Fw: The Recession Map

THanks to JLB [ Thanks to AH]
Take a look at this map.  It shows how the unemployment rate has changed over the past few years.  When you get to the map, click the arrow in the middle and watch how things changed.
Incredible what "The Recession" has done.
The old saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words" is never more true than looking at this map.  Viewing it only takes a few seconds.
Watch the changes in the map.................BRUTAL

I think this forward is broken. No inane ranting about Obama, socialism or anything like that. No crazy. No racism. What gives?

Yes, we are in a deep recession. So what's the solution? More tax cuts for the top 1%? Allowing US corporations to wantonly off-shore US jobs to third world countries while blaming undocumented workers for "taking away jobs" from US workers??

@ anon:

A little subtlety here. Since
the Democrats are ascendent, the
wingers are relying on the
notoriously short memories of
Americans.

Thus, the implication is that
the Recession is Obama's fault.

Clearly, we should blame McCain. He suspended his Presidential campaign to fix the economy, right?

Hah, just got the same email from my own "right wing dad"!

He's definately of the mindset that "the economy is bad...Obama is in office...therefore it's his fault". A real tax cuts are the answer for everything type too. He unabashedly admits to watching ONLY fox news and reading Investors Business Daily".

Odd though: He ( and the rest of the RW ) have contempt for the unemployed and are dead set against umemployment extension money....Yet, decry the large amount of unemployment caused by...you guessed it.........

The RW can be ideologue blockheads, but they just turned it up to a level where all that matters is that their "team" wins. Nothing else matters.

If you'd like to roll your own unemployment figures, here's a blog post detailing how to do so on the BLS Web site.

I'd suggest looking at Reagan's first term, just for comparison.

Whoops, that didn't work. Try THIS link.

Also, on the whole mess being Obama's fault, here's a monthly unemployment chart. Scroll down to the bottom, then see when it starts to rise. I don't think it's under Obama!

I have my issues with what Obama's done (or not done) in terms jobs and unemployment. That said, playing the "blame game" is for chumps. One of my bigger gripes with rightwingers is that all they want to do is sit around blaming liberals, feeling smugly self-righteous, and if they offer any solutions, it's the same stupid stuff that got us into this fix in the first place.

What's that definition of insanity again? Continuing to do the same thing that doesn't work in the hopes that this time it will??

People, please! This is very simple!

Anything bad during Carter's term = Carter's fault

Anything bad during Reagan or Bush 1's term = Carter's fault.

Anything bad during Clinton's term = Clinton's fault

Anything bad during Bush 2's term = Clinton's fault.

Anything bad durign Obama's term = Obama's fault.

It's all very simple, once you understand how it works.

Now you just need to study the above until you get it, so that way you won't make any more silly mistakes when placing blame for anything that happens in the US.

On one of the MSNBC shows on 8/12, they showed clips from various Republican conventions up to 12 years after Carter's Presidency ended. And the Republics were dissing Carter and blaming him for over 12 years!

But if Obama calls out a crappy unpopular policy that was due to Bush, such as TARP (which more citizens think BHO enacted, but it was Bush that did it), the media and conservatives go nuts telling BHO that he needs to stop "blaming Bush" and stand on his own record.

Ye olde IOKIYAR applies, of course.
