35 days) in 2010. Among the locations were Chicago (twice) and Asheville, N.C., for long weekends; Martha’s Vineyard and Hawaii, each for a week. Then, 15 visits to Camp David, the presidential retreat (32 days). Of course, the whole family and entourage goes on the public dime.

As of last week (May 2011), Obama has pardoned 17 felons since he took office. Six of the pardons involved drug related convictions.

May 31, 2011....."A new report from a watchdog group shows that the number of limousines owned by the federal government rose by 73 percent during the first two years of President Obama's administration. The State Department was the recipient of most the new luxury vehicles." (Go Hilary)

And we seniors have to "tighten our belts."

THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED PUT THIS FRAUD IN OFFICE (PARTICULARLY THE YOUNG ONES WHO APPARENTLY DID NOT KNOW ANY BETTER)!!

BE MORE CAREFUL NEXT TIME!!

Well, gee, when you put it that way, I'm glad Bush saved the country so much money by spending more time on vacation than any other President on record and 490 days "clearing brush" in Crawford.

Early in his Presidency? And I quote: "We're going to get those terrorists. Now watch this drive!"

I'm sure that was really comforting to the families of the 9/11 victims.

You know what would have been even better than W giving up golf for a few years as a symbolic gesture? Not starting the war in Iraq to begin with. Had he not done that I'd be happy if he hit the links 5 days a week.

As for the "Air Force One" complaints, they are mad because he flew 172 times in a year? Per TruthorFiction.com, this number is correct. Also per ToF, W averaged 209 Air Force One Trips per year ove his 8 year Presidency. So again, as always: IOKIYAR.

Obama last year gave 491 speeches, remarks or statements. .

So first they complain he works too little, now they complain he works too much?

That's more talking than goes on in some entire families, at least from fatherly mouths.

If my dad were the leader of the Free World I'd expect him to make a few more speeches than he does now.

Knoller says Obama took more trips in the first year of his administration than any other president, visiting 22 nations, six of them twice.

Indeed, why would our head of state and chief diplomat ever need to visit another country?

As of last week (May 2011), Obama has pardoned 17 felons since he took office. Six of the pardons involved drug related convictions.

Ford pardoned Nixon. W pardoned Scooter for treason. Presidents pardon people. What's your point?

Probably because the State Department took over official control of the occupation in Iraq, and purchased a large number of vehicles in order to function there. Thanks again for that one W!

Yes, the fraud who... visits other nations and makes speeches and plays golf on occasion. How Unpresidential...

Get Fucked.

Those young ones listened to a few old enough to remember the depression.

The racist, money-grubbing, jealous hearts of the right wing don't want our president using "their" gas in "their" limo! This really comes off as incredibly petty. This sort of complaint will only appeal to people with the same personality defects. Happily the defective ones are in the minority. So make a mountain out of a mole hill to hide your racism old geezers the "young ones" know EXACTLY what your real complaint is.

Thx 4 Fish said...

This is all racist!
More proof that Republicans in congress are not only refusing to allow President Obama to spend trillions more dollars because he is black, the same congressional Republicans are also causing the heat wave sweeping the country - and for the same reason.

These members of the Republican party in congress have gone too far this time! We've had enough of their racist ways, and I think all Republicans should be banned from congress so we can do whatever the president wants!

Anonymous said...

not very convincing thx 4 fish copy troll. you make a good point though, republican party is the party for racists

Anonymous said...

Not all republicans are racists but racists are more than likely to be republicans!

Anyone who is more socially conservative, openly patriotic, and middle-class is by default a racist. example: teabaggers are racist.

Republicans genuinely believe that a color-blind society lies down the road of individual choice and dynamic change, not down the road of state regulation and unequal treatment before the law.

Because republicans do not agree with state control and the reality that people are treated differently, they are again racist.

Only with socialism will we be equal before all. Only then will there be no more racism.

ferschitz said...

Again with the socialism? Let's ignore the inconvenient FACT that all people from the South are racist. And most just happen to be conservatives.
The elites want to scare you with socialism, but that may be the answer.

The conservative mind can not understand anything less. Another obvious example of rightwing thinktanks posting here.

Three strikes and you're out. Being "socially conservative" as defined doesn't necessarily make you racist. It may mean you are likely to be bigoted and mysogynistic, but those things know no color line. Plenty of middle class people are neither racist nor Republican.

As for "openly patriotic"? Get bent. I've seen your type of "Patriotism" and it sucks. There are plenty of patriots who love this country but wouldn't fit in with the typical "patriot" crowd on the right, since they don't blindly worship war and jingosism.

example: teabaggers are racist.

A good many of them, yes. Anyone who demanded (or still demands) to see "the birth certificate" is racist. Anyone who insists Obama is muslim (and further maintains that there would be some problem if he were) despite the fact that he's clearly not is racist. Anyone bitching about how ACORN stole the election or the CRA created the subprime crisis is racist. Anyone passing around pictures of Obama with a bone through his nose or of the "new" White House garden filled with watermelon is a racist. Facts is facts.

