Fw: At A Loss - Are You?

Subject: Fw: At A Loss - Are You?

When a soldier is killed in the line of duty, his family eventually gets a flag and a note conveying sympathy and respect  from the United States Government.

When a Black pro basketball player announces he is gay, he immediately gets a personal phone call from the President congratulating him for his courage.

Am I missing something?

I don't know how these people manage to get through their days while hauling around their enormous persecution complexes.

Also, FUCK YOU WINGNUTS for stealing from Charles Schultz and putting stupid words in the mouths of classic characters who aren't yours. Fucking thieves.

Are you "Missing Something"

Yes a Brain

Is it even *legal* to STEAL a copyrighted cartoon like that? Geez.

Am I missing something?

Yes: a) ability to think for yourself, b) tolerance, c) simply human decency, d) willingness to not be a racist, sexist, homophobic, bitterly bigoted asshole...

just for starters. There's more but don't have enough time list *everything* you rightwing jerks are "missing."

I think the person who steals the work of a talented cartoonist in order to make a political point because he lacks any kind of talent needs to revisit the dictionary and acquaint himself with the actual definition of "parasite."

At least Diaz isn't butchering Calvin and Hobbes, that little no-talent fuck.

Leaving aside the predictable nasty racism, homophobia & ad hominem attack on Obama, the analogy is ridiculous... but what a surprise.

Without going too far down the road, WTF do these bigots expect? That the Pres will personally telephone or visit every family of fallen military? GW Bush didn't do it; no Pres has.

NBA star, Jason Collins, is the first in any of the four major USA prof sports to admit to being gay. This is huge news, and his race has nothing to do with it. Sports is big business & Collins put himself on the line - possibly costing himself his job - by his courageous admission. Pres Obama likely would've called anyone who made that first admission, no matter what race.

And finally, it's the Red States who pay far less in fed. taxes than Blue States. Yet it's the Red States who get back far more in taxes than the Blue States.

So the unfair & possibly illegal use of the Peanuts cartoon is actually dissing rightwingers, themselves, for having their hands out and TAKING something for nothing!

TMI, rightwingers? Too real for you?

As for plagiarism....

There was a ruling for the site "Dysfunctional Family Circus" (the archive is awesome) where a judge said that the copyright is for the image *and* the text *combined*. Using the characters for profit, I think falls under patent. Otherwise, as long as it is *not* for profit, the text can be completely removed and new text added. The site "Garfield Without Garfield" is another example of this.

P.S.: If you watch "The DMZ" with Bill Scher and Matt Lewis, Mr. Lewis is yet another conservative that is shocked and appalled to discover there is racism in movement conservatism.

Officially, racism has to be a small minority fringe. The Southern Strategy was the creation of those jack-booted hippies.

Garfield Minus Garfield exists because Jim Davis allows it. Copyright is complicated and thorny, but courts look at the extent to which your changes transform the original work into something new. It's unlikely this cheap Photoshop would qualify as "educational."

Also, patents are for inventions, ideas, and in art, specific design styles. They don't apply here.
