Dear Republicans

A) It's very telling when you have to make up stupid comments and attribute them to Obama. And of course you wouldn't verify w/ Snopes. That would be like looking for facts which are a huge problem for you.

B) You'd think after W, you would be just a wee bit humble about anyone saying something boneheaded, real or imagined. Oh right, you guys have so sense of shame, sorry, my bad,

Yes, I'm sure that a man who went to Columbia and Harvard never met a single Jewish person and has no idea about well known annual Jewish holidays. Totally believable.

Yes, I totally believe this. Like the President actually makes his own calls. NOT. If he wants to speak with someone...it happens.

So now the RW has simply resorted to blatent BS? Talk about 'phoning it in'.

Response to Soar:

"NOW" the RW has resorted to "blatant BS"????? NOW?

No offense intended, but the RW has ONLY ever used blatant BS and LIES. Facts NEVER matter in their weird warped "universe." Just their opinions, feelings & how they WANT things to "be" matter.

I "get it" that this is supposed to be a huge honking laff-riot "joke," which would be the "excuse" made should some rightwinger wander here & wish to disparage us for highlighting the bald stupidity on display here.

However, the sad FACT remains that far too many conservatives will read something like this and believe it... that is, if they even KNOW what Yom Kippur is anyway. I doubt many of the yokels do.

So: Epic Rightwing "humor" FAIL per usual. Stupid, pointless, not funny and most of the intended audience won't really get it anyway.

drrrrrrr

I've seen this all over the place as a Sarah Palin joke, which also seems more probable.

Snopes would not bother with this--there are no details. There's no critical thinking going on with this email, and indeed most other RW forwards. Which is why I find it impossible to have a serious conversation with these folks--they have little factual information, what "knowledge" they think they have (eg: Obama is not smart) does not reflect reality outside the right-wing bubble.

Yet another one of those "jokes need to match the subject" fails. Why can the right not grasp this simple basic humor concept??

A joke about someone not knowing about Jewish holidays is a joke that, while totally lame, would at least kind of "work" on a basic level were it applied it to someone with a reputation for being a yahoo from the sticks who probably never even met a Jewish person, ha ha. The same joke is beyond just dumb when applied to a guy whose reputation is that of a cosmopolitan urban guy with a lot of international travel under his belt. (It's like, why even try THAT dumb joke on this subject? At least think of an appropriate dumb joke!) This is the same reason why lewd womanizing jokes, however tired and stupid they may be, at least kind of "fit" Bill Clinton (because of his high-profile affair), but make absolutely no sense if applied to, say, Jimmy Carter. Or why "idiot" jokes work when applied to Dubya, but not to Karl Rove, and why "evil mastermind" jokes work the other way around. Is this really so hard to grasp???

Yeah, I know - the right doesn't care. But the above seems so simple and so obvious to me that I can't resist the urge to TRY and explain it, over and over and over and over....

Its funny to see you libs get so worked up over what is an obvious joke. No republicans on earth thought this ever happened.

Also to Matto the Hun, Obama is just as gaff prone as Bush, but it doesn't fit the media narrative, so its down played. that is unless there are 57 states, Austrian is a language...

.No republicans on earth thought this ever happened.

Which is why they made this joke, forwarded it around the interwebs, and then added a comment about "checking with Snopes". Sure.

Also to Matto the Hun, Obama is just as gaff prone as Bush, but it doesn't fit the media narrative, so its down played. that is unless there are 57 states, Austrian is a language...

Bullshit. W was so goddamn gaffe prone that they made multiple "Bushism a Day" calendars. That's 365 gaffes per calendar! Obama has his gaffes but nothing like the gaffe champion W.

And if you're going to cite one of his supposed gaffes, you might want to avoid one in which he was clearly joking.

Of course, gaffes are forgivable, even from a guy like Bush. Its shredding the Constitution and putting our country through the meat grinder of endless, pointless war which is the real issue, and W wins that distinction without contest.

sean said...

Nope

There are websites that nominate an obamaturism of the day because of his gaffs. The idea that he doesn't have a lot of gaffs is just your bias.

again, the email is a joke, so is the snopes line. Clearly you don't understand a lot of humor.

As far as Bush's pointless wars...Obama only continued Bush's policies, so how come you aren't on his case?

