The Chinese build everything else you buy, what's wrong with them building roads and bridges?
I also love how this is somehow Obama's fault, that individual cities make what they consider the most cost effective decisions to complete their individual infrastructure projects. Isn't that a good thing, Republicans? Don't we want government to be "run like a business" and to restore local control in politics? Because it sure looks like that's what happened here.
And since when do you care about union jobs? I thought unions were the devils work, and that they only ever get in the way of real progress and cost too damn much? Well I guess you got your wish here, since the American union workers were passed over for their cheaper, less fussy chinese equivalents.
This is also a perfect example of media failure. This is, potentially, a very interesting story. It has major political and economic issues and implications, which should be carefully explored, explained and debated.
So what does ABC news do? A less than 3 minute segment filled with vague statements, short interview clips, and an almost no facts or context. Just enough to confuse and boil the blood of low info news watchers, who will then be subject to 3+ minutes of commercials for crap that was probably made in China.
You wanted cheap?
You got cheap.

This idiotic post just PROVES beyond a shadow of a doubt that rightwing think tanks can toss just about anything if it's written in some way to gin up ersatz "outrage" over the "N" word in the White House.
Actually, there've been a number of news pieces written about Chinese labor being used to build USA infrastructure, but it's usually "deep-sixed" in the back pages of the nooz papers.
There IS a real story here, but this idiocy doesn't begin to touch it.
But as with the initial commenters here: whyohwhy are conservatards "upset" by this? I thought all USA unionists were, by definition, teh worstest of eeeevuls, and that USA citizens, you know, didn't actually really deserve jobs, at least jobs that paid minimum wages.
If local governments hired less than min wage workers, one would think that conservatards would be clapping, cheering and shouting hooray to the rafters.
Methinks that if McCain was the President right now, a rightwing forward like this would be written in a different maner praising McCain to the high heavens for how fabulous it was to have cheap Chinese labor building our roads and bridges.
Typically stupid & hypocritical but yet another shiney shiney *distraction* for the rubes.
