Fwd: Student takes on Lord's Prayer

Yet Muslims are allowed to go to darkened school cafeteria's at noon to recite their prayers.  A high school in Michigan installed foot baths also.

(TOTALLY  AWESOME)!
The Lord's Prayer Is not allowed in most US Public schools any more.
A kid in Minnesota, wrote the following
NEW School Prayer:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene..
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all..
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the State…
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks...
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong..
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles...
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen
If you aren't ashamed to do this, Please pass this on..
Jesus said, 'If you are ashamed of me,
I will be ashamed of you before my Father.'
~~~~~~~~~AWESOME~~~~~~~~~~
Not ashamed. Passing this on.

In what school did the kid receive an A for this? What sort of assignment would have required such a thing?

It's hard to believe that the 70% of Americans who claim to be Christians think they're a persecuted minority.

Hey'ya fundie nutjob: Go shit in your hat

Stop trying to feign your push to a theocracy as the musings of some kid.

Also, adding to Charlie E's observation; not having your religion ( or the fundamentalist way you want it practiced ) is NOT being persecuted.

It ought to be a sin to shamelessly use feigned Christian piety simply to bash those of other religions, well it probably is a sin.

I have an aquaintance who leads middle schoolers in Christian prayers at the public school where she teaches. The meetings are held out on the school's jogging track. They would have allowed indoor prayers but since a teacher is leading it they required it to be done outside of the building so as not to cause any coercion problems--still it is on school property. If Christians want to say their prayers out loud and proud they can go right ahead and do it. But these folks just want unwarranted attention to spew their hate of others. Its pretty disgusting.

We've seen bogus propaganda like this endlessly. It's the totaly Evangelical/Dominionist meme that they're all so incredibly persecuted simply because of our long-held legal standard of separation of church and state. The same purveyors of this style of propaganda also rail about Muslims imposing Sharia law on their believers, along with the nutso scary scary nonsense that Muslims are right here, right now in the USA forcing Sharia law on these self-same Christianist bullshit artists. It's all about grifting for dollars imo.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Really? In what public school does that happen? This is a total bald-faced lie, but hey, I guess if you LIE on Jeebus' behalf, it's ok.

Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles...
This is at least a two-fer. Firstly, what school "studies" witchcraft and vampires? Other than perhaps discussing the history of witch-hunts (the original kind) in our history, where is witchcraft offered as a subject? It's not. Secondly, nifty how this propagandist "slips in" a huge slap in the face to Native Americans. Like their cultural institutions and belief systems are akin to witchcraft and vampires? Just great.

Sheesh.

Yes, whoever wrote this lying drivel should be banned from any churches for their clearly sinful ways. And no, some high school student didn't write it and get an A+ for it.

We're told to not be ashamed to pass it on. Funny how we have to be told that! Yes, it is a shameful thing.
