I bet they said the same thing about King Cotton, because slavery is in the Bible too.

Hey! If conservatives want to poison themselves eating crappy shitty chemical/sugar/fat-laden "food" at Chick-Fil-A: have at it. I wouldn't eat there anyway, and now I have another reason to stay very far away.

The Cathy family is just pandering to a bunch of brainwashed rubes, just like Snowbilly Snooki & her ilk do. Why not? Brings in a lot of sweet sweet ca$hola for the Cathy family, who probably could give a shit what it says in the bible or elsewhere.

That sound you're hearing is the CHA-CHING of the ca$h register. That's what the Cathy family "believes in."

It may not be "politically correct" to use a terribly-compressed JPEG to do a GIF's job, but the word of God commands it!

If patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel then surely religion is the last refuge of a bigot.

The Cathy family keeps ALL (over 1,600 locations) closed on Sundays so their employees can attend church! Even during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta where they are based out of...they stayed closed on the two Sundays during the games. They could have easily cashed in...but they didn't....that speaks volumes to me. They are an old traditional Southern conservative Bible thumping family and they are very principled and old-fashioned....big deal. Let them run their business however the hell they want to...you liberal weenies got your knickers in a knot over this? What a bunch of drama queens y'all are!

Winky is back! ;-)

Thanks for coming out, I like to see my enemies square in the eye. At least Chick-Fil-A isn't a sneak about it, unlike many conservatives, with their nudge-nudge, wink-wink, dog-whistle bullshit.

Anonymous said...

LOL @ your immature mindset. "Anybody who holds different opinions than I is my ENEMY"! Now, throw in a little foul language, and my opinions win out ....all the "damn" time! Conservatives = Weak....gruaud = Strong, all-knowing macho man! wooo-hooo ;-)

What about their Jewish or Muslim employees?

They could have easily cashed in...but they didn't....that speaks volumes to me.

So... they're bad business people who Ayn Rand would have scoffed at.

They are an old traditional Southern conservative Bible thumping family and they are very principled and old-fashioned

Nothing like celebrating the traditions of slavery, segregation, and bigotry in all its forms. Lovely.

Let them run their business however the hell they want to..

They are perfectly welcome to run their business however they see fit. Just as I'm perfectly welcome to give them the finger and refuse to patronize said business. The free market works both ways.

Also, you want them to be left alone? Why won't they allow others to be left alone to love and live in the way they want? Isn't that the golden rule that Jesus valued above all others?

What a bunch of drama queens y'all are!

I mean, come on! Its only bigotry! Its not like its a Teletubby with a purse, that's really worth getting angry about!

"Anybody who holds different opinions than I is my ENEMY"!

In the realm of discourse, yes.

Both anons answered perfectly. Thanks.

Winky, you're still a weak little troll who is ALWAYS welcome here because we enjoy kicking the shit out of you. You try to defend bigotry and racism and you, at best, look like a fool, at worst, you look like, well, look in a mirror. It ain't pretty.

You're damned right Chick-Fil-A is my enemy. And if my naughty language makes you shudder in fake horror, then good, dumbshit.

I'm here to comment on routinely nasty RW forwards.

You're here to defend them.

You'll lose every time.

The Cathy family keeps their chemical/sugar/fat-laden "restaurants" closed on Sunday, and THAT just "proves" how they're not in it for the money. How they're just such a "fine Southern family."

Bogus.

So they keep their shitty non-nutritious fast food places closed on Sunday? Big deal? It's just another PR tool, which conservatives - as clearly demonstrated here - are willing to buy into as some kind of "proof" of how money isn't the driving factor here. Duly noted that our conservative troll even KNOWS that this crap-joint was closed during the Atlanta Olympics on Sundays. Like they didn't "clean up" enough during the rest of the week. Guess the troll is confusing the Cathy's with that Chariotts of Fire dude.

Spare me. If the Cathy's were such good Jesus-loving folks, then they'd STFU, at least, about gays and gay marriage. Jesus preached love and toleration. Note: Jesus did drive the money-changers out of the temple on a Sunday, but Jesus didn't say it made you a better "Christian-y" to keep your stupid shitty food joint closed on Sunday.

WWJD? Most likely avoid Chick-fil-A like the rest of tolerant, health-conscious people do.

Think the Cathy's aren't all and only about making money?? Wake up, fool. that's the ONLY thing driving the Cathy family, Duly noted that their bigotry & homophobic propoganda worked on you.

CHA-CHING!!!!!

I haz confused. I thought all good Christian rightwingers followed the Gospel according to Ayn Rand, who said only the strong survive by ripping off everyone else all the time. Yet the Cathy family close their junk food places on Sunday? Ayn haz a sad and maybe has turned her back on the Cathy's.

The heresy... the heresy...

