Because the ONLY difference between Houston and Chicago is the existence or not of gun stores and ability to carry concealed.

I know this will come as a shock, but the Chicago homicide figures are bogus. One sign is that the moron who wrote this couldn't bother to get the homicide rate right from the underlying population and homicide figures. Look up the homicide figures on the Chicago crime wiki page and you'll see that Chicago has never had 1800 homicides in a given year, and that the figure in 2012 was 514, or 19 per 100K, half what the email claims.

I did not try to verify the Houston figures because life is too short.
