Fw: Sad isn't it?

SO 'Pathetically'  TRUE..................

OH USA    YA RIGHT!!

We're "broke" & can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.,?????????

In the last month we have provided aid to   Haiti  ,  Chile  , and   Turkey  .

Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income'receive no aid or get   any breaks while our
government and   religious organizations pour
Hundreds of Millions of $$$$$'s and Tons of Food to Foreign Countries!

We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.

USA a country where we have homeless without shelter,  children going to bed hungry,
elderly going without 'needed' meds, and mentally ill without treatment -etc,etc.

YET...................
They have a 'Benefit' for the people of  Haiti   on 12   TV   stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents clothes, bedding,    doctors and medical supplies.

Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT*  gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries.

Sad isn't it?

99% of people won't have the guts to forward   this.
 I Just Did!

Fight organized crime!  Re-elect no one who voted for these things!

You mean besides Social Security and Medicare?

I forgot to comment on this:

We don't fail to help because we're broke; we fail to help because the Republican Party doesn't believe in helping members of those demographic groups as a fundamental part of their platform.

"We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans."

There are several reasons for that, among them:
- Most adoptive parents want INFANTS; most of the "adoptable children" in the US are older. And many have problems - medical, emotional, or social - that many adoptive parents simply don't want to deal with. Welcome to Unfortunate Reality 101.
- Many of the adoptable children in the US are black. Many of the adoptive parents are not, and...well, welcome to American Racial Issues 101.
- And finally: what the hell does the government have to do with individual adoptive parents' choices anyway?

"USA a country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, elderly going without 'needed' meds, and mentally ill without treatment -etc,etc. "

Gee, I thought the "free market" was supposed to take care of that - or at least "private charity"? Are you saying you want to GOVERNMENT to take care of these people? With what? TAX MONEY? Thought you didn't like government programs, much less taxes? Which is it, then?

"They have a 'Benefit' for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies."

Who exactly are "they"? You do understand the difference between private charity efforts and the government, and between US actions and international actions - right? Or is that sort of complex reality too hard on your brain to grasp?

"Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries."

You mean, if our domestic budget (counting the military, that is) were in the high 90-something percentage range, and our foreign aid budget were in the low single-digit range? You know - the way it IS?

If rightwingers ever come around to realizing that the cost of unnecessary wars of aggression are what's depleting the US budget, then I'll eat my hat.

Conservatives are the ones who want only to increase the military budget - go read any conservative blog, if you don't believe me - and yet, somehow there's supposed to be enough left over for domestic programs, too. It doesn't work that way when money is a finite resource, esp because we have to keep lowering taxes because somehow we'll all better off for it, esp billionaires (who laugh at these idiots for how dumb they are).

And yeah: I thought ReTHUGlicans hated ANY kind of "welfare" progam & despised ANY kind of aid to anyone. It was Sainted Zombie Reagan who close most of the mental illness institutions and made deep cuts in assistance to those with mental illness. What? Are conservatards going against the wisdom of their Sainted Leader Ray-gunz? What???

What a loaf of nonsense coming from this crowd who constantly rants against any kind of social assistance as dreaded sinful "welfare" that only disgusting sinners take.

And yeah: how does adoption get into this rant? The gov't doesn't *force* white people to adopt from overseas; it's the choice they make... which I thought this crowd was all about their freedumbs (except when it comes to the bedroom, of course).

People going without meds in the richest country in the world is a matter of social priorities, about 25% of the world lives without running water or electricity. You really can't compare the two. Maybe. If we bought fewer tanks and guns we could buy all those meds AND help eveeryone else get fresh water too.

It's hilarious that we get this e-mail now, a week after it was reported that we have provided almost none of the $1.15 billion of aid we promused to Haiti.

And we haven't because a single Republican senator objected to us spending $5 million on a new administrative office for it all.

Social Insecurity is just a Ponzi scheme in disguise. Tell you what...stop charging me for SI right now and they can keep all the money I've paid in. When I retire I will have more money saved up than what anyone my age will receive in SI. Oh wait...some stupid liberal government will probably take that away too. Moral of the story is JUST KEEP THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF MY WALLET.

By the way, my personal favorite Haitian charity is "Meds and Food for Kids"

Meds and Food for Kids

They are having a donation drive this month, and even small donations will help.

As long as we're off topic. As one who has adopted older kids internationally I will tell you that the American foster care system, which moves kids in and out of homes dozens of times in their young lives is designed to make life easier for social services workers and is almost guaranteed to destroy the children by taking away any sense of stability in their lives. It is a rare and lucky foster care kid who only has one or two homes over several years' time. Sadly I'd take a kid from an orphanage over American foster care any day.

To Anon who doesn't like or want Soc Sec: that's nice to say that. However, I hope you realize that if the gov't stops soc sec, they will continue to remove that money from your paycheck. Instead of parking it in T-bills in a program that runs very well, is very low-cost and simple to run, and is, in fact, NOT a Ponzi scheme (I can understand why you feel that way, but in this case, it's not), the govt will remove the same amount of money from your paycheck.

It will be "invested" in Wall STreet, which IS a Ponzi scheme. But no matter how well the market does, you will get a lower return on your investment because it's estimated that the Admin fees to run this particular Ponzi scheme will be something like 12 times as high as the admin costs of running Soc Sec. And that's where the Wall Streeters, Banksters and other scheming Oligarchs stand to make a lot of money off of you, me and all other hard-working citizens.

Be careful what you wish for because you might get it. And believe me, YOU will NOT be permitted to do your own investing. YOUR money will be given away to the billionaires.
