Haha. That's really telling of the right wing understanding of patriotism. "The greatest nation in the world" means we have the greatest PREMISE for a nation (in that the premise allows us to CHANGE the way we function as a nation, in response to the advancement of society and technology and reason) it doesn't mean we are always right and should keep doing the "traditional" thing no matter what. It means... the opposite of that.
As I expected, the quote is bogus insofar as Obama never uttered it. What is funny, though, is that the quote was originally put in the mouth of John McCain--as a joke-- by a winger at National Review. Snopes as usual has the scoop here.
