A TRIBUTE TO THOSE “LEFT OUT THERE TO DIE”
by Col. William Bauer, USMC
The Battling Bastards of Benghazi

We're the Battling Bastards of Benghazi ,
no fame, no glory, no paparazzi.
Just a fiery death in a blazing hell,
defending the country we loved so well.
It wasn't our job, but we answered the call,
fought to the consulate, 'n scaled th' wall.
We pulled twenty countrymen from the jaws of fate,
led them to safety, 'n stood at th' gate.
Just the two of us, 'n foe by th' score,
but we stood fast to bar th' door.
We called for reinforcement, but it was denied,
so we fought, 'n we fought, 'n we fought, 'n we died.
We gave our all for our Uncle Sam,
'n Obama didn't give a damn,
just two dead SEALS, who carried the load,
no thanks to us, we were bumps in the road.

We need to stop pretending that any military action by the United States, anywhere, constitutes "defending our country" or "defending our freedoms."

The last attack on the U.S. proper by a foreign army took place in 1812. We've had a lot of military intervention since then, but virtually none of it involved defending either U.S. soil or our Constitutional freedoms.

I'm sure it helps Republicans sleep better at night to think otherwise, but they're wrong just the same.

I'm sure this guy was equally as mad at Ronald Reagan when 241 servicemen were killed at a Marine barracks in Beirut in 1983.

That's not what happened.

WTF is this crap? I don't even "get" what they're trying to say, and frankly, why bother. The so-called Benghazi-gate b.s. is just some jumped up shit pumped out by the usual rightwing noise machine. This "version" is called Sore Losers' Reprise.

While it's irrelevant to how incorrect the poem is, I haven't been able to find any mention of this Col. William Bauer, although there have been a few different Colonels with the name, neither of whom was still with us this year.
