Fw: Catholics vs. Muslims

Subject: Fw: Catholics vs. Muslims

This is interesting!

Charity Hospital run by the Sisters  of Charity in New Orleans, along with
the Upjohn company developed the plasma system in the 1930’s that saved so
many lives in WWII, KoreaVietnam and in  the middle east now.

During the Civil War most of the nurses were nuns.

EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT CATHOLIC, THIS IS EYE OPENING.

When the Catholic Church was founded, there were no hospitals. Today,
one out of five people in this country receive their medical care at a
Catholic hospital.

When the Catholic Church was founded, there were no schools. Today, the
Catholic Church teaches 3 million students  a day, in its more than 250
Catholic Colleges and Universities, in its  more than 1200 Catholic High
Schools and its  more than 5000 Catholic grade schools.

Every day, the Catholic Church feeds, clothes, shelters and educates more
people than any other organization in the  world.

The new Obama Health Mandate could  end all this and the tax payers would
have to make up the loss.

Also, all Catholic adoption services would come to an end; a human
disaster.

There are more than 77 million Catholics in this country. It takes an
estimated 50 million Catholic votes to  elect a president.

I am asking all of you to go to the polls in 2014 and be united in
replacing all Senators and Reps with someone  who will respect the Catholic
Church, all Christians, and all Religions with  perhaps the exception of
Islam.

Mr. President, you said, "The USA is not a Christian Nation". You are
wrong - we are a Christian Nation founded on Judeo-Christian values
allowing all religions in America to Worship & Practice Freely. Something
Islam will never do.

Oh, by the way, on MUSLIM HERITAGE IN  America .....

Have you ever been to a Muslim hospital,

Heard a Muslim orchestra, seen a Muslim band march in a parade, know of a
Muslim charity,

Ever seen Muslims shaking hands with a Muslim Girl Scout, or ever seen a
Muslim Candy Striper volunteering in a hospital?

Have you ever seen a Muslim do much of anything that contributes
positively to the American way of life?

DON'T KEEP THIS - please SEND IT OUT  TO YOUR LIST!

Let’s circulate this to as many as possible. And remember the elections
coming up in 2014 and 2016!

Probably not true, but in the year 33 AD health care (and everything else) was a tiny bit different than it is today. There were no cars either, The Catholic church doesn't get credit for inventing those.

When the Catholic Church was founded, there were no schools.

Simply untrue. Again, we're talking about Ancient Rome, things were slightly different.

The new Obama Health Mandate could end all this and the tax payers would
have to make up the loss.

How. Explain how that could happen? How is providing basic health insurance to employees, subsidized by the government, a threat to any of these operations, most of which already do exactly that with no issues? I'm dying to know.

Also, all Catholic adoption services would come to an end

Again I ask: how?

respect the Catholic
Church, all Christians, and all Religions with perhaps the exception of
Islam.

How amazingly bigoted of you.

we are a Christian Nation founded on Judeo-Christian values

Funny, when we were founded and for much of our history, Catholics were despised by the "right" types of Christians. They were seen as lower class foreign invaders who were loyal to the Pope and not America. They were scum who didn't "contribute positively to the American way of life".

Irony, thy name is chain email.

"Mr. President, you said, 'The USA is not a Christian Nation'."

No, but John Adams said that. In the Treaty of Tripoli:

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen [Muslims],"

The 'perhaps' was an especially generous touch.

There. I removed the Muslim-provided details.

1. When JFK ran for Pres back in the early '60s, there was a huge push-back based mainly on the fact that he was RC. As another commenter said, the RC's in this country were not viewed as Christians by most Protestants until recently, and the fear mongering was that they were loyal to the Pope, not the USA. Things change, however, and the same will happen over time for Muslims in America, no matter how much the bigoted dullards push back at this time due to the propaganda they listen to daily.

2. I don't believe there is a Muslim Hosp in the USA, but so what? There are Muslims throughout the medical & dental professions serving everyone, even bigoted assholes.

3. Muslim band? Muslim orchestra? WTF? I suppose one could see RC school/univ bands and orchestras as "Catholic" bands & orchestras. Perhaps the same could be said for other schools/univ that are Baptist or 7th Day Adventist or whatever. But really? Do we CALL them "Catholic" bands/orchestras? How stupid is that?? There are Muslim musicians in bands and orchestras. The Pittsburgh Symphony (as one example) is hardly considered a "Christian" symphony.

4. Muslim Girl scout? I don't know. Highly likely, esp as the Girl Scouts encourage diversity. Have any of these bigots tried to find out or do they just like to parade their bigoted ignorance (rhetorical Q).

5. Muslim charities? R U kidding me? There are many, and most serve anyone, no matter of what religious (or no) affiliation. The Red Crescent springs to mind for starters.

I'll stop there. Just a bunch of bigoted clap-trap. This junk, in various formats, has been circulating amongst the brain-dead (aka bigoted tea tardz) since Sept 2001. I've found articles written by Muslims clearly refuting the idiocies in a sincere attempt to be educational about the Muslim faith & people, but sadly such articles are then followed by vicious bigoted attacks by rightwing commenters who just spew vile hatred & make nasty comments based on nothing factual.

It's all very sad. Attempting to wrap this nasty hateful screed in some sort of banner of religiosity just makes it even worse... and highlights why so many of these "christiany" types are big huge turn-offs for getting involved in their nasty hate-spewing bigoted homophobic sexist "churches."

Bah humbug.

I gave birth to my daughter at a Catholic hospital. It was the only one for 50 miles around. But if I had had complications with the pregnancy, a Catholic hospital would have been the last place I would go. Catholic hospitals won't tell women all of their options in cases of a problem pregnancy. Instead Catholic hospitals force women patients to adhere to Catholic beliefs when they seek help for pregnancy problems. Catholic hospitals are not capable of giving the best, modern care to some of their female patients. 'Perhaps' it is a good time for the Roman Catholic church to get out of the hospital business, and leave the healthcare to those able to help every patient that comes to their door.

Rightwingers need to watch movies like Magdalene Sisters or Philomena to see how "great" the RC Nuns can be sometimes.

On second thought: don't go see those movies, rightwingers. They'd probably just be seen as a "great idea" by your kind, aka, she had it coming!

I'm not all that keen on religious institutions owning & running hospitals. As Thx 4 Fish indicates, it sets up a situation where a patient may not get the care needed due to religious restrictions which may have nothing to do with your own beliefs or true medical & health needs.

Why, it's easy! The Church will simply move to a different country with a lighter regulatory burden. The free market rules all, right?
