Interesting..These 11 States now have More People on Welfare than they do Employed. Last month, the Senate Budget Committee reports that in fiscal year 2011, between food stamps, housing support, child care, Medicaid and other benefits, the average U.S. household below the poverty line received $168.00 a day in government support. What’s the problem with that much support? Well, the median household income in America is just over $50,000, which averages out to $137.13 a day. To put it another way, being on welfare now pays the equivalent of $30.00 an hour for a 40-hour week, while the average job pays $25.00 an hour.

Amazing how much they can lie. Or maybe George Costanza was right: "Its not a lie if you believe it".

Yeah, that's a very "interesting statistic," which just happens to be completely false, including that map.

No wonder these azzholes are so effed up.

Dear First Anon -

You are being too kind referencing George Costanza. I'd go more for Goebbels, myself:

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

my bold.

Just in case someone is more convinced by pretty pictures than reasonable doubt:

PolitiFact gave this a "Pants on Fire" rating.

And here's Snopes.

"Median household income" is not "what the average job pays." They really must think we're morons.

No, the PTB/rightwing think tanks/propoganda media/etc simply KNOW that rightwingers have been manipulated and bamboozled so long by racism, lies and outright horse shit shoveled by Fox & Rush, that they'll "believe" anything that rightwing "sources" - including RWFs - shove at them.

Are citizens "morons" for believing this crap? Perhaps not morons, but they're certainly lazy, ignorant and stupid for not digging a little deeper to learn the facts.

This is utterly absurd, but I'm very sure that many rightwingers want to believe it because that's they're entire frame of reference anymore. Too bad.

Media and Cable TV is America's "Death Nail" when you have 35% of the populous believing this trite, or wishing to believe this crap as fact - its Jonestown. Educated people buy this for the single reason - they want to. The idea that a black man sleeps in W's bed is too much for them to contemplate.
