No, I'm not. Thanks for the reminder, RWD!

Those aren't the things you should be worried about.

Not at all. If that's the metric for this week's elections, then I guess the Dems will win in a landslide.

Shorter A: NO.

Next Q.

"...then I guess the Dems will win in a landslide."

Sadly, the Dem strategy of appeasement, tringulation, and the DCCC cutting support for actual progressive candidates vs the damned Blue Dogs means that they'll get their clocks cleaned tomorrow.

I thought Kim Messick had a pretty good analysis of the GOPs and the leadership (such as it is) of the Dems.

Long, but confirms what a lot of us already know.

I might get "beheaded" via a circumcision in a couple of months for sanitary measures.

Does that count?

While the Dems deserve to get their clocks cleaned for leaving their constituents completely high & dry, there is no denying the New Jim Crow voting laws, which seek to limit poll access, especially to minorities, the elderly and students:

@ Hooray4US: Looking forward to tomorrow when Harry Reid becomes irrelevant in the Senate. YEAH!!!! Finally, obstruction in the Senate will end. However, I fear voter fraud will be so heavy tomorrow that Reid will stay in office. The dead will come out of the ground, Mickey Mouse and Micky Mantel will vote dozens of times in key states, and our foreign nationals will carry the day.

Things will remain the same I fear.

Unfortunately Mike is right. Seems we have a choice between either gridlock or no gridlock but a lot more legation to hurt the poor, middleclass, education systems, wages, etc. All while the news networks speculate as to why voter apathy is so high.

On a side note, I didn’t know that Mickey Mouse was dead, nor did I know he was alive and could vote. I guess you learn something new every day!

I am tempted to follow the lead of that very smart young man who voted for the Lizard People in the 2008 Senate Race in MN.

Al Franken has certainly proven to be a total waste of space & money sell-out, but who'd want Norm Coleman either?

Schitzengiggles said...

Who is Micky Mantel? Any relation to Kim Hung Un or is he just another imaginary fraud concocted by the GOP?

Anonymous said...

Maybe Micky Mantel works with Santa Clause? But I thought they were responsible for the War on Xmas!!!111!!!, not for voter fraud. Who knew?

LOL - Okay guys....Mickey Mantle.

Fat fingers on "Mike Hawk" (feel really good) ;-)

I wasn't predicting a win by the Democrats; I was suggesting that the Democrats should win in a landslide if the beheading question were the metric used by the public to decide how to vote.

That said, under President Obama the deficit has gone down, unemployment has gone down, the stock market has gone way up, and we're all able to buy health insurance without having our policies canceled when we become ill.

Those are things the Democrats should be pointing out right and left, reminding people that Democratic policies largely help people and Republican policies largely hurt people.

Unfortunately, most of the Democrats in Congress are afraid of Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, any Republican and their own shadow.

Pity, and we're all going to suffer for it.

Here's what the Dems SHOULD be running on, but for some inexplicable reason, are not:

–The deficit has been cut from $1.4 trillion in 2009 to $500 billion today. The only Republican president in the last 70 years to leave office with a reduced deficit was Eisenhower, while three Democratic presidents, including Obama, have achieved this status.

–6.1 percent unemployment, down from 10.2 percent, and expected to drop to 5.4 percent by next Summer.

–4.3 million jobs created, in spite of taking office when 800,000 jobs were being lost per month.

–The DJIA has climbed from around 6,000 to a record high of 17,000.

–63 consecutive months of economic expansion following the worst recession since the Great Depression.

–25 consecutive months of increased domestic manufacturing.

–The lowest growth rate in government spending in 50 years.

–Domestic automakers are turning record profits.

–Even though there are serious environmental concerns, we’re exporting more oil than we import for the first time since 1995.

–Gas prices are well below $4 per gallon.

–More than 10 million Americans now have affordable, comprehensive health insurance

Thanks for nothing DCCC, DNC, and DSCC. Always spam-begging for my money, yet doing nothing to represent progressive values.

Fuck you guys, seriously.

You guys make some good points about the economy. I could quibble that the unemployment figures are quite as good as they look bc they don't include those (I know quite a few) who really want a job but simply cannot find one (and haven't been able to find one since 2009).

Bringing down the deficit isn't really necessary. I'm no economics guru, so hard to elaborate beyond that. Visit Naked Capitolism, and the gurus there will explain better than I could.

Nonetheless, yes the deficit has been brought down.

etc.

WHY doesn't the D-Team do a "better job"?? Well here's my redundant speculation... because they WANT the R-Team to win. Then they can scurry for cover under the R-Team skirts (after all, the preponderance, if not all, of D-pols in the District of Criminals can be identified as at least Republican-lite if not more so) and happily witness conservative policies and laws being enacted.

Yes, the Ds have done *some* good stuff but agree that they don't run on it. And then, as if by magic, the Rs "win."

Duly noted that the R-Team during this election has kept the Klown Kar nutjobs out of the spotlight, so that the Rs seem a little more, uh, normal than usual.

You know me, though, I don't think it matters much anymore. Everyone is in the pay of the 1%. We know have anything remotely resembling a "representative democracy." It's corporate fascism on parade.

TRY: triangulation

Schitzengiggles said...

The Conservatives - and powered primarily by the TP -have just shifted the Overton Window such that batshit crazies like Ernst, Gohmert, Palin, Bachmann, etc. are now palatable to their base. It's quite frankly been masterfully done since oh about 2007 and the D's are left wondering "WTF?".

gruaud said...

Man, those are some clean clocks.

Apparantly, no one wants Republican Lite when they can get Teaparty Rum 151.

Democratic chickenshit leaders, you'll never learn. How about you acually stand for something instead of 'we're not as bad as the other guys.'

CharlieE said...

I'll give the Republicans credit for one thing - they absolutely OWN messaging.

Their message is terrible, but they are really good at delivery.

Republican Saint Ronald Reagan did a tremendous amount of harm during his two terms in office, but perhaps his most significant accomplishment, and one that's seldom mentioned, was eliminating the Fairness Doctrine. Prior to 1987, if you wanted to give a fact-free blowhard such as Rush Limbaugh three hours of daily airtime, you had to give EQUAL time to the opposing point of view. Reagan did away with that and Rush, Fox, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck and others of their ilk took over.

Eliminating the Fairness Doctrine, and with it, removing actual facts from the airwaves, was the worst thing Reagan ever did.

gruaud said...

Fairness Doctrine Repeal + Citizens United + Corporate Media + spineless Dem leadership = Progressivism is fighting a four-headed dragon. While using a spork for a weapon.

ferschitz said...

I'll be tediously redundant: Dems were complicit, and this it the outcome that they chose and worked for. Hooray for Victory!

PS Mike Hawk: try using the googler to look up triangulation. Worth educating yourself about that (not being snarky).
