May 2,2011 Prayer...Now I lay me down to sleep...one less terrorist this
world does keep...with all my heart I give my thanks...to those in uniform
regardless of ranks...you serve our country and serve it well...with humble
hearts your stories tell...so as I rest my weary eyes...while freedom rings
our flag still flies...you give your all, do what you must...with God we
live and God we trust....Amen

That was from a facebook post last night --
God bless our troops.

That was from a facebook post last night from a guy I know (don’t know if he wrote it) but the other one that was good too was…

“I wonder how surprised Bin Laden is right now to find out there are no virgins waiting for him and that he has been praying to the wrong God”

Love both of those and God Bless Our Troops!!!!!!

And yesterday I saw this elsewhere: "Osama bin Laden and his Allah are both in hell now."

Are all Christians this stupid? Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are all Abrahamic religions. They all believe in the same God.

No, not all Christians are that stupid, CharlieE, but many have been far too willing to be completely misled, bamboozled and hoodwinked by charlatan ministers of various ilks, plus the incessant rightwing noise machine. Too bad that they are not exhibiting the compassion and loving-kindness that Jesus preached and taught.

John 11:35

Matthew 7:1

Funny, I wonder which God these people are praying to? The Christian one isn't exactly pro-vengeance or pro-death penalty. While one can make the case that the death of Osama Bin Laden may well prevent more deaths in the future, even the Vatican issued a statement to the effect that gleeful celebration of someone's death, no matter what they've done, isn't exactly Christian. You'd think real Christians would be praying for the dead sinner's soul, or something.

The gleefulness kinda bothers me too. Though it is hard not to feel celebratory about his death. Its like I was waiting for him to be caught all this time and I didn't realize it.

The gleefulness was disgusting, and the stone-cold killing of ObL (if that's what actually happened, although I do believe ObL is dead) without attempting to bring him to trial makes a mockery of the word "justice" which is being so widely touted. This action wasn't about justice, it was about revenge and vengence. Not exactly a Christian way to behave, nor does it follow the Rule of Law.

@ blaney

You must remember, SEAL operations are very dangerous and stressful. Those guys have split-seconds to make life and death decisions, so I don't fault them at all for shooting OBL.

Sure, I would have loved for him to be captured and stand trial, but failing that, I'm glad he's dead. I nearly threw a chair through my TV screen the morning of 9/11. It still hurts like Hell, 10 long years later.

Offer not valid for homos, lesbians, feminists, liberals, Democrats, lefties, vegans, vegetarians, non-Christians of any religion, atheists, or anyone whose skin color can be classified as burnt almond or darker.

to gruaud: don't get me wrong. I'm not blaming or pointing fingers at the SEALs, nor am I dissing their actions.

But I don't think the murder of ObL is something to be *celebrated,* nor do I see this as an act of "justice." It's a revenge killing plain and simple.

The SEALs did their jobs and did as commanded. Kudos to them.

I blame the US govt and point out what I see as the reality of the situation. Vengence, not justice.

@blaney -- gotcha.
