Subject: NBC is at it again!!

Apparently this happened on 8-15 but I just received it today....am passing it along in hopes everyone else does the same!

received 8-15-2011

This morning on the Today Show, Matt Lauer interviewed one of the  wives of one of the Navy Seals killed this weekend. He asked her what she would say to her children about their dad and how she would want them to remember him...She said, and I quote, " His love for Christ" and then continued with a few other things...through out the day and on MSN homepage...when the story is replayed they have edited the "Love of Christ" part out...

Why? Because using the word Christ might offend someone...well I am a Christian and I am offended! Offended that they would edit it out. Offended that we as Christians are asked to tread lightly so as not to offend someone of another religion...well I have read the book and guess what...We Win!

I think anyone who missed the original broadcast this morning should know what NBC has done. This man loved his country and loved his God and gave his life for both, just as Christ gave His life for him...

Please feel free to copy this and forward it to everyone on your email list..There are emails that go around saying " If you believe in God" then forward this...well I am starting one..right here, right now...I am not ashamed of God but I am becoming more ashamed of my country...It is time to take a stand.

This story has some serious errors, or it is possible the whole thing is made up. They don't give the name of the woman interviewed, but I think this in reference to the interview with Kimberly Vaughan on the today show. It was CNN who later ran an edited version of the interview. And apparently they left out the phase 'soldier for Christ' not 'love of Christ.' A different sentiment entirely and one which is quite controversial. What was worse, CNN or NBC editing an interview to make it less controversial, or right wingers changing the story to make it a political cudgel? Who dishonors the man more?

You can't be utterly smug AND play the victim card, that's not how life in the real world works.

You only get one piece of cake, so choose wisely.

You only get one piece of cake, so choose wisely.

You are right, one descision for eternity (heaven or hell), so choose wisely. And after reading the Bible, Christ's followers do win.

Anon: Perhaps you can explain to us how fibbing about a tiny controversy to drum up anger fits with Christ's teachings.

And if Christians "win" in eternity, why does such a petty thing matter?

How convienent! After reading a book that says "these people win", we are supposed to be convinced that they actually do, because of course it says so in the book!

Of course, there's a little problem with this: why is this book "right" while books like the Koran or Book of are "wrong"? According to many atheists books, the Bible is a bunch of crap. Why are these books "wrong" and the Bible automatically "right"?

It has very little to do with being convenient for you "Anonymous".
Arguing about how one feels about Christianity with someone who is dead set against it is generally a waste of time.

This email is by a Christian, and has an intended targeted audience of Christians.
So to say “We win”, would in fact be accurate for the Christian audience the mail was intended for.

As far as the NBC program, I have no idea if it is true or not.
If Christians "win" in eternity, why does such a petty thing matter?
You are correct. As a Christian this really does not have a major impact on current or future events.
But Christ has a real value to us who believe, and the omission of such a topic is difficult to accept for many Christians.
This email may be born from the frustration that others just don’t value Christ the way that most Christians do.
Oh well. All I can say is let bygones be bygones.

And arguing with someone who is convinced that Christianity is infallible despite all the available evidence is just as big a waste of time.

I thought Christians were called to be good examples and witnesses to the world? Is sending out lying emails which basically say that everyone else who isn't in our special club is going to burn in hell forever the best way to spread your message?

Hey, not everyone likes the Football team I happen to root for.

Oh well. All I can say is let bygones be bygones

But only after you lie in order to rile up people's emotions for no reason other than to create strife. And while your at it, why not vote for a few warmongers who have every intention of destroying the social safety net and imposing legal discrimination, because those guys happen to be "Christian" (aka, on our team!).

Like I said: smug.

It's a major reason the rest of us don't like you...nothing to do with your believing in god or finding your own salvation with Jesus Christ.

Good for you.

Agnostics and atheists for the most part don't give a shit. But you guys are eternally smug, which is predictable, weak, and lame. That, and your penchant of actively discriminating against the rest of us. I know you have to, it's hardwired into your brains from birth.

But it's extremely petty.

And Jesus wouldn't like it, either.

It's too bad when so-called "Christians" resort to lying in order to get their so-called "point" across.

Somehow that seems to, at best, be contradictory to their intended goal or message, and at worst to just make them seem like self-serving liars with nothing of value to offer or impart.

A suggestion is to stick to truth and facts if you want to educate others about your religion, philosophy, point of view, whatever. Otherwise, you are a liar, and most people won't trust you or give you any credibility.

Too bad so many rightwing forwards with a "Christian" perspective end up including so many lies in them. I've read the Bible, myself, and I can write with authority that Jesus never ever said to LIE in order to "spread the good word."

Just saying...