When he has multiple gaffe a day calendars, then we'll talk. And it would help if they were real, Bush style gaffes, where he assaults and slaughters the english language, not ones where he was either clearly joking or makes a point which slightly contradicts the every changing conservative orthodoxy, and so therefore GAFFE GAFFE OMG GAFFE! Like last week, when he "forgot" God in the Thanksgiving address... except, you know, he didn't.

again, the email is a joke, so is the snopes line. Clearly you don't understand a lot of humor.

Its a lame attempt at a "joke". Like most conservative "humor", its lame, illogical and just downright not funny. What is funny (kinda, I guess) is a conservative lecture on humor. your side sucks at a lot of things, and actual humor is one of your biggest deficits.

As far as Bush's pointless wars...Obama only continued Bush's policies, so how come you aren't on his case?

You think we aren't? God help you if Fershitz comes by. I, and most of my fellow liberals, criticize Obama daily. I acknowledge that he's done some good (like drawing down Bush's fiasco in Iraq), but as a citizen its my duty to constantly push him and other officials for better policy. Again, a place where the sides differ. Republicans have 2 modes of citizenship: blind obedience to Republican dogma, and unflinching hostility to all non-Republicans dogma.

Which, of course, updates daily.

Also I don't have a side as I'm not conservative, I do enjoy laughing at the hypocrisy and snootiness of liberals however. politically I'd say Matt Stone sums up by feelings best "I hate conservatives, but I really fucking hate liberals"

Why aren't we talking yet?

Why aren't we talking yet?

Because you didn't fulfill the requirements. You were asked for multiple years of day calendars with Bushism style Obama gaffes.

This fails on both accounts. First, its only 1 year (learn to count).

More importantly, from the looks of this calendar these aren't gaffes, but, as I predicted, instances in which the President has, (accurately or inaccurately) gone against conservative dogma and had them scream OMG SOCIALIST KENYAN MUSLIM!!!!!

For example, simply claiming that Obama appointing a supposed communist (who isn't actually, you know, a communist) as the Green Jobs Czar is a "gaffe" doesn't make it so. Its not even a mistake, let along a gaffe in the classic tradition of a Bushism. This calendar is just a list of supposed grievances by conservatives, whether they actually classify as mistakes not. Or, more accurately, its a recounting of everything the President has ever done spun negatively through a conservative lens.

So you've basically failed on all counts.

Ah, a "South Park Republican".

Recipe as follows:

Take one clueless, privileged asshole. Add one part arrogance, two parts apathy, and 3 parts just not giving a fuck about anyone but himself (its almost always a he). Shake well, being careful not to mix in any reality, as it could ruin the whole batch.

They're usually happy to enjoy the fruits of government but not really interested in contributing in any meaningful way to its operation. The douchebag peanut gallery of politics, free riding off the efforts of others but quick to criticize despite they're lack of effort. They didn't vote, so don't blame them when things go bad!

Their "worldview" (for lack of a better term) is formed something like this: "Well, Republicans may have declared a horrible war that is going to destroy our nation, but on the other hand a few snooty hollywood types want to restrict smoking. Thus, both sides are equally bad, and anyone who is actually interest in politics is a fag."

Or possibly this "That Barbara Streisand is a bit of a mouthy cunt, so therefore its not a big deal to either support or not resist people who want to rob us all blind, assuming they don't poison us blind first".

And the worst part is, a lot of them eventually wake up at 40 and actually vote Republican like the reactionary privileged assholes they are.

On second thoguht, the worst part is that they sully the good name of an otherwise entertaining cartoon.

Dammit, "their" lack of effort.

Ah, so Sean is a South Park republican.

That explains so much.

Btw, great show but you gliberterians don't understand shit about macro-economics. That includes Matt and Trey. Funny guys but I sure as hell don't want them wonking policy.

sean said...

For starters I have a degree in Economics, so I understand economics far better than any of libs on here.

Second, if I'm privileged its because I've worked my way to being in that position

Third if you think you are going to find my political philosophy in parker and stone, you're no.

Anonymous said...

For starters I have a degree in Economics

How about that, so do I!

Guess what: doesn't mean shit. I know plenty of econ majors who I wouldn't want running and economy, just like I know plenty of poli sci majors (I got a degree in that too!) who I wouldn't want running a country. I know a lot of MD's who I wouldn't want to be my family practice doc. Most importantly, I know plenty of business majors and MBAs who I wouldn't trust to clean up after a dog.

Degrees by themselves do not mean a person is right for a job. In a lot of cases, its a necessary but not sufficient requirement.

