No one finds "Merry Christmas" offensive, but "Happy Holidays" is more inclusive, as it includes non-Christians and it acknowledges that there's more than one holiday during this season.
What would the Right do with their time if they weren't angry about everything 24/7?
You want to put 'Christ' back into Christmas? How about putting 'Christ' back into Christian? Instead of being hostile and petulant every December, you'd all be a lot happier.
Growing up in the NE, where we had many Jewish friends and neighbors, my rightwing fundie family always said "Happy Holidays" except at Church. Of course, that was back in the day before Hate Radio, Fox & even the 700 club made being polite, gracious, mature and inclusive a SIN and cause for ChristoFascists to behave like tantrum-throwing nasty ugly children.
At least 10 steps backwards, imo.
I duly note the number of people who say "Merry Christmas" to me at this time of year in very hostile and aggressive tones. What they believe they accomplish by this approach - when I haven't even said the terrible horrid unforgivable politically incorrect "Happy Holidays" to them - is beyond my comprehension.
From now on I'm going to say something silly like "Season's Greetings" and use "X-mas" for christmas ( notice the lower case "c" ) just for spite to break the fundie's balls.
I continue to say "Happy Holidays" because I'm not insecure, and I have a diverse group of friends who celebrate different holidays or none at all. Ramming your particular belief system down everyone's throats doesn't strike me as a winning formula.

Sign looks Photoshopped, BTW.
There is nothing Christian about that. Nothing.

Way to win converts... NOT.
Most. Obvious. Photoshop job. Ever.
