A Left-leaning Supreme Court tends to expand the Constitutional rights of individuals.

A Right-leaning Supreme Court tends to restrict them in favor of expanding rights for churches and corporations.

For some reason, the average Republican voter gets really excited at the prospect of having Constitutional rights taken away from them.

I will never understand this.
