Going Beyond Disrespect

Abraham asked the Lord to spare 50 righteous people. God responded to Abraham's plea "If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all ....Genesis 18:16-33

The movie "Corpus Christi" is due to be released this June to August. A disgusting film set to appear in America later this year depicts Jesus and his disciples as homosexuals! As a play, this has already been in theatres for a while.  It's called "Corpus Christi" which means "The Body of Christ".  It's revolting mockery of our Lord. But we can make a difference.

That's why I am sending this e-mail to you. If you send this around, we just might be able to prevent this film from showing in America.  Let's stand for what we believe in and stop the mockery of Jesus Christ our Savior. Where do we stand as Christians?

At the risk of a bit of inconvenience, I'm forwarding this to all I think would appreciate it, too.  Please help us prevent such offenses against our Lord. There is no petition to sign, no time limit, or minimum number of people to send this to.. It will take you less than 2 minutes!

If you are not interested and do not have the 2 minutes it will take to do this, please don't complain when God does not have time for you because He is far busier than we are. Hey it's worth a shot!

Apparently, some regions in Europe have already banned the film.  All we need is a lot of prayer and a lot of e-mails.  JUST GET THE WORD OUT....will God be able to find at least 50 righteous people who are willing to express their concern and voice their opinion against this act of blasphemy?

I'm pretty sure this movie does not exist.

But I love selective first amendment rights.

I remember the right wing freak out about this play several years ago. Turns out that this isn't as dated as I thought, and this movie really is coming out Summer 2011.

According to IMDB, the movie is actually a documentary about the play, which has interviews with cast members about their experiences over the years, etc.

So wingnuts are so overly sensitive that they want to trample the first amendment in order to censor a tiny documentary about a play that they don't like.

YAY FREEDOM!!!!

Some info on this play from Snopes, which at the end references the documentary in question.

Yeah, typical rightwingers who thump *their* version of the US Constitution nearly as much as they thump the Bibile, all the while mostly have no clue what's in either. all they want to do is ram their bitter views & authoritarian lifestyle choices down the throats of everyone else.

It's like when the Tea Party has it's protests, it's all fine & good (and I agree), but if lefties protest, it's a total outrage.

File it under the usual rightwing hypocrisy and double standards. Just like It's OK If Your A Republican (IOKIYAR) and you commit adultery. Fine & jimdandy for Republican politicians to do that constantly, but then conservabaggers still get their panties in a bunch over Clinton.

More rightwing think tank bullshit sent out to reliably jizz up the baggerz & get their knickers in a twist over nothing. Another fine *distraction,* esp now as we're told by our Elites that the USA can no longer afford to pay teachers, fire depts, police, etc, but somehow we have million$$ upon million$$$ to wage a THIRD war in Libya... which will inure solely & only to the benefit of the Elites who own MIC industries & also to the benefit of BigOIL (but don't expect to see gas prices go down any time soon).

Yeah: let's get all upset over nothing.... yadda yadda....

This documentary that few will ever see is hardly a threat to Christianity--unlike the constant battering Christianity takes from those who claim to follow it while preaching hate and intolerance. Fake Christians or Dominionists who love the old testament rules and punishments, and who, if they met the real person Jesus today would call him a commie.

"...some regions in Europe have already banned the film..."

Europeans are dirty surrender-monkey socialists who suck - except for when they ban things we don't like, which they can do, 'cause they don't all have the same pesky First Amendment inconvenience that we have here in the US. We need to hates Europe most of the time, except for when we want to ignore the part of the founding governmental document of the US that we don't like, in which case, we should immitate them. All clear now?

Excuse me while I go bang my my head against the wall.

Aw gee, is your faith too shallow to withstand this?

The problem isn't outside you. It's within you.

"It is my first amendment right to make my town or city display a nativity scene on the taxpayer dime on public grounds, but we must BAN BAN BAN this privately funded movie because its mere existence offends me."

If your religion offends me, can we just ban that and call it even?

This pretty much sums up the world view of the Christian right. If you don't agree with something, eliminate it.

"Majority rules" - except when that majority is trying to take away the rights of the minority. That's why we have a Bill of Rights, morons. Maybe if they stopped fetishizing the Constitution and actually read it, they might learn something.

So a fake email petition request about banning some goofy Jesus movie is proof of what exactly? It is apparently enough for the above commentators to throw a big lefty blanket over everything they despise (or think they despise) about those that would disagree with them.
Hey Mr. Moderator. Got any "rightwing blog stuff" better to post? These are awful, or did I miss the point?

What's fake? The movie is real, the petition certainly rings true (thought its actual power will be nothing). The plea here about how the films disrespects Christianity and therefore we should abandon the First Amendment is a common theme in right wing thought. So what's fake?

It is apparently enough for the above commentators to throw a big lefty blanket over everything they despise (or think they despise) about those that would disagree with them.

Damn right I despise censorship. If you don't like the movie, don't see it. If you love Jesus, then by all means worship him however you want. But you don't get to stifle the opinions of others.

Its also especially ironic that petitions like this almost always backfire, as the film will get far more publicity then it otherwise would have, but that's a separate issue.

Hey Mr. Moderator. Got any "rightwing blog stuff" better to post? These are awful, or did I miss the point?

Pretty much. The stuff here is REAL right wing stuff. Its the crap that right wingers write, read, and forward to all their friends and family (welcome or not). It gets posted without alteration. So if you want some "better" stuff, go tell right wingers to write better email forwards and Internet petitions.

I warn you, its probably a hopeless mission.

Sadly I agree about the hopeless mssion.

Let's just say I comment on these emails to serve as launching pad into deeper more meaningful ideas.