Wall Street was, and sadly still is, full of supposedly super smart people with walls full of econ, business and finance degrees. The problem is that without things like ethics, perspective, humility and experience, a degree isn't really that valuable. Indeed, often times mere paper credentials lead to arrogance and complacency, and its only after the whole world collapses (for the nth time) that people stop to realize just how dumb the supposedly smart guys were.

Second, if I'm privileged its because I've worked my way to being in that position

Nope, that's pretty much the opposite of what privileged means in this context. You may have certainly worked for a lot of things in your life. We all have. But I'm willing to bet you also had advantages not available to every other person which helped you to get where you are now.

Third if you think you are going to find my political philosophy in parker and stone, you're no.

Ah, so you'll steal their quotes because you think they sound cool, but when you get called out on your shit you backtrack.

Heck, Milton Friedman has a doctorate in economics and he's so wrong it's frightening. And the United States is still following the Supply-side model at ever increasing peril.

And do you know why? Because our political system is completely in thrall to corporate lobbies. And it always will be thanks to the SCOTUS Citizen's United decision.

sean said...

ha, Friedman is wrong. Nope Keynes was wrong. Shit Keynes even fucking said you people were taking his shit too far.

nope, everyone gets free grade school and high school and everyone can get loans and/or work through college.

Maybe you all should spend more time trying to get rich (that's what I do with my energy, work & save my way to being rich, worst case scenario I won't get rich, but I'll be comfortable) instead of bitch and moan like jealous school girls.

When exactly did he say that?

nope, everyone gets free grade school and high school and everyone can get loans and/or work through college.

Truly the remark of a privileged (and ignorant) person.

Maybe you all should spend more time trying to get rich (that's what I do with my energy, work & save my way to being rich, worst case scenario I won't get rich, but I'll be comfortable) instead of bitch and moan like jealous school girls.

That's funny, it seems to me that you spend your time making stupid arguments defending stupid positions.

Lots of luck getting rich. Really, all the best. Just don't come crying to us when a family illness bankrupts you, or some "banking genius" flushes your savings down the crapper after one of his schemes fails, or the value of your house craters in an economic crash. All of these things happen to good, hardworking people who are just trying to make an honest living.

And if you do get rich (or even comfortable) don't forget that your "success" was built on a foundation of government services, from the military to the justice system to an educated populace to all kinds of important infrastructure, without which you'd basically be left farming dirt and warding off marauders.

Without those things your "success" is either impossible, unsustainable, or both.

Hey Sean - fwiw, I truly cannot stand Obama. I'm so frickin' disgusted with him that words fail me. However, it's certainly NOT because Obama is so "leftwing" or "progressive" or whatever other kind of nonsensical b.s. some conservative think tank craps out for the rubes to "enjoy."

Frankly I see Obama as a hard-right NeoCon/NeoLiberal (if you so good in Economics, than you should *know* what NeoLiberal means, right??? Here's a clue: it's NOT about socialism), who's been hired by the 1% to do their bidding.

I don't give a shit if Obama poops out more gaffes that W Bush or not. That, to me, is incredibly irrelevant, but if it amuses YOU to believe that Obama is way more gaffe-prone than W: fine. Whatever. Great. Obama makes gaffes.

I don't care. I don't really give a shit about W Bush's gaffe's either.

Both work for (and/or ARE) the 1%.

THAT is the issue.

If you think that, in some fevered libertarian way, that *everyone* can be such a rugged individualist and "make it on their own" in this world, then you'd been sold a bill of goods by the rightwing media (here's another clue: ALL of the mainstream media, including MSNBC & NPR, are rightwing... ALL of 'em).

Yeah yeah: public schools are "free," but you're living in a dream world if you actually believe that ALL public schools provide the same level and kind of education. I won't go on. It's credulous nonsense to suggest that "everyone" can go to college by getting loans. Sure: maybe you can get a loan, and then you're in debt until your 50s (if you're lucky, that is, and can pay off your college loans by then). And what kind of "job" will get in today's economy to pay off those mega-big loans??

Buy a clue, Sean. I'm constantly seeing articles in my local "nooz" paper about how college grads can't find a job these days. So, hardly worth it to get a loan to buy a college degree for some folks.

Ok. I won't go on any further.

I really don't give a shit either about whether conservatives are funny or not (they're not).

Our economy sucks, Sean, and it's time for folks like you - who clearly do have a brain in your head - to wake up and stop wasting your time in being supercilious and bitchy. Figure it out.

You, too, are being screwed by the 1%, and if you think that by "working hard" you will somehow avoid the fate of being screwed over even more over the coming years... well, wake up and smell the coffee.

Cheers.
