The Affordable Plumbing Act

Only weeks after leaving office on January
20, 2017, former president Barack Hussein Obama discovers a leak under his sink,
so he calls Joe the Plumber to come out and fix it.  Joe drives to Obama's new house, which is
located in a very exclusive gated community near Chicago , where all the
residents have a net income of more than $250,000 per
year.

Joe arrives and takes his tools into the
house. Joe is led to the guest bathroom that contains the leaky pipe under the
sink. Joe assesses the problem and tells Obama that
it's an easy repair that will take less than 10 minutes.   Obama
asks Joe how much it will cost.   Joe checks his rate chart , and says,
"$9,500." "What?!
-- $9,500?" Obama asks, stunned -- "But you said it's an easy repair !
Michelle will whip me if I pay a plumber that much!" Joe says
"Yes, but what I do is charge those who make $250,000 per year a much higher
amount , so I can fix the plumbing of poorer people for free .  This
has always been my philosophy.
As a matter of fact, I lobbied the Democrat Congress, who passed this philosophy
into law.   Now
all plumbers must do business this way.   It's known as ‘The Affordable
Plumbing Act of 2014 .’ I'm surprised you haven't heard of it." Obama
tells Joe there's no way he's paying that much for a small plumbing repair, so
Joe leaves.   Obama
spends the next hour flipping through the phone book calling for another
plumber, but he finds that all other plumbing businesses in the area have gone
out of business. Not
wanting to pay Joe's price, Obama does nothing , and the leak goes unrepaired
for several more days.   A
week later , the leak is so bad , that Obama had to put a bucket under the sink.
Michelle is not happy , as she has Oprah and guests arriving the next
morning. The
bucket fills up quickly , and has to be emptied every hour , and there's a risk
that the room will flood, so Obama calls Joe and pleads with him to
return.
Joe goes back to Obama's house, looks at the leaky pipe, checks his new rate
chart and says, " T his will now cost you $21,000." Obama
fires back, "What! -- A few days ago you told me it would cost
$9,500!"   Joe
explains, "Well, because of the Affordable Plumbing Act, a lot of wealthier
people are learning how to maintain and take care of their own plumbing, so
there are fewer payers into the plumbing exchanges.
As a result, the price I have to charge wealthy people like you keeps
rising. Not
only that, but for some reason , the demand for plumbing work by those who get
it for free has skyrocketed! ”   “
There's a long waiting list of those who need repairs , but the amount we get
doesn't cover our costs.   This
unfortunately has put a lot of my fellow plumbers out of business, and they're
not being replaced, and nobody is going into the plumbing business , because
they know they can't make any money at it.   I'm
hurting, too, all thanks to greedy rich people like you who won't pay their fair
share."

That dumb ass Obummer has never heard of duct tape (aka - Alabama Chrome) to fix plumbing leaks? ;-)

Duct tape? Are you crazy? That's the kind of idiotic short term thinking I would expect from a GOP troll.

There are 554 words in this screed, and it doesn't make a bit of sense.

I'm sure there's a point, but I have no idea what it's supposed to be.

Plumbers charge too much?
How could a law get passed without the president knowing about it?

Or is this supposed to be some sort of allegory that suggests that thanks to the Affordable Care Act, rich people are now going to perform their own medical services?

This is a pretty poorly focused attack on .....something.

Wait, who is Joe the Plumber?

I know of a Sam Wurzelbacher, who apparently thought he was a plumber but never had his own plumbing license and thus wasn't legally a plumber, and certainly never owned his own plumbing business.

He's also the same guy who wrote this to parents grieving after a madman killed their kids:

"As harsh as this sounds—your dead kids don't trump my Constitutional rights"

Sounds like a real nice guy.

Everything conservatives said about ACA was either a lie, remarkably stupid, or both.

Oh well, at least you have Citizens United.

to anon above: Obummer is such an Ivy League elitist that he has no idea on how to "nigga-rig" a plumbing leak. But then again, he's half Black and half White, so what can one expect.

Poor Obummer, he's not a very resourceful dude. But, he did know how how to roll some mean ass doobies during his formative years.....dude was a friggen' stoner! :-(

I have a lot of issues with ACA, myself, but whatever this word salad is attempting to get across is worthless gibberish.

