Here is a good question for all Americans!
. . .  an excellent question actually!

It's ONLY extremist rightwingers & probably some rightwing propoganda think tank that are positing that it's not "OK" for Tebow to do his, uh, Tebowing at football games.

WHO, in reality, has said it's not ok for Tebow to pray or whatever it is that he does? Some random citizens? SO?? Who gives a shit?

To my knowledge, NO ONE has stopped Tebow from his "prayers," so why the whining victimization??

Oh yeah: to pit so-called "Christians" against Muslims, per usual. Hey, Christiany types: look over there!! Teh Moozlins! Pay no attention to how Newt Gingrich & Mitt Romney are ripping you off!

The Apostle Matthew possibly would say that *neither* form of public prayer is "ok."

Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

The Muslims, however, happen to be in public at a time dedicated to communal prayer by their religious faith.

Tim Tebow makes a public spectacle of his personal prayer during an entertainment.

Indeed, no one is saying it's not OK for him to do it...people are just having a great time laughing at it.

I enjoyed the Tebow circus.

He's not a very good quarterback but the show and the hysteria were a lot of laughs. I look forward to next season.

And for Christ's sake: football players are the praying-est bunch of athletes on the planet. Tebow is no different than Reggie White or a host of others.

So chillax, pretend-martyrs.

I have a request for the wingnuts who think this email makes a good point: flip it. Why is Tebow's walking prayer revival such an amazingly good thing, but muslims peacefully practicing their religion something to be feared and ridiculed?

If Tebow would just shutup about it I have no problem with it. He at least walks the walk a little bit more than a lot of NFL Christians.

Plus he is a bad QB

The people I know could give a shit about Tebow's praying thing. They just don't like Tebow's football playing thing...

Tebow's a crummy QB. Get over it.

Some little kid in Africa is dying, lying in his own filth and literally shitting out his intestines because there's no food and no clean water to be had and you think God gives a shit who wins your fucking football game?

Clearly he does, else he wouldn't allow such suffering to go on because he was too distracted by sports.

Of course, that raises questions about the worthiness of such a god for devotion and worship.

It's so hard to be a Christian. I'm an anti-theist liberal heathen but am also a sports fan, and I actually have something of a different take on Tebow. And, it is: being a QB is about leading others. And, Tebow uses his faith to give him the confidendence to do that. Sure, he isn't the most physically gifted QB, but he finds a way to win. Whether it comes from Jesus or magic fairies or mountains of blow, I actually don't care. In other words: it works for him.

Now, that said, when he did his anti-abortion Super Bowl ad, I think he crossed a line and went beyond ordinary religious athlete (of which there are many), and into the world of religious activist. I hate religious activists. So, when he plays, I affirmatively watch to see him get hit very hard.

In other words: it works for him.

It does work for him... so long as his defense plays lights out, his team is playing opponents with several key players injured and with replacements who make boneheaded mistakes, his running game carries the brunt of the load, and he isn't forced to complete more than 15 passes to win.

That's the thing that gets me about the whole Tebow thing: there are plenty of mediocre QBs who have had short bursts of success using this same formula. Vince Young was a perfect example, his early career success is almost identical in style. But since Tebow is a clean cut evangelical white guy people are happy to heap praise and credit on him that he doesn't really merit. And then scream about anti Chrisitan discrimination when a more sober analysis reveals that he is no, in fact, all that and a bag of communion wafers.

Are we so sure about that? If this tactic works for god-botherer, Tebow, then why isn't Denver in the Superbowl tomorrow?

Let's change things around a bit and ask the same question, hmmm?

Muslims praying in some sort of group devotion? Okay, as you noted.

Switch the group thing to Christians praying at church? Last time I checked, that was 100% legal and protected by the US Constitution (same as it is for non-Christian religions, just FYI).

American Christian choosing to pray, on his own, in public, at a football game? Nobody's said he can't.

How about a Muslim QB praying to Mecca at half time during a football game? You wing nuts are okay with that, right? I mean, it's the same thing, freedom of religion and all, protected by the Constitution, right? Uh....RIGHT?

(Oh, and by the way, you know what ISN'T okay? When the Muslims or the Christians or the Jews or anybody else try to force non-believers to participate in their religion. THAT'S when it's not okay.)