The gays and liberals have got to be some of the thinnest skinned, hateful and intolerant people out there.
So what of Dan Cathy's statement and Chick-fil-a's stance on traditional marriage, morality and true Christian character? Their "closed Sunday" stance is unusual in the restaurant business but it's testament to Cathy's faith.
Customers are drawn just as much to the values and morality as the chicken sandwich. I enjoy being able to eat out with my children in a decent atmosphere.

Last Anon -- I guess your local Wendy's has some sort of satanic atmosphere? Your MacDonald's is some sort of hippy haven?

Which is why they are the ones who want to deny consenting adults the right to marry who they wish?

Customers are drawn just as much to the values and morality as the chicken sandwich.

Which is one of the more pathetic things I've ever heard.

ferschitz said...

More projection from conservatives. So-called "liberals" (whatever that label means anymore) and gays are "thin skinned."

Yeah: it's just so "thin skinned" to be offended by people who not only diss you, but who also actively seek the means to keep you from enjoying your Civil Rights.

Yep: real thin-skinned, that is.

If you need to eat in a Christian-y "restaurant" to feel "good" or whatever: so be it. Go for it, but STFU about other people who may or may not hold the same belief system as you do.

Because eating in one of those Satan-worshipping restaurants is just plain sinful, and you & the kiddies might just be exposed to someone who isn't EXACTLY (as WHITE) like you.

Whereohwhere does one get a list of "approved" non-Satan-worshipping food emporiums, as it appears that CrapDonalds & TataBell fall under the scourge of Satan, along with Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Mexican & other restaurants like typical all-American favorites diners, smorgasboards, Denny's & IHOP??

What's a red-blooded (and WHITE) USA family to do in order to get vittles? Where's the LIST, Mabel?

WOW! A president of a company tells us their moral convictions (Free speech) in response to a city hall declining their building permit, which by the way is a loss of jobs and you liberal lefties lambaste them. Maybe your Bible quote of John 8:7 and Matthew 7:3 in another blog is appropiate now..
Matt 7:3 And why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the beam of wood in your own eye?
I guess this only applies to others because you seem to think it only to Christians.

John 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
Jesus told her after all her accusers were gone that He forgave her and that she should not sin anymore.
Also,
Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,
Rom 3:24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus;
Rom 3:25 whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness through the passing by of the sins that had taken place before, in the forbearance of God;
Rom 3:26 for the display of His righteousness at this time, for Him to be just and, forgiving the one being of the faith of Jesus.
Rom 3:27 Then where is the boasting? It is excluded. Through what law? Of works? No, but through the law of faith.
Rom 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the works of the Law.
Rom 3:29 Or is He the God of the Jews only, and not also of the nations? Yes, of the nations also,
Rom 3:30 since it is one God who will justify circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
Rom 3:31 Do we then make the Law void through faith? Let it not be! But we establish the Law.

Cherry picking again, as usual.

The ACLU immediately came out fighting on behalf of Chick-Fil-A and many liberals have defended Chick-Fil-A's right to free speech. Did you know that? Of course you didn't or you would have mentioned it in your comment. And if you DID know, then you're being intellectually dishonest.

Go ahead and say whatever you want, it's a free country. But there may be unintended consequences. That's the market talking. The same applies to these RW forwards. No one is saying you can't write and send these. But we are going to call you on it every time.

To Bible Quote Anon:

Thanks for the verses (truly), but I was not putting up those other Bible verses in response to the Cathy family. Rather they were in response to some self-professed "Christians" who posted here basically telling gruaud to go to hell.

As for the Cathy family: they have every right to do what they're doing. No one here has said otherwise. It's just that they've chosen to trample on certain citizens' Civil Rights in so doing, which again is up to the Cathy family. But then when liberals point this out, suddenly were called all sorts of names and told to go to hell by "Christian" conservatives.

Frankly, most of the "Christians" who've posted here in this fashion have amply demonstrated their "morals, values & beliefs" at least to me. If that's how you behave and treat others, then best of luck to you, but don't expect me to *agree* with you.

Again, I point to the Bible verses I originally quoted. You might want to consider them again in light of that.

Just saying...

So much fail in this sentence.

The Cathy family gives money to hate groups. This is why they should be boycotted. They have every right to do and think and act and speak and give money to whom they please, but don't expect the rest of us to support their hate.

And no, building a Chik-fil-a doesn't create one damn job, because it does nothing to increase the economic activity in a community. Instead of eating at some other restaurant, people eat at CFA.

Economic activity of this kind is pretty much a zero sum game, and the only thing adding a CFA does is potentially move money from one group of people to the Cathy family. If there's really enough demand in an area then KFC or Mcdonalds or some mom and pop restaurant will pick up the slack.

Brian Boru said...

The Cathy family does not support or donate to the homosexual cause, however, Dan Cathy stated that "Chick-fil-a culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect -- regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender." Does that mean they have to support something that is unbiblical? I think not.

So, what's wrong if Chick-fil-a decides not to support or donate to the gay community? I stand with the Cathy family in that we live in a country where we can share our values (or lack of values) and operate by our biblical principles (or lack thereof).

