Subj: FW: Update on Tarzan

This has to be my very favorite!  Sorry, I can't resist passing it on!
I was at the
store yesterday, and I ran into Tarzan!
I asked him how it was
going and if he was into
making anymore movies.

He told me
that he could no longer make any more
movies as he had severe
arthritis in both shoulders
and could no longer swing from vine to
tree.

I asked how Jane was doing, he told me she
was
in bad shape, in a nursing home, has
Alzheimer's
and no longer recognizes anyone. How sad.

I asked
about Boy,
and he told me that Boy had gone to the big
city,
got hooked up with bad women, drugs, alcohol,
and the
only times he heard from him was when
he was in trouble or needed
something.

I asked
about Cheeta, he beamed and said she was doing good.

She married a lawyer, had
gotten some plastic surgery, and now lived in the White House!!!

 I know, something bad
is going to happen to me for sending
this to you, but I couldn't resist !!!

Unfortunately, a lot of Republicans seem to think this type of "joke" is A-Ok.

Marilyn Davenport is still a member of the Orange County Central Committee despite her "joke" about Obama being a monkey:

Just so you know, Davenport considers herself a staunch "Christian" and published "Christian" books. Of course, Davenport felt victimized when called out for being an abject racist.

OC GOP did initially ask Davenport to resign from the OC GOP Central Committee, but Davenport had enough supporters to keep her on board.

But but but, ya see: the joke's "not racist." Per usual Davenport was sorry about the content of her racist email that got public notice. Nay, verily, in true bigoted GOP form, Davenport was merely "sorry" that she got busted for it.

Any joke preceded by "Sorry, I can't resist passing it on!" ought to make you stop and think, "Now why is an apology necessary? Maybe this 'joke' would be hurtful to someone?" And in this case is actually revolting and insulting to almost everyone except the most naked racist.

Gives historical context for the racist association of African Americans with monkeys and gorillas.

Most of these white crackers who say this is "just funny, can't you take a joke," or compare it to the photos of GW Bush as a chimpanzee, are disingenous liars. Nothing new about that with rightwingers, especially racist Tea Partiers.

The rightwing has employed the Southern Strategy to get out the vote because appealing to some voters' racist bigotry works.

Try as they might to victimize themselves when called on this, try as they might to say it's "funny," they know deep down it's racist, it's divisive, it's meant to be aggressively bullying and hostile to another race.

Sadly, all in a day's work for rightwing think tanks and their co-dependent racist enablers who pass on this trash.

So are conservatives saying that only Africans are descended from apes? But whites are not?

How does that tally with most conservatives who say that they don't believe in evolution at all?

No, its much worse than that. The historical premise of this awful "joke" isn't that black folks evolved from apes, its that black people are apes. As in not human. Not deserving of respect or acknowledgement as fellow human beings.

It doesn't have to involve their beliefs about evolution at all.
