After Roosevelt died, the new president Harry Truman established a highly visible President's Committee on Civil Rights and issued Executive Order 9981 to end discrimination in the military in 1948. A group of Southern governors such as Strom Thurmond of South Carolina and Fielding L. Wright of Mississippi met to consider the place of Southerners within the Democratic Party. After a tense meeting with DNC chairman and Truman confidant J. Howard McGrath, the Southern governors agreed to convene their own convention in Birmingham if Truman and civil rights supporters emerged victorious at the 1948 Democratic National Convention.[9

Yes, everything changed after 17 May, 1954, when the Supreme Court declared that segregation was illegal. When Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act in 1964 it caused an existential upheaval in the Democratic Party. In 1972 George Wallace ran in the primary for the Democratic nomination for President. In 1973, President Nixon, a Republican, noted how many Southern Democrats voted for him and how many Democrats in other states were sympathetic to his program. He directed the Republican Party to start wooing these people. Since then the Southern States changed completely from Democrat to Republican and the Republican Party has devoted itself to suppressing Black. The two parties now are the opposite of what they were, so this advertisement is completely wrong.

Anyone who's interested in a quick rundown of the flip-flopping of racism bigotry in the D/R parties should follow Kevin Krause's Twitter feed. He's an actual historian in an actual, accredited university. Not Tru...I mean Prager.
