Fwd: FW: Fwd: Fw: : REMINGTON ARMS ON THE MOVE

Good for Remington & Alabama!! JUST LOVE IT !

Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) Doesn't Want Them

Remington, one of the world's largest gun manufacturers, will on Monday join Gov. Robert Bentley (R) to announce they are bringing over 2,000 jobs to Alabama.
Most of the jobs will be relocated from their Ilion, NY plant, and the initial investment in Alabama will be $87 million.

Founded in 1816 in upstate New York, the company is one of the nation's old...est continuously operating manufacturers. Remington is the only U.S. Manufacturer of both firearms and ammunition products and one of the largest domestic producers of shotguns and rifles.

Remington first began considering new locations after the New York legislature passed the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Act in response to the tragic shootings in Newtown, Conn. It broadened the definition of so-called "assault weapons" to include a wide range of guns, including the Bushmaster, which was being manufactured at Remington's New York plant.

A month ago Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) said "extreme conservatives" who are "right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay," have "no place in the state of New York."

Gov. Bentley responded "In Alabama we strongly support and uphold our great U.S. Constitution on which our nation and our states were founded. "The Constitution serves to protect individual freedoms. Among them are those guaranteed in the Second Amendment, which protects the right of the people to keep and bear Arms. We will protect the freedoms of individuals and welcome any one or any company to Alabama to discover as so many have, that we are a pro-business state filled with good, hardworking people. "If Gov. Cuomo doesn't want hard working pro-life and pro-2nd Amendment people in his state, we will gladly take them here in Alabama."

Elections are a battle, Liberty is the war.

We may lose a battle here and there but we must Never lose the war.

Keep fighting the good fight.

Conservatives are such whiny babies.

Cuomo didn't say "they have no place" or that they weren't welcome in New York. He (accurately!) stated that right wing extremists had no chance at winning statewide elections in New York. DUH!

Apparently pointing out the most bit of obvious truth was more than their precious delicate wingnut feelings could take.

Except that the Ilion, NY plant isn't closing down. Or even slowing down.
And their corporate headquarters is in Madison, NC.
It also has plants in Mayfield and Elizabethtown, Kentucky and well as Lonoke, Arkansas.

It's almost as if the decision to open a plant closer to it's other divisions and it's corporate HQ was a business decision related diversification and geographical expansion of it's brand, rather than political motivation.

It's a vast, liberal conspiracy by Remington to turn a profit.

Which War is that? The War of fact-free b.s. v. rational discussion of truth and facts?

Sadly, too many rightwingers are quite happily willing to have that WAR on their intelligence & critical thinking skills to be won by the corporate-fascist propaganda wurlitzer.

Trust the wingnuts to use the gun issue to support their usual glee of jobs moving into a "right to work ( for less ) state".

Notice they had to sneak the abortion issue into this fwd as well, with the "pro-life" BS? I guess throwing a bone just in case one of the recipients of this fwd isn't a single issue gun voter.

Mass gun license application said...

Many Law abiding citizens prefer to buy gun for self defense. Gun control is not a solution to control crime but possession of illegal firearms and ammunition should be stop. Most of the crimes are committed with illegal guns.

We often think that by increasing the gun laws these accidents can be decreased but in reality we will then only give rise to crimes. Criminals don't follow gun laws, and by following gun laws we only restrict ourselves to do self defense against them.

Based on that argument, why have any laws at all?

By restricting guns, forcing gun registration, and punishing illegal guns harshly, the total number of guns on our streets will eventually decrease. As it gets more risky to buy or sell guns, people will have a harder time getting their hands on them and overall gun-homicide deaths will decrease.

We see that gun restrictions do work in the rest of the world. In Europe and much of Asia, the per capita murder rates are far lower than the United States and this is, in part, due to the fact that they have fewer guns available.

Crime still occurs, and murders still happen (and they always will), but it is harder to do massive harm to large numbers of people when guns are less common.

Our current gun laws don’t just let law-abiding citizens defend themselves, but also help criminals getting the weapons which are being used to justify weapon ownership—it should be clear what is happening: the gun industry is essentially dealing to both sides of the criminal conflict. Until sane gun laws are enacted, this small-scale domestic arms race will simply continue and will fuel an ever-expanding body count.

Rule of law matters.
