Is it my imagination or did the right wing cheer for TSA when it was signed into law by Bush the Lesser and then suddenly hate it after Obama was inaugurated?
I'm just waiting for Obama to declare that he loves mom and apple pie to see if the Republicans' heads explode.
Obama could turn out to be a white guy in black face and be proven to be the most pious of Christians, and the rightwing propaganda machine would go nuts excoriating him 24/7/365. Doesn't matter what happens anywhere at any time for any reason: It's all Obama's fault, and conservatives love to hate him. So there!
BTW I can't read the full graphic but I assume it says no terrorists were discovered by the TSA (??). If so, here's a rhetorical Q: isn't THAT the effen POINT of those ridiculous machines?? To DISCOURAGE terrorists from flying on planes?? So, if Zero Terrorists were found, then the TSA machines actually did their job. Like: DUH.
Disclaimer: I think most of what TSA does is a complete waste of time and money, but that's a different story.
FYI it reads like this:
December 2013 Statistics On Airport Full Body Screening From CATSA :
Terrorists Discovered 0
Transvestites 133
Hernias 1,485
Hemorrhoid Cases 3,172
Enlarged Prostates 8,249
Breast Implants 59,350
Natural Blondes 3
It was also discovered that 308 politicians had no balls.
Thought you'd like to know.

Yes, that's the dynamic all right, and no, it's not your imagination. Add to that same dynamic the Patriot Act. Now both of those are disliked by the right wingers also due to the fact that they use it as a forum for their anti "big government" rhetoric: Big government they were OK with under GWB.
Somewhat related as well are the same crowd that worships law-enforcement and adopts a "lock 'em up and throw away the key" and "obey police commands" mantra...except when they themselves get a DWI,traffic citation or are nabbed for other offenses; at which point they bleat about "tyranny of the government" and all that other teabagger bullshit.

TSA was started under W Bush, and at the time conservatives cheered themselves hoarse over it.
Naturally now that there is a D Pres, conservatives scream themselves hoarse over how terrible the TSA is.

"One of the politicians instrumental in creating the TSA, Rep. John Mica, who wrote the legislation that established the TSA, has apparently decided that the whole thing has been a failure and should be dismantled. He notes that 'the whole program has been hijacked by bureaucrats.'
And also:
Now, one could (and perhaps should) note that when Mica wrote the legislation, his particular political party was in power, and now it's not. So the cynical voice might say that his words are somewhat politically motivated. And one can (and probably should) ask how it was that Mica didn't expect this kind of result. This is what the government does. It creates agencies that are then "hijacked by bureaucrats." While it's nice to see him realizing this now, it's too bad he didn't see it back then."
Lather, rinse, repeat.
It's not just conservatives who fall into this trap of loving something when their "team" does it, but then immediately hating it when the other "team" is in charge.
Just would be nice if US citizens could figure that out for a change. Won't hold my breath.
TSA was, is, and will forever more be a giant reactive boondoggle that doesn't really provide much in the way of "security" or "keeping us safe from terrorists." However, that's true no matter who is in the White House and/or has a majority in the House or Senate.
The Republicans are always going on about how the government can't do anything right and that the private sector can do anything better than the government.
People forget that the TSA came to exist after we started with private sector security and it failed us. People were successfully carrying anything and everything through security, including guns and even chainsaws.
We got the TSA because the private sector demonstrated that they weren't up to the task.
"The O'hare Chainsaw Massacre" ...sounds like a great 'B' movie no? Sure to be a cult classic.
