1) If you are laying off employees because of ACA, the IRS would like a word with you.

2) If you can't afford to offer proper health insurance to your employees, maybe you should go find another line of work.

Yes, yes, we all know the poor LOVE being unemployed. They just LOVE not being able to pay their trailer rent and utilities, and they all just LOVE sitting around all day and texting each other on their Obamaphones about how great it is to buy groceries with food stamps and get free healthcare.

Ugh. I'm so sick of this bullshit from the right that says the poor like being poor. 99% of poor folks would MUCH rather have a job and provide for themselves.

Everyone that I know personnally who got laid off during the crash and following Depression has worked their butts off trying to find other jobs. Thankfully, some have been successful; others are still trying.

No one I know is celebrating being unemployed. No One.

And if companies are laying off employess bc of ACA, then those companies probably are going out of business, which happens all the time. Presently, most companies going out of business are bc of lack of demand, not ACA.

I simply don't understand why rightwingers love to indulge themselves in these clearly debunked myths about teh poorz being lazy & only wanting to rip off the system. It's really old, tedious & pathetic.

Because it fits what they want to believe; which, in turn, is part of the larger narrative being created by FNC and Hate-radio.

Facts just make them double-down even harder on the narrative, because critical thinking means that they would have to be critical of their tribe and that is unacceptable.

Viewed as a whole, it is the greatest propaganda machine ever assembled and has seriously harmed this country. It would be interesting to read history books 100 years into the future analyzing this clusterfuck period.

It's the standard MO of FNC and the hard right:

1. Straw man
2. False equivalency
3. Dismiss the fact that correlation does not imply causation

Pretty much the staple of every RW foward.

I get it... totally. It's just discouraging to see the same old, same old lying b.s.

I can only say that this must mainly be aimed at what is called the Silent Generation (associated with Korean War), who are mostly all retired. I can see where they might be able to bury their heads in the sand and pretend that it's only lazy, lousy minorities or scofflaw youth who simply cannot be bothered to work because they have it so good with all of these free hand-outs.

Of course, that skips the reality that Food Stamps & Unemployment have been radically cut recently, while somehow we are able to provide Ukriane with no less than $5billion in aid.... after OUR tax dollars were used to hire Nazi mercenaries to go in and destabilize a lawfully elected govt.

Oh yeah: THAT's why the rightwing think tanks send out these lies... so conservatives don't figure who's really ripping them off.

Silly me! Same old, same old, indeed.

I'm not seeing this as an indication that the poor like being unemployed. Rather, it seems like a simple attack on the ACA, claiming that the law is costing employers so much money that they have to let their employees go.

The problem with this thinking is...

1. Employers who were already providing insurance to their employees aren't affected by this.

2. Employers who have not been providing insurance to their employees aren't affected by this yet, as the deadline for offering insurance to employees for those companies who aren't doing so already has been pushed back by the Obama administration.

3. Let's not forget that the whole ACA plan originated with the Republicans, who insisted that we could not have anything else.

So, in reality, this is just more complaining that the president is a black Democrat.

I'm shocked. Truly, I am.

All good comments. Re what CharlieE said --- I mostly agree that this is a complaint about ACA - and hence that AA in "their" White House - but I do see it also painting the usual picture of lazy people who don't feel like working because of all the amazing free hand outs available to them. The dog whistle is that it's all lousy liberals lining up for freebies. Conservatives never do that (except when they do).

A two-fer, iow. But mostly a whine about ACA, which was/is a Republican plan.
