Fw: Shock to NBC

A SHOCK TO NBC
As many of you are aware, it was the Knights of Columbus who submitted to congress that the words "Under God" should be added to our pledge of allegiance. Both Houses of Congress passed the law and it was signed by President Eisenhower in 1954. The information below was based on a poll taken by NBC on what percentage think we should keep the words in our pledge verses the percent who want it removed.
If you read this and agree that "under God" should be left in the pledge, then just forward it to others and you have voted for it to be left in. If you delete it and don't forward it you are voting NO to "under God." Easy enough!

Shock to NBC
This is not sent for discussion. If you agree, forward it... If you don't, delete it. I don't want to know one way or the other. By my forwarding it, you know how I feel.
Do you believe that the word "God" should stay in American culture?

NBC this morning had a poll on this question. They had the highest Number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls, and the Percentage was the same as this:

86% to keep the words, "IN God We Trust" and
"God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, 14% against.

That is a pretty 'commanding' public response.
I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn't.

Now it is your turn. It is said that 86% of Americans believe the word "God" should stay. Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having "In God We Trust" on our money and having "God" in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Why is the world catering to this 14%?

AMEN!

If you agree, pass this on.
if not, simply delete.

In God We Trust
And again I say AMEN!

  1. Unable to provide Snopes link, but this particular poll never happened. Its origins go back to 2004. Guess RWD has nothing else to be self righteously indignant about today. Can't see RWD ever being grateful or thankful, that's for sure.

  2. Funny - no comment on whether we should restore the Nazi salute that once accompanied the pledge.

We're a secular nation, created as such. "Under God" has no place in anything sanctioned by the federal government. End. Of. Story.

  4. It's common practice for RWD to repeat something every 6 months or so. If they're out of new shit to be outraged at, they just recycle the same old shit. Oh they might throw in a couple of modifications like bold and/or colored text, lot of exclamations and all-caps believing that gives it more merit. Or they might combing two into one (usually identifiable by the multiple fonts as they cut and paste and are too lazy to edit the fonts). Or even better adding the phrases "hurry before the Internet takes it down!" or some permutation thereof. I don't forward any emails of this ilk because quite frankly most RWD are too stupid to realize as they add people from their address book to the list, all it takes is one spammer to get ahold of it and they have a built in verified contact list to whom they can send Viagra ads. I regret giving some people my email address because all they do is pollute my inbox with this sort of shit. That's not to say I may or may not agree with it, I just think it's a crock to continue the stupidity of forwards and being outraged at every little thing.

  5. You can always tell a fake Christian from a real Christian because the fakes are relentless with their weaponized sanctimony.

So the way this RWD little e-mail poll works is the people that agree and forward the e-mail are counted as yes and the people who disagree and don't forward the e-mail are not counted at all?

    @Max

I actually look forward and get a chuckle out of the e-mails I am sent, as I forward them on to this website and am amused by the comments that people put up to them. The main problem is the guy that sends me the stuff (he is not my dad or even related to me) is overweight has diabetes and does nothing but sit around mooching off the Government. Given his health, I am assuming that I won't be getting e-mails like this to forward to MRWD in the not so distant future. I envision that most of the people agreeing and sending on the right-wing forwards that appear on this site are not deep thinkers, unaware of their own hypocrisy, and a lot like him.

  7. @Randall,

Same here. Older acquaintances, ex coworkers, high school friends from years ago etc. Mixed bag but for some reason the Conservatives are the most belligerent in their postings and emails. Cracks me up and as you say, they claim the Left (or basically anyone who doesn't agree lock step with them) is hypocritical while at the same time oblivious to their own hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance. The are by far the bigest abusers of strawmen, false equivalency, correlation/causation and ad hominem. Oh and by far the biggest violaters of Godwin's law.

Oh and by far the biggest violaters of Godwin's law.

...while supporting a party that has suggested:

That we brand Muslims for easy identification.
That we require Muslims to carry "papers."
That we refuse to allow Muslims into the country.
That we deport the Muslims that are in the country or put them in internment camps.
    That we exterminate Islam worldwide.

But even while supporting such actions, they'll accuse the left of behaving like Nazis.

  9. These mooks are desperately flailing away...panicky...hoping to collect whatever christo-fascist elements into some cohesive voting bloc; as they know that it is only wedge issue left of stupid social issue bullshit that can keep the hoi-polloi from focusing on the plutocrats fleecing said hoi-polloi.

    This:

"We're a secular nation, created as such. "Under God" has no place in anything sanctioned by the federal government. End. Of. Story."

The brutal reality reactionary fundie troglodytes can't handle.
