Fwd: FW: Holiday Thought for the day

Merry Christmas everyone.
.

Christmas Poem”

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF
PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO
IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
A SOBER THOUGHT
CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,
I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,
ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
SILENT, ALONE,
CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
NOT HOW I PICTURED
A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO
OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?
CURLED UP IN A PONCHO,
THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES
THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS
WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,
THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM
EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,
LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER
HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE
IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT
BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
I DROPPED TO MY KNEES
AND STARTED TO CRY.

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED
AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
"SANTA DON'T CRY,
THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,
MY LIFE IS MY GOD,
MY! COUNTRY, MY CORPS."

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER
AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,
I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I WEPT FOR HOURS,
SO SILENT AND STILL
AND WE BOTH SHIVERED
FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE
ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,
WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA,
IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,
AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND!
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

This poem was written by a Marine.

The following is his request.  I think it is reasonable.....

PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our U.S. service men and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities.  Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe.  Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us.  Please, do your small part to plant this small seed.

I think I just threw up in my mouth

Trust a RW-er to try to weave military worship and neocon foreign policy into an all-time classic poem....and ruin it. Extra boos for trying to shame people into propagating it.

Why are you liberal weenies still PROPAGATING this old news in your liberal media:

Mike seems pretty excited at the prospect of oral sex from male strangers.

Closet door finally opening, Mike?

I'm thinking that could've been gruaud the S.F. Bay area resident.

No, Mike. It's you, alright.

This is bullshit. No Marine - and they will go out of their way to tell you - refers to themselves or other Marines as "soldiers". "Soldiers" are in the Army.

I thought you cowardly country hating liberals called then dumb ass jarheads or the expendables.

No, your masters call them that.

Supporting the troops isn't slapping on a bumpersticker and sneering at liberals.

We try to keep them out of harm's way in the first place.

Mike Hawk said...

Most liberals I know are anti everything military, and are very vocal in their disdain of everything military.

Whether they are kept out of harm's way is up to their commanding officers and the objective of their missions.

Now scoot along gruaud, don't you have a NY Times crossword puzzle to solve and a double-latte to sip on at your local coffee shop.

Sip up and shut up.

And don't forget to fill in that crossword puzzle in pen...only insecure touchy/feely liberals use pencils with erasers on the end.

Liberals aren't anti-military (they won WWII, no thanks to conservatives, who admired the fascists then and still do today).

They're anti-MIC. Big difference, but one too subtle for one as willfully ignorant as the troll.

Mike Hawk said...

LOL at your naïve statement that "they won WWII".

What universe do you live in, and on which planet?

When you say..."THEY"....who the hell are you specifically talking about. Please elaborate.

This should be interesting.

Last time I checked a history book, FDR was a liberal, congress tilted liberal, the SCOTUS leaned liberal, and the United States was peaking. Liberals ended the Great Depression, won WWII, and the gap between the plutocrats and the 99% was at an all-time low. Again, conservatives fought tooth and nail against any measures to mitigate the Depression, opposed entry into WWII, and attacked FDR for no other reason than he was a 'traitor' to the 1%. FOX News is no way to get an education, son.

The 1% has been attacking liberals ever since and you totally buy into that agenda, hoping for scraps, but content to simply punch down.

So the "they" you are refering to are the folks/politicians what you rambled about above? Huh?

So, by your reasoning (that politicians/elected/appointed civil servants) are the "they"...that won WW2
please explain to me how "they" did that without setting a foot on the battlegrounds of the Eurooean Theater or the Pacific.

BTW - Do you believe the USA lost Vietnam because of the politicians back home?

Could be that politicians certainly can lose us a war....but literally..."they" can NOT win us a war. Not ever, now, or in the future.

Respect the man/woman brave enough to serve (either voluntarily or drafted), and be grateful that you are lucky enough to live in this incredible country in the year 2016.

P.S. - The folks in Cuba are the ones "hoping for scraps" from their overlord, the totally fucked up Raul Castro and his socialistic regime with absolutely no human redeeming values.

P.S. - Ol' FDR is today's modern liberal's God. But, your statements above aren't exactly true and should be taken in proper historical context.

The terms liberal and conservative back in the 30s and 40s were applied much differently than they are today.

http://rooseveltforward.org/bipartisanship-made-new-deal-possible/

Secondly - FDR was lucky enough to have appointed all but 2 of the SCOTUS judges during his time in office. He even tried to shake up things with an idea called court-stacking. Thankfully, the court-stacking proposal never came to a vote/fruition.

As far as "the USA was peaking"....what exactly are you getting at here? Peaking economically? Please continue to elaborate for me, if you will.