Let us not forget that ACA was crafted by rightwing think tank American Heritage Foundation and originally touted by GOP politician, Bob Dole. Rightwing Mitt RMoney passed something similar when he was Gov of MA.

I, frankly, wanted a Single Payer plan, but if my memory serves me, the outrageously wealthy Koch Brothers dropped a few dimes to create the Tea Party, and one of the Koch's first initiatives was to gin up the rubes into shrieking and caterwauling about the ACA.

The GOP has reliably wasted inordinate amounts of time pretending to try to overthrow this legistion, but they never will. Why? Because their benefactors in BigInsurance, BigPharma, BigHospital, etc, won't let them.

It's all a dog 'n pony show, which, as usual can be summed up thusly:

Divide and Conquer.

And yes Sam Wurzlebacher was never a plumber, but dumbass Tea Party idiots still somehow find a way to "believe" in him. Typical rightwing FAIL: believe Liars, Crooks & Thieves as long as they are purported to be dissing da N-Word.

Dullards. Easily misled.

@ Mike

Charming. Nothing like stupidity paired with casual racism to really make yourself look insightful.

Obama would probably know that using duct tape to fix a plumbing leak is a terrible idea. It will work as a temporary fix, but it's just a cheap band-aid which will eventually fail. Sounds a lot like many GOP policies.

To Last Anon -

Just like using Duct Tape to fix plumbing big plumbing problems... rightwingers claim that it's only bc of ACA that the "better off" are forced into paying for worthless, hated, scum poor peoples' health insurance to enable them to get some kind of health care.

ACA is far from perfect, and I don't much like it either. However, dumb rightwingers live in the delusion that somehow, before ACA, they didn't have pay for the worthless poor to get health care. Let 'em rot! is the rallying cry of these "Christianists."

But we were all paying for the health care of those not able to buy health ins previously. GW Bush said: let the poor go to the ER: THAT's their health care organization.

Who was paying for ER, if not those of us better off with some kind of health insurance plans?

One way or the other, those that are better off are *paying* for those less well off to get some kind of health care.

ACA is an attempt to sort of control the process, whilst ensuring big kickbacks to the "Bigs" in the health care industry. Rightwingers fought against and decried so-called dreaded "socialism" in the guise of nationalized health care or single payer plans.

So: this is what they got. A rightwing give-away to Insurance Companies. Their beef is a reflexive racism against the all-time "enemy" Obama for the usual bigoted but stupid reasons.

So what is Sam Wurzlebacher's solution to this "problem"??

Sam Wurzlebacher us currently unavailable for comments as he presently finds himself at HRS (Hair Replacement Systems) trying to re-grow his beautiful curls.

That lying, bald-headed, redneck, rube was the poster boy for the TeaTards and Sarah Bimbo Palin's bogus "platform"....

Fuck him!

...and yet he managed to get elected to the state Senate, the U.S. Senate and President of the United States twice. In the middle of all of that, he managed to become a self-made millionaire and won a Nobel Peace Prize.

Pretty good track record for a "stoner." Perhaps Republicans should rethink their stance on marijuana legalization.

So Obama was a stoner early on...so what? Clinton was a stoner and you know GWB was a stoner. Why do you think he spent so much time at the ranch in Crawford. He was growing his own patch of Texas Sticky Punch in the back 40 fertilized with cowshit for that extra kick. Yeah, you know he was kicked back in his recliner, puffing a big fatty listening to The Who...."..we don't get fooled again..".

Last three POTUS were all stoners and all got elected twice and the Conservatives still can't see the light.

I think GW Bush was more in cocaine than pot. I just attended a webinar for people in service jobs and how to handle with difficult customers. The ex-cop consultant who led the seminar said he'd prefer to deal with pot-heads any day over someone high on coke or meth.

Something to put in your pipe & smoke, dude...

Schitzengiggles said...

I'm sure GW had his share of blow too but c'mon, some of the shit he said and did...definitely cannabis.

I'm in total agreement with your consultant. Rather deal with stoners than drunks or people on coke or meth.

Maybe. I think W is an alcoholic, not a stoner, but that's just an opinion. His word salad is lot like Sarah Palin = dumb & inarticulate.

but whatever...