My family will continue to support Chick-fil-a wholeheartedly as they continue to defend the sanctity of marriage and Christian values.

However, I will not support any business that defends an immoral or perverse lifestyle which attempts to destroy what God has blessed. Romans 1

"Chick-fil-a culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect -- regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender."

Which is why they give money to anti gay organizations? That's how you support dignity and respect?

Let me say this again, so its perfectly clear: Chick-fil-a gives money to hate groups. They give a portion of their profits to groups whose sole mission is to make life miserable for other people. When you patronize Chick-fil-a, you are a helping this to happen, and some of your money is going to these groups.

I can't claim to be a theologian, but I'm pretty sure Jesus didn't advocate hate, or hurting other people, or being proud of the fact that you hate and hurt other people.

ferschitz said...

Everyone is entitled to patronize whatever establishments they feel like. I know *many* people who tend to vote "Democratic" (whatever that means anymore) who profess to enjoy Chick-fil-A, but they are now refusing to go there because the Cathy family donates large sums to homophobic hate groups.

It's documented. Christians who wish to turn a blind eye to what causes their money is going to are entitled to do just that.

But playing the typical rightwing martyr game - because Rush & so-called "Fox & Friends" told you to do so - is *conciously deciding* to be either ignorant about what's going or *conciously deciding* to ignore what's going on. You pay, you play.

The Cathy family donates huge amounts of money to homophobic hate groups. Then they cloak themselves in the Bible to entice Christians to *believe* that somehow their food emporiums are "holy ground" or some other nonsense.

Eat wherever you like, but at least *attempt* to have some personal honesty about what's going on here.

Don't like the FACTS? Don't like REALITY? Color me unsurpised. Per usual, conservatives don't wish to confront the REALITY because it does have what they would call a 'liberal bias.' Too bad, so sad, get used to it.

And don't expect what you deem to call "liberals" to just STFU about stuff like this. IF our pointing out REALITY makes you conservatives *uncomfortable,* then maybe you ought to give that some thought. Just saying...

WWJD? I think Jesus would not choose to enter Chick-fil-A and would choose another place to dine.

PS Thanks to Mr. Boru, who has shown up and *engage* in a discussion about this topic. I mean it. I appreciate your willingness to discuss this in a very reasoned fashion. As stated, you are definitely entitled to what you believe and do. I am also entitled to disagree with you.

The Cathy family has donated millions of dollars to local communities through its WinShape foundation to organisations which supports the strengthening of traditional family values based on biblical principles such as Exodus International, Family Research Council, Marriage and Family Foundation, The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Nation Christian Foundation, etc. Foster care, scholarships, family and marriage enrichment classes are provided through its community service programs.

Nothing could be further from the truth to label these these Christian organisations as "homophobic hate groups" because they choose to take a stand and defend heterosexual marriage as instituted by God Himself.

The Cathy family does not "cloak themselves in the bible" as you say. However, this is a result of a Christian based family business living out what they believe in the midst of assault and ridicule.

Does anyone see interracial couples boycotting Wendy's due to its opinion that miscegenation is an abominable offence in the will of God? Or Jews boycotting Jack in the Box due to its denial of the holocaust? But Lord forbid that a business should take a biblical stance on a moral issue such as homosexuality because, according to homosexuals, that infringes on their rights and is discriminatory. Really?

What about the homosexual agenda and curriculum that is being forced on our children that are in public schools? Homosexuals realise that the greatest asset they have in changing America lies in the indoctrination of our children. These gay activists are out to capture the hearts and minds of our children.

So, who is the one that's intolerant here?

MY PEOPLE ARE DESTROYED FOR A LACK OF KNOWLEDGE.

*FACEPALM*

Source of those "stories" about Wendy's and Jack in the Box?

http://www.theonion.com/articles/wendys-wants-consumers-to-know-its-fine-with-gays,28985/

IT'S FROM THE FUCKING ONION! Made up. Satire. Not true.

Many people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Indeed.

Speaking of hate groups, the FRC is classified as one by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

So, who is the one that's intolerant here?

The one's who insists on spreading hate?

ferschitz said...

Source of that, please? What "homosexual agenda" is being "forced" on kids in public schools? Did you read that in the Onion as well?

Again I give some props to Mr. Boru who has been more reasonable in his discussions and how he explains his position, rather than just engaging in name-calling. Thanks for that.

But Mr. Boru, you are sadly misled, and you are not clear on factual reality. I respectfully suggest you read a bit further than your Church bulletin, and check out a few more news sources other than Rush Limbaugh and Fox.

Many of the organizations that the Cathy's donate to have been designated as Hate groups. If you don't wish to understand that FACT, that's fine, but that's the reality of the situation.

You seem to at least be willing to debate the topic in a rational fashion. Try reading a bit more broadly, and you might learn something. Enjoy your faith, but check out other sources.
