Fwd: FW: Japan...philosophy we could use!

Too bad we aren’t following some of these rules and regulations.

Japan: Some Interesting Facts
* Japan prevents the use of mobile phones in trains, restaurants and indoors.
* For first to sixth primary year Japanese students must learn ethics in dealing with people.
* Even though one of the richest people in the world, the Japanese do not have servants.  The parents are responsible for the house and children.
* There is no examination from the first to the third primary level because the goal of education is to instill concepts and character building.
* If you go to a buffet restaurant in Japan you will notice people only eat as much as they need without any waste because food must not be wasted.
* The rate of delayed trains in Japan is about 7 seconds per year! The Japanese appreciate the value of time and are very punctual to minutes and seconds.
* Children in schools brush their teeth (sterile) and clean their teeth after a meal at school, teaching them to maintain their health from an early age.
* Japanese students take half an hour to finish their meals to ensure proper digestion because these students are the future of Japan.
The Japanese focus on maintaining their culture.  Therefore,
* No political leader or a prime minister from an Islamic nation has visited Japan - not the Ayatollah of Iran, the King of Saudi Arabia nor a Saudi Prince!
* Japan is a country keeping Islam at bay by putting strict restrictions on Islam and ALL Muslims.
1) Japan is the only nation that does not give citizenship to Muslims.
2) In Japan permanent residency is not given to Muslims.
3) There is a strong ban on the propagation of Islam in Japan
4) In the University of Japan, Arabic or any Islamic language is not taught.
5) One cannot import a 'Koran' published in the Arabic language.
6) According to data published by the Japanese government, it has given temporary residency to only 2 Lakhs, Muslims, who must follow the Japanese Law of the Land. These Muslims should speak   Japanese and carry their religious rituals in their homes.
7) Japan is the only country in the world that has a negligible number of embassies in Islamic countries.
8) Muslims residing in Japan are the employees of foreign companies.
9) Even today, visas are not granted to Muslim doctors, engineers or managers sent by foreign companies.
10) In the majority of companies it is stated in their regulations that no Muslims should apply for a job.
11) The Japanese government is of the opinion that Muslims are fundamentalist, and even in the era of globalization they are not willing to change their Muslim laws.
12) Muslims cannot even rent a house in Japan.
13) If anyone comes to know that his neighbor is a Muslim then the whole neighborhood stays alert.
14) No one can start an Islamic cell or Arabic 'Madrasa' in Japan ..
15) There is no Sharia law in Japan .
16) If a Japanese woman marries a Muslim, she is considered an outcast  forever.
17) According to Mr. Kumiko Yagi, Professor of Arab/Islamic Studies at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, " There is a mind frame in Japan that Islam is a very narrow minded religion and one should stay away from it." The Japanese might have lost the war, but they are in charge of their own country. There are no bombs going off in crowded business centers, "Honor Killings", nor killing of innocent children or anyone else.

Right off the bat, wrong. "Japan" does not prevent anything. It is considered rude to talk on your phone in an enclosed space like a restaurant or train car, but it's not a law. Furthermore, using your phone for other things (texting, internet, games) is extremely common in all these situations. Many Japanese phones have what is called "manner mode", which prevents calls but allows for all the other uses of modern smartphones.

But let's talk about some other things Japan has: Universal health care. Higher tax rate. Near total gun control. A very small military budget.

Sound good to you RWD?

We saw a variation of this one a few years ago.

At any rate, typical RWD specious bullshit.

The Muslim part of this diatribe is easily debunked. Almost none of it is true, of course. Quelle surprise... not.

If you go to a buffet restaurant in Japan you will notice people only eat as much as they need without any waste because food must not be wasted..
I have no idea if this true or not, but RWD never wastes any food at a buffet restaurant either. Too bad he eats so much that he's hugely obese and a drain on our health care system.

Yeah, we all love those high speed, punctual Japanese trains. They've had them for 50 years. I'm still waiting for ours, except that one political party in particular isn't interested in funding such things.

I'm an expert on Japan. I've lived in both rural and urban Japan for 5 years, I have published on Japanese culture and history, and I teach its language and history at a University.

This list is mostly BS.

Point by point, my comments...

Part 1 about general Japan:
Japanese use mobile phones everywhere, but they tend to mute them in trains and restaurants.
True, but this is taught mostly in Homeroom classes.
The richest Japanese do have servants.
If this refers to 1-3 grade of elementary/primary school, there are plenty of exams.
I guess, but there are very few buffet restaurants in Japan.
Yes, trains and buses are punctual to a fault--in 2005 a train conductor was responsible for the death of 106 passengers and himself to reach the next station on time.
Some, yes, but not all...same as the US.
Students don't eat like that in my experience, and neither do adults. Whitney Houston is rolling in her grave too.

Part 2 on cultural maintenance...
*Not true
*Not true
1) Not true
2) Not true
3) Not true
4) Not true and is directly contradicted by 17) below
5) Not true...you can find the Koran in public libraries
6) I don't know about Lakhs residency, but anyone in Japan must follow Japanese law.
7) Unclear by what is meant by "negligible"
8) There are, and there are others employed by Japanese companies.
9) Not true
10) Not true
11) Not true, and there are no "Muslim laws" in Japan whatever that means.
12) Not true, although Japanese landlords can legally discriminate against foreigners.
13) Not true
14) One would hope that terrorist cells can't be started anywhere, but the truth is different. And "Madrasa" is not a "cell"
15) True, but that applies to any non-theocracy.
16) Not true
17) Maybe this person said that quote, but Kumiko is a woman's name. The Japanese Constitution still follows laws imposed by SCAP and the US has multiple bases in Japan. Aum Shinrikyo was responsible for a Sarin gas attack in Tokyo, killing a dozen people and permanently injuring hundreds in the 1990s. There have been several cases of knife attacks and gruesome murders of innocent children, including the worst mass killing that happened last month when a Japanese man killed 19 mentally disabled adults and children.

As indicated, this isn't strictly true, but apparently the Japanese are more polite about their use of electronics in public. Can you just imagine RWD's outrage over being told what to do by the US gubmint on this score? All the "Libertarians" would go nuts, too.

So what's the point of this anyway? More dissing of the dirty Moozlinz who make RWD very a-skeeert. Chicken.
