Heads Up - Doomsday is near !!!!!!

US Weather Bureau Report

The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consul Ifft, at Bergen, Norway. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers, he declared, all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met with as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared... Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts, which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.

I’m sorry, I neglected to mention that this report was from November 2, 1922 as reported by the AP and published in The Washington Post.

Al Gore...I got a solution to your global warming...I'll just turn up my air conditioner, except that for the last 11 days my temperature has been 20 degrees below average. Dr. Phil moment..How is your global warming working for you now.

@ Anon

Last year was one of the warmest on record, and last decade WAS the warmest on record. Even now, in the middle of this cold snap (which doesn't disprove or prove global warming) there are parts of the globe experiencing record highs and sweltering heat.

I think the real problem with Global warming is its name. People think it means we're going to be wearing shorts in December every year (though if you remember back a few weeks, this December actually was pretty damn warm). The real threat is that small changes in temperature create huge changes in long term weather patterns, leading to floods and drought in various parts of the world.

Ask the people of Burma, who's country is rapidly sinking under a rising sea, what they think about global warming.

Hey anon 1:

One of the symptoms of global warming is more extreme weather patterns.

Also, global warming is the MEAN surface temperature of the entire globe. So yeah, while you may have a record cold spell in Buttfukistan and spent your time at the general store chortling over Al Gore and asking "where is your global warming now?" it just reinforces the generally held conclusion that people who pump gas for a living should not be allowed near a textbook until they have mastered basic English.

Larger lakes in the USA, including Tahoe, are recording record surface high temps even in the middle of winter. There's lots of other proofs of global warming complete with photos.

Stay in denial all you like Anon Post 1, and believe me, your kids, grandkids & the rest of your descendents will curse you for the abject, self-absorbed, cretinous fool that you are. But that's right: I forgot that you rightwingers care ONLY about me, me, me, me, me, MEMEMEEMEEEEEEEE!!!! and money.

So: hey kids & grandkids: screw you!!! I got MINE, so eff you, you jerk turds... and by the way, infant in a stroller: get a job! belch...

Looks like this one originates from or is being pushed by the "Competitive Enterprise Institute", a libertarian think tank.

From Wikipedia:
In March 1992, CEI’s founder Fred Smith said of global warming: "Most of the indications right now are it looks pretty good. Warmer winters, warmer nights, no effects during the day because of clouding, sounds to me like we’re moving to a more benign planet, more rain, richer, easier productivity to agriculture."

RE Fred Smith's new the benign planet Earth.
REALLLY. So after our food supplies are disrupted resulting in widspread starvation, then storms and floods kill more, and hotter weather brings more disease, well the weather should be really great for those who survive. Won't they be pleased. Perhaps mother earth is cleaning up the planet by giving us so many stoopid people to drive all humans off a cliff.

Lets avoid personifying the climate as some thing with an agenda against us. Physics doesn’t have feelings. Lets also attempt to stop thinking of humans as controllers or manipulators or the earth or universe. We are on this roller coaster and does not matter what we do to a large extent. How many times have you flown over this country and looked at all the unpopulated space available. We think we are running out of space because we all want to live in the same damn spot. Fly over New Jersey and taken a look at how much farmland, and space there really is available. It does not matter how many people chase tornados, fly into hurricanes, study earthquakes or map the skies for killer asteroids, we are insignificant to the world and the universe. Humans want to be in control of everything. Opposable thumbs and cognitive thought does not make us keepers of our climate. The only real way to slow down pollution is to stop reproducing the stupid greedy ignorant humans.

@ Anon

Quite a rambling, off topic paragraph you have there.

As small as human beings are in the universe, we do have just a tiny bit of an impact. We are dumping millions of tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Those gases do stay in place and add up, and they do trap heat from the sun. This is science.

Agree w/immediately prior Anon in response to the 2d Anon above. Yes, yes, there are large parts of the USA that are uninhabited, but why don't you try flying over India, or China, or most of Southeast Asia, and see how much uninhabited land there is.

Your thesis proves nothing, and to say that humans can absolutely nothing to control environmental issues is specious as well as stupid. There are many things that humans can do to improve environmental factors.

Stop denying science and use the brain that god gave you for a change.