Republicans genuinely believe that a color-blind society lies down the road of individual choice and dynamic change, not down the road of state regulation and unequal treatment before the law.

Which is why they spent 40 years building a party on a foundation of seething white anger and fear of anyone not quite like them, advocated for "states rights" (hint hint) and "local control" (wink wink).

Very colorblind indeed. It was great when Reagan choose to announce his candidacy in 1980 with a pro-state's right speech in Philadelphia, Mississippi, the place were civil rights workers had been murdered a few years before. You would have to be the dumbest, deafest dog on the block to not here that whistle.

Because republicans do not agree with state control and the reality that people are treated differently, they are again racist.

Yup. Lets look at the Pigford settlement: black farmers were clearly and wrongly treated differently from white farmers by the government. They pressed their claim and earned a judgement to compensate them for this ill treatment. That payment has been held up by Republicans and has been repeatedly used by them as a racist dog whistle. If the shoe fits...

Only with socialism will we be equal before all. Only then will there be no more racism.

Well then lets get to it!

@Ferschitz you are right. Some might say that some in the South were Racist long ago.
They were all Democrats. But they changed to Republican. This is why Martin Luther King Jr. “was” a Republican.

Pay no attention to institutionalized racism like affirmative action, welfare, or Planned Parenthood and the plans of Margaret Sanger. These are Republican lies

True until the last part. King wasn't a member of either party, but he was most definitely a liberal with socialist ideals. His biggest political supporters ended up being Democrats, and as a result the Republicans were more than happy to absorb all the former racist white Democrats into their party.

Pay no attention to institutionalized racism like affirmative action, welfare, or Planned Parenthood and the plans of Margaret Sanger. These are Republican lies

Yup, pretty much. How is helping people who have been historically and systematicall held back "institutionalized racism"? Do you even know what the term means? Here's a hint: when banks redlined black communities and refused to give loans to qualified black applicants, that was institutionalized racism. When public schools, jobs and transportation were denied to non-whites, that's institutionalized racism.

Yes, Margaret Sanger was a believer in eugenics. This doesn't mean that the goal of Planned Parenthood is secret racial genecide, unless of course your mind is filled with backassward Republican "logic". Kinda like this:

Hitler was a vegetarian.
Hitler wanted genocide.
Ergo, all vegetable eaters are in favor of genecide.

Planned Parenthood provides much needed basic medical care to millions of low income americans. Calling that "racism" is just fucking stupid.

First it is “genocide” not “genecide”.
Margaret Sanger has her faults just like Ayn Rand (who libs criticize all the time).
Let bygones be bygones

Trolls sure are busy today.

And? What's your point?

Conservatives pull out Margaret Sanger as some kind of proof that Planned Parenthood is secretly interested in racial genocide, despite the fact that that's stupid and illogical.

Yes, we criticize Ayn Rand. She was a shitty writer who wrote shitty books about a shitty philosophy which has been adopted by a wing of the Republican party which is trying to put it into practice. This would be a shitty thing to have happen.

She was also a proudly amoral atheist who was staunchly anti-Christianity and pro-choice, but you never here Republicans talking about those particular views which she held.

If and when Planned Parenthood holds the same kind of fawning praise for Margaret Sanger's eugenics ideals as Republicans hold for Rand, I'll criticize them for that. Until then, the comparison doesn't work.

I like how conservatives trumpet what they think they are when it's the exact opposite. The "party of ideas", my ass.

Kinda like "fair and balanced" or "my loyalty is my honor".

How much you wanna bet that most "patriotic" wing-nuts couldn't even tell us anything about Memorial Day (when it originated, what it was formerly called, when it became an official holiday), or about the proper US flag protocol for the day, without first looking it up on Wikipedea?

This has what to do with anything? Is this supposed to be some kind of swipe or insult? Calling out wingnuts for their ignorance is the same thing as declaring yourself to be Stalin's Bff?

Try harder troll. Or better yet, don't, because you are embarrassing yourself.

You need sensitivity training comrade. Diverse people must accept one another. They taught this to you in camp.

Your continued statements here show a desired progressively heightened sense of shame, guilt, and self-loathing, but not at the level the party desires.

You shall report to your nearest re-education camp under penalty of having the crap beat out of you by a bunch of angry peasants with shovels.

Aawww, lookit that. I was off on vacation, but my rightwing "ferschitz" troll did a post on my behalf.

Of course, it is bogus, but thanks scaredy-cat bogus troll for showing up and posting *in my name* while I was taking a little R&R.

I, personally, don't believe that everyone in the south is a racist, but perhaps fake-ferschitz does, since that's what s/he posted?

However, the comment that this junk is perhaps written by a rightwing think tank could be true. So I guess my immitator is picking up on some real facts for a change.
