The "Passing Through" Sculpture:  a very pleasant  way to view

Notice how the old woman is gazing back at the life that she is leaving  ( and those
she loves)
. ..then passes through the veil of death into the open arms of the Savior.
The "Come Unto Me" bronze sculpture took more than a year to make its first
appearance. Unveiled in the year 2000, the original life-sized bronze monument
stands in the grand foyer of the Spilsbury Mortuary in St. George, Utah.

It has become a scenic attraction, in addition to a comfort to countless families
at a most difficult time of their lives. It portrays the spiritual journey from mortality
to immortality: an aged woman's body, returning to its prime, and back to the
arms of our Savior.

Death is not the end.

We all have an eternal destiny, as "Come Unto Me" portrays.

You sure this statue isn't located inside one of Mitt the Twit's mansions in Utah.

A close relative of mine just passed away. My rightwing family (not Mormons) would enjoy this sculpture. It's not my thing, but a lot of people believe this.

As far as RWFs go, it's OK.

At least it's not virulently attacking "others." If people find this sculpture comforting, so be it.

Is there anything more selfish than wanting enternal life?

ferschitz once again shows how ignorant of an atheist (or perhaps agnostic) he is. There exists plenty of "controversy" in this RWF.

The statue depicts a person "going through a veil" which is what LDS converts are told is required for resurrection and entry to the celestial kingdom (the highest Mormon heaven) where they can live with their version of the Heavenly Father.

Any true Christian (I happen to be Roman Catholic) will tell you that when Jesus died on the cross, the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom granting all who believed direct access to God. But, the false teachers, "prophets", and presidents of the Mormon cult put the veil back and requires its followers to perform works, signs and tokens.

Jesus warned about wolves in sheep's clothing who would introduce false teachings, the LDS cult is just one example of how the Truth can be twisted to deceive many.

Mormon teachings and that statue are for the most part, not Biblical, it's leaven. Let's be like the Bereans that Paul commended in Acts 17:11.

You see my religion-free amigo, ferschitz, one of the dangers of many cults: Just enough Truth to make it palatable. Just like adding sugar and raspberry flavoring....to cyanide.

We can find pleasure, comfort in God's Word - even when heretics use it, for certainly this truth is precious.

Um… Mike you realize that Evangelical Christians view Catholicism as false prophets with the distain that you have for the Mormons.

Are Roman Catholics Christians?

Last Rites

How do you define what exactly is a “true Christian”? How is Mormonism any more ridiculous and cult like than Catholicism, Baptism, Methodists, etc? All of them have over the top dogma and fantastic stories about events that either don’t make any sense, are immoral, or are impossible when viewed with a rational mind.

In the meanwhile their members trip all over each other proclaiming that they are right and others are wrong all while ignoring the larger message that you are supposed to treat others people with decency, respect, and love regardless of what they believe.

@ Randall

Not gonna debate/argue "religion" with you here, pal.

Stick to the topic at hand....the above pictured statue.

I gave my OPINION as to why it's controversial; something ferschitz obviously couldn't comprehend since he's a self-admitted atheist and/or agnostic.

Have a blessed day....and happy Holy Thursday. Going to get my feet washed today in commemoration of The Lord's Last Supper.

Amen.

Sweet Jesus, why are people still snapping at this obvious troll-bait?

Unless Mike is just playing talking heads with himself.
