Most people who participate in the SNAP program have jobs. Most people who participate in the SNAP program are Caucasian.

The friends I have with SNAP benefits are all elderly white people who worked all their lives (one friend worked until she was 82), but for various reasons do not have enough to live on in their so-called "golden years." Guess, at the age of 87, my friend should stop being so d*mn lazy and get offa her worthless butt and get another jawb.

I only skimmed the actual article and agree that it didn't seem to focus on race.
However, many commenters focused solely & only on race and were very bigoted and ugly and outspoken about it.

By the way, as with the people Fershitz mentions, I have a friend who -- at 80 -- is on food stamps. I have another friend who is a quadriplegic. He's been confined to a wheelchair since he was 22. He makes a little money writing feature articles, but yes, he too is on food stamps, as well as medicaid.
These are the people RWD hates so rabidly. And RWD does it while going to church every Sunday and calling himself a Christian.

You'd be surprised at a lot of the good Christian things churchgoing RWD is your local community. When was the last time YOU worked a soup kitchen or collected winter jackets for the less fortunate? If every Republican knew that the typical person enrolled in the SNAP program was an employed Caucasian, I can guarantee that they'd have no objections to the program.

By the way, I donate regularly to our local food bank and to other charities; I tutor kids at the local library (as do other professors at my university); and both that library *and* the university I work for regularly collect clothes (including winter jackets, yes), food, books, and other goods for the hungry and poor in our town, as well as for students in other countries.

Maher most definetely leans to the Left on the majority of most social and political issues. He does hold a handful of conservative stances;he's in favor of the death panalty and gun ownership and other b.s. issues. He voted for Obama twice.In the 2016 U.S. presidential election, Maher initially endorsed Senator Bernie Sanders on February 5, 2016. Maher later announced his support for Hillary Clinton after Sanders had lost the Democratic Party primary elections.
